Hello,

I am new to the group I had surgery in November 09 and I am so Thankful everything went well. I was pre-diabetic and 327lbs morbidly obese. I am working out at least 4-5 times a week and seeing results before I would hit the gym for hours and see no results. I am changing my daughters eating habits along with my new diet.

I am down 38 lbs and looking forward to even more coming off. I would love to meet some people close in my area to share/exchange our experiences and friendship. Every pound dropped gives me a new lease of life. I want to go the distance and keep it off for the rest of my life.

I am a down to earth single mother of a little girl, I love to read, dance, and workout. I am a little shy and slow to warm but once you know me I am a good friend.

Thanks look forward to getting to know you all.

Hello and WELCOME!!
I can't believe you're working out so much and even better is changing you daughter's eating habits!!  I would love to be here for you every step of the way and give you the support you need.  I've been hanging around here for almost 9 years and I've held a lot of hands.

The fact that you love to dance is sort of a easy way to stay in shape!  Dancing is one of the best ways you can keep in shape and stay that way.  It's really important to set up the good habits now and stick to them.  Changing anything at the end of your honeymoon period is really hard.  Please let me know anything you have questions about.  38 pounds girlfriend!!! WOOOO HOOOO!!

So tell me more about yourself...how old is your daughter?  How long did you research the surgery before you had it?  Welcome to our little board and feel free to jump in anywhere and say anything!
hugs, Y

Hey Yvonne,

My daughter is almost 3 and works out with me sometimes on my walks or just dancing around the house. I looked into the surgery about a 1 year before I took any real steps then I got a doctor and took another six months. I changed from the first doctor I had and found Doctor Kuhn from the recommendation of a co-worker who had gastric bypass. When I went to his office I was ready fully equip with information and a desperately needing to get the weight off.

I have always loved to be active but about 5 years ago got really discouraged because I kept gaining instead of losing due to medication. Now that I see results I am a junkie plus I feel so much better stress release and better sleep. If there are any workout groups count me in if it will work with my busy schedule.

My baby girl is eating less sugars with me and lower fat meals I prepare for us. She is a good eater anyway so I don't have to force her to eat veggies. We just cut a lot of junk food like chocolate and chips which we both love. I still get her snacks just reading the labels to make better choices. Funny my kid thinks sparkling water is soda cause that is all I will buy with a little fizz too it. I can't drink them though but I love that she drinks them zero calories and no sugars. I am passionately taking steps for a healthier life for her and myself.

Happy to be here and luv the warm welcome

That's just incredible that you've got her drinking those zero calories drinks!  You're such a good mom and you'll be saving her life too.  Isn't it true about better sleep??? I had sleep apnea and it went away when I lost my weight.  In fact my life is about 100% different.  I stayed at work or my house and I went to one store to get food and clothes in one place so it would cut down on the time I would have to be in public.  I learned a lot about computers and things while I was obese and those things now come back to me as blessings.  I had to work better and smarter because I was obese and again, I learned so much.  If anyone would have ever told me I'd ever be in front of a video camera every week I would have told them they were crazy!  At the same time I have learned a lot about our disease.  I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly and I know I can help others avoid some of the bad and ugly if they will let me.  I'll bet your daughter is a cutie on top of that.  I can tell you love her very much and you are giving her the gift of your life by doing this.  I'm so happy for you!

Yes I think Dr. Kuhn is great I had minimal pain and recovered quick I would recommend him to anyone. Yeah the holidays were not a big deal I did have some head hunger but I kept reminding myself of the steps I took to change my health and that out weight any temptations
