Two Month Surgiversary

Well, I reached my two month surgiversary.  As I sit here celebrating with a glass of Syntrax Nectar, I have been mulling over my experiences.  The Lap-RNY surgery itself was very easy and I was walking many laps around the nurses' station within a few hours of surgery.  I hated my G-tube because it leaked really bad from around my incision (actually shooting a stream about eight inches long on a couple of occasions).  The G-tube would not have been so bad but my bowels were not starting up so I had to keep it for two weeks.  Around the end of the G-tube I started having more restriction and I started vomiting the soft food diets (like soup).  within about two weeks from that point I could not swallow a 1/8 teaspoon of water without vomiting.  That is when I realized that this could not possibly be normal.  My surgeon fixed a stricture that same day.  And, because of the dehydration and being behind in protein and vitamins because of the vomiting, it took me about two more weeks to feel good.

So, I have really only been feeling good for the last two to three weeks.  But these last two weeks have been awesome.  I am able to drink all of my protein, eat all of my vitamins, and eat 1-2 meals a day.  Each meal consists of a couple of bites of food and always protein first.  I am not hungry and when I am thirsty, I can easily drink a lot of water without difficulty.  So, while I may have gotten off to a slower start, I am so thankful I had WLS.  I feel really good.

I have lost 55 pounds and about 6 inches in my waist in two months.  Thank you all so much for your support.

Regards,

Chris
