Off Topic, but really sweet news

I have a colleague and friend whose high school age children, a boy- 14 and a girl- 16, were in a really bad accident last weekend.  They have pretty severe injuries, and are expected to both remain hospitalized for a month or more.  We held a department fundraiser for them today - a spaghetti feed - and we raised nearly $2000 for them.  It will pretty nearly cover their out-of-pocket expenses.  And don't we all know how hard it is to manage those expenses!  The fundraising committee was so blessed to be able to do this for this very, very nice family.  And it was so fun to call my friend and let her know the total.  She was overwhelmed.  It was great!!

Kathy that is an incredible story.  We have a family in need on the Texas Board right now and I hope some of us can do the same kind of thing. We pulled together for the hurricane victims in Texas and it was wonderful. It is so powerful when a bunch of people that can give a little bit to make a large amount.  I know she must be entirely overwhelmed to know that is off her plate.  What a beautiful expression of love and compassion and thank you so much for sharing.

OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE CHILDREN. THIS MORNING WE ALL SAID A PRAYER FOR THEM AND WHEN I TOLD THE STORY ABOUT THEM PEOPLE CRIED. I CRIED TOO. IT REALLY TOUCHES ME BECAUSE I LOST SEVERAL FAMILY MEMBERS AND MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE PARENTS AND WHAT THEY ARE GOING THRU NOW.  I LIT A CANDLE FOR THEM.
ALL CHILDREN HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART AND IN  MY PRAYERS.
