WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes
I'm home from the hospital! We stopped @ a diner....
Woohoo! had my stricture taken care of this am! a little way of celebrating 2 months out from surgery! lol
anyway... shortly after they had brought me back to the recovery area I was offered something to drink. I was able to drink 2 4oz apple juice down with NO PROBLEM! what a relief! I was really concerned about getting dehydrated!
Then the nurse got me up & into a wheelchair to take me to my chauffer waiting outside. (my hubby took day off from work to keep an eye on me!) feeling a little dopey (more so than normal...)
so I can't drive for 24hrs.
After leaving the hospital we had been given the ok to stop and eat-so we did. We went to my fav Greek diner and I ordered moussaka...
kind of eggplant, cheese casserole. But they made it differently- I really wanted the Spanokopita- spinach pie but that has fillo so I'm staying away from that. Only ate about 3tbsps. took the rest home.
Oh also had some chicken broth off of the chicken pastene soup. and ...
oops a cup of tea. I know I know not together... WEll I don't make a regular habit of that.
amazing how much better I feel already. Dr. Clarke said at some point I may have to have it repeated... hopefully not... but it does happen from time to time. So at least I know what to watch out for now...
oh & btw--- I don't think Chris is a jerk!(of course, i haven't spoken with his wife & kids.... )- I know MEN lose faster...
some women however, continue to compare themselves with men and get very discouraged. NO NEED TO DO THAT. it is just their physical makeup- gives them the weight loss edge!
So glad I had it done! now I can get back on track with my soft foods and make progress to small amounts of regular food. woo hoo!
oh and btw-- weighed myself this am... down to 204!!!
ONEDERLAND is in sight! Don't think I'll make it by Sunday- but
definately by next Sunday! CELEBRATE!

Wow! It sounds like you've been through the ringer! I'm really glad you're feeling better, though. And so quickly after the procedure! I'm impressed!
I'm also a little jealous! I've not weighed myself for 2 weeks...I've been working out with a friend of mine M-F mornings, and I decided I wasn't going to weigh myself until 10/1. But, boy is it hard!
Congrats on the 204. You must feel AMAZING!!!!

Hi - just noticed your surgery was 2 days ahead of mine... and we are about at the same weight. (I was 234 am of surgery down from a high of 288 currently - 204)
as to weighing... I weigh myself ONCE every am. but then only post weight once a week. there is no way I could wait to get on the scale that long but if it's working for you -- TERRIFIC....
congratulations on your success... and I hope you have smooth sailing....

Thanks overall I do feel amazing!
However, I just woke up from napping in my chair and my throat is sore... that's what happens when they stick a scope down your throat!
at least I have NO MEMORY whatsoever of it!
the last thing I remember was the nurse getting ready to place the mouthpiece in. The other nurse MUST have shot some stiff drugs into the IV in my right arm while I was talking with the nurse on my left side. I never knew what hit me.
woke up in the recovery area. Glad it is over!
Hope I don't have to go through that again... but at least I know I'll get instant relief!
So if anyone out there feels they may have a stricture developing don't hold back from GOING to your Surgeon's office and getting an appointment set up. Dehydration is NOT good. Low Protein intake is not good. EGD with dilitation is RELIEF.
sore throat is not real bad either- I've had much worse when I've been sick. BE BRAVE & get it done!

Kathy.... I'm doing much better now and believe me--- I'd rather have had to deal with that stricture than what YOU went thru early on!
But THAT is also a thing of the past!
I'm glad you are doing well also! It is so nice to have people that really know what issues we are facing and understand the feeling, mixed emotions etc.
these past 2 weeks I've been busy and getting to see many friends that haven't seen me in MONTHS! It is truly amazing to see their faces! Instead of trying to hide disappointment because I've gained "just a little more weight" I'm being met with the biggest Smiles & congratulations!
Of course, one or two friends are having a time dealing with "YOU'RE going to be smaller than me!!!- SYNDROME)
Ah well- I guess I'll just point out that perhaps that is true ...
HOWEVER.... I SHRUNK...
at least YOU didn't get BIGGER!
that should help to put things in perspective for her...
besides right now she is preggers and will be getting small again in a number of months!
OH I hope to break into ONEDERLAND THIS WEEK!!!
I hope I can do it! if not then it's next week. woo hoo for US!
