Quitting Smoking

I am not, repeat not having a smoke with my first cup of coffee this morning. I think I want one but I keep telling myself no.
As you know I am on chantix and was down to 4 a day, next thing is, things started happening with my daughter (Will tell yall about her sometimes) and I went back up to 8 then a pack day before yesterday. Yesterday I did good, and only smoked 9.  Yayy me!
So today I am not having first cigarette for the day, It has been on with my brain lol, I have been up thirty-five minutes and havent lit up. And it is usually first thing I pick up. I have been waiting for certain lengths of time between ciggys to test myself, and  get back to four a day without the morning ciggy so it will be easier for me to quit. I have to conquer my mind, and I am trying hard.
So lets all have some yogurt, and excercise ten minutes outside, mosquitoes allowing, oh crap! I cant set up my cloud yet, mom has to move her car first, and she is still sleeping, not getting up til 9 this morning. She only has to work a few hours today.   Guess I will ride my little bicycle pedal thingy in the house while I do some reading on OH!
                               Have a wonderful day yall!

Keep up the good work.  You can totally do this!  It is hard - no lie.  But so worth the good health!

Oh sweetie....My heart goes out to you.  I can't tell you how many times I have said to myself "Thank God I never smoked".  I just don't know how some people are able to quit but we obviously have several members that did and I hope they'll lend whatever support they can.  Bless your heart.  Again, I am so grateful I never started because I have seen so many have such a hard time quitting.  Good luck!! We are here for you!!!
hugs, Y

Congratulations on your effort! It is so important to quit.  Just today I learned that my friends son had his surgery POSTPONED due to still smoking.  He was told to quit and hasn't. So -- I ask myself-- does he really want to have the surgery- Is he committed to following the doctors orders?  Maybe after having his surgery postponed it has given him something to think about.... time will tell.

But- I remind myself that these directions from the doctors are NOT intended just to make us miserable- they are to make our adjustments to post-op living less difficult! When I saw that many did not have to do a month of shakes prior to surgery- I did feel like WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS? after all I WAS losing my preop requirement quite well without the shakes. But- I'm glad that i stuck with it (except for the weekend prior to surgery- I did eat 2 small meals because I was away- the rest was shakes) I came home from visiting my cousin and started my 3 day prep for surgery. Some folks only have prep the day before.

My point is this task of quitting smoking may be difficult for you - you may wonder at times WHY- but deep down YOU KNOW it is for your best result. and THAT is what we all hope for you...
the best result- without any major complications!

so keep trying- keep doing what you're doing and YOU WILL SUCCEED!!!!

then you can put all the money you saved into a fund to purchase

A NEW WARDROBE!!!!   how fun is that????

Sounds like I am going to be getting a new bicycle and some new clothes, because of all the support I am getting on here and Bariatric Buddy boards, I am quitting when I finish this carton, I have like 5 packs left then I am done. So looks like quit date HAS MOVED UP A MONTH TO SEPTEMBER 1st.  I know I can do it, I need my family and friends help and support when stress  comes around. There is alot of it too, because my daughter is a meth addict, and my mom and I have her 2 babies most of the time. They are 15 months and  the other will be three years in October.
Wish me luck, and say a prayer for us all.   Maybe even a lil fairey dust would help here.

Just keep on trying, we all stumble at times. I finally stopped smoking after 38 years about six weeks ago. At first it was really hard, I missed them so much, especially when I was around others who were smoking. But not so much now, hang in there I know how it is.
