Hi Again :)
I don't get to post much due to my goofy work schedule ( I work nights and sleep days) but I do lurk and read posts as much as I can.
I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. One month ago I had gastric banding (Realize Band) and yesterday I recieved my first "fil." While I was at the dr apt he had to take out a little saline b/c I had trouble getting some water down. I ended up having 4cc's of saline in my band. Now today I don't feel much restriction at all. I guess I was thinking that the restrictive feeling would feel more like right after the surgery when everything felt very "tight" Is this normal? Please any advice you could give would be appreciated!

the only thing I can think of that might help you is to get a copy of Dr. Garth Davis' book - "Weight Loss Surgery for EXPERTS"
I just got it last week and have been slowly going through it.
There is quite a bit of information in there about the Band. That might be a good source for you to check out!

Sukie... I picked it up at a Borders. It was about $26.
I have really enjoyed it.
One of the things that made me like Dr. Garth Davis even more was a comment that he made about people traveling to have him & his Dad do their surgeries... He said " As flattering as that might be, in most cases, I'd suggest that you look for a local surgeon."...
"Keep in mind that you're going to be healing in the days immediately after the surgery, and embarking on a big trip during this time probably is not what you're going to want to be doing."
I'm glad I had my surgery locally. but I feel very happy for those who have such a wonderful doctor as their surgeon.
Ok I just looked up the band in his book. Lots of information on pages 50-56! go ahead and get yourself a copy. i think you will really enjoy ALL the info there!

Thank you so much, I just ordered it from barnes and nobles dot com and I can't wait to get it. My doc is wonderful doc but I have to remember that he's human too and must have been having an off day to not fill me in on what to do on the days following my fill. Thanks for the book reccomendation, I can't wait to read it.

I apologize for getting to this late. I had had NO internet since Thursday afternoon. I was told that u can feel ur restriction right away or even sometimes 2 weeks later. Its really not in an "instant". I got my last fill back in July 08 and 3 weeks ago I had to get a slight unfil because it started feeling very very tight to where I wasnt able to keep water down. This was ONE year AFTER the fact. Now, everyone is different, and I did have restriction throughout the year because I was able to lose 161lbs. So...I think u should restriction soon. Take care.
