Newbie here from North Georgia.  Had my RNY on June 29, 2009.  At two month weigh in was down 60 lbs .... woohoo! I don't weigh in but once a month ..... I make it a point to STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALES, except when I go to the surgeon's office for my B-12 shot and monthly weigh-in.  Best advice I can give anyone .... !!!

If there was one bit of advice you would like to share about your journey, what would that be ???? please share it with me.

Thanks

Hey newbie from North Georgia!! What a great job you've done and I agree about the scales during the honeymoon period but when you reach goal I believe it is very important to weight every day.  I know you said one bit of advice but I tend to talk too much!!

The reason I say to check yourself when you are at goal is to prevent regain getting out of hand.  This may sound obsessive but I can't tell you the women that I have seen in misery over a 20,30, 40, 50 pound regain.  In reality we think "I've still lost 100 pounds" but for some reason, our brains don't work this way so the way to prevent it is to keep yourself in check.  Otherwise you start to see things through "weight regain" glasses and it's a terrible thing to watch.  Hold on to the weight you decide you like and hold on to it with all you've got.

Secondly switch your days of negative thinking to positive thinking.  It won't always be perfect but the idea is to work on getting more good days than bad.  Say out loud positive things to yourself and try to get a head start on the stinkin thinkin that we do that cause our stress jars to fill up and make us make bad decisions.  We make much better decisions about our miracle surgery when we are at peace and not stressing over little things that don't make any difference in the long run.

I hope that helps and welcome to our family!!!
hugs, Y
