Alrighty folks! I stumbled across something I really love to eat and it is healthy. First, this product WILL NOT provide you with enough protein on its own. I drink a protein shake (Syntrax) 1/2 hour before I eat this for dinner. Second, I am three months out of surgery and I still eat very small portions. I probably eat about 4 to 6 ounces and that is only because I can really chew this up. If I was eating protein such as chicken, I can only eat about two ounces.
In the frozen food section of my local Von's Supermarket, they sell Tai Pei brand General Tso's Chicken. I believe it is currently priced at $2.50/box. It comes in a box shaped like a to-go container of Chinese food. www.taipeifood.com/products/entree/genTso.html
Warning: There is not a lot of chicken in this meal but the chicken that is in there is REALLY soft and flavorful. It has a great selection of vegetables that when properly chewed, are entirely to friendly to my pouch. It microwaves right in the box. Unlike many prepared Chinese foods, this is low fat and low sodium.
Each container has 2 1/2 servings. I do not see how they could possibly make this claim to the non-RNY, non-Lapband crowd. I would have eaten two boxes before surgery and not looked like a pig by onlookers. After all, they are calling 4.8 ounces a complete entree portion meal.
It is a great way to increase your vegetable consumption with a medley of tasty frozen vegetables that steam nicely in the box. And, there are no dishes to wash!

Soft is good. Flavorful is even better. If you are anything like me somedays are better than others. Just made some meatballs for my hubby and actually ate one- plain- no sauce - tasted great--- BUT... i must not have chewed enough...
Motto: "CHEW or spew...."
ah the dreaded foamies.....
Oh well- I guess I'll just make him some spaghetti and forget about meatballs for now....
Glad you found something you enjoy!
