hey... how did it go? You didn't go in there and talk to people that weren't there did you? I am anxiously awaiting your reply...
I know you were nervous about it. Frankly, I was nervous about mine, also.

BUT we survived! one more hoop successfully jumped through!
Congratulations!

It's funny that when I had surgery, I knew the guy that did my eval as a friend.  Needless to say I was very worried was I?  I think the whole psyche eval is probably one of the questionable parts of the process because how many therapists can spot someone that is really totally undeserving because of psychological issues?  Most semi talented can fake their way through anything they want so badly.  I certainly assume that since they work somewhere that gives them that kind of quality insurance that they are certainly capable people that can sit through a one time consultation.  I know it's someone that had the best intentions when the rules were made.  I just don't see the real benefit and I've NEVER heard of anyone failing their eval.  I'd love to hear from anyone if they know of anyone that has.  We are so nervous and I hate to see anyone go through that....
hugs Y

My psych eval was a joke -really!  I basically stood in line with about six other folks, and we were called into the office one at a time for a three minute meeting.  How seriously could anyone take that?  Even if you are pretty unbalance (not saying that I am) but how could a therapist possibly tell in under three minutes?  The only nutty thing about my whole process was the psych eval!!

Let God's presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom
to sing, dance, praise, and love.  It is there for each and every one of us.

You both are soooo right! the guy I went to hand never seen me before had no history really- and it was over in less than 15 mins. $30.00 please... man I wish I could get a job like that!

the ONLY one that does a REAL eval from what I've seen is Mary Jo on BIG MEDICINE! She is amazing at drawing people out and getting down to the underlying issues... NOW I CAN'T imagine having MY eval done on TV but those she has counseled it certainly seemed to have helped....

Still waiting for Tony's reaction to His experience...
I hope he listened to his wife and didn't misbehave.....

My doctor sent me to a very qualified psychologist who specializes in WLS evaluations.  Her fee was $300 and it included forms, personality inventories related to food and depression, as well as the preparation of her report, etc.  She then met with me for one hour.  It was a breeze and she was helpful with providing some suggestions for post-WLS.  She told me that she has indeed denied/delayed WLS for others in the past.  I guess it all depends on the integrity of the surgeons making the referral as well as the psychologist.  My surgeon uses the psychologist to give talks to patients after WLS such as at his annual retreat.  So, he clearly wants someone with skill and integrity.

OK, I've got to show you something, Mary Jo and I are good friends.  She is a wonderful person and gives a wonderful talk!  Here's one of the last pictures we had made together.

Oh Yvonne-- I'm jealous! I just love her! I wish I were able to go to RYE in Oct. but it just isn't going to work- I have many things going on around then an it will be impossible for me to attend.

She is really comes across as a very sincere person that truly cares about Dr's Davis' patients. Of course, I think they are terrific also- but SHE is #1 in my book!  and you may tell her for me!
