No silly questions!! It is what you know and that will change.  We are all afraid and scared that we will be the one that doesn't make it.  Please make sure and ask whatever you wish.  Again though...try and put it in the main discussion area because it gets lost in the introduction section!  I'm soooooooooooooooooo excited for you!!!!
hugs, Y

Hi! My name is Julie (aka Jules). I have a lap-band that I have had for 3 years. It was too tight for too long and I need it removed. :-( It has been my best friend. I will have my revision in November. We are converting to a sleeve. I am very excited. I have gained about 30 pounds since they removed the fluid from my band. I feel like I did 3 years ago. Miserable!

I went to the OH Conference with my man. We had an absolute blast. I really enjoyed meeting so many people with smiles on their faces. I kept thinking all weekend long.... "Look at the smiles in this room." He had the gastric bypass about a year and a half ago. He has been a huge help for me getting through this rough patch.

We too have a couple of Chihuahuas. One is a hefer weighing in at 13 pounds. Yes, he has big bones. :-) The other one is my "little old man" weighing in at 5 or so pounds. Eric has a 4 year old that is the light of my life. His too of course. Ha. I have never had anyone that made me light up like she does. She is an absolute angel. Why wouldn't I just love her to death? She tells me all the time that I am perfect.

I am so glad Eric introduced me to OH. I absolutely love the support. It helps so much keeping in touch with people that "get" what we are going through.

Thanks for having me!

Jules

Hey Jules,
Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! I'm sooooooooo happy for you getting to have a revision.  Make sure and take good care of yourself after this one because I know you can make this work!  I'm so glad you've got the opportunity because I have seen that miserable look too many times and I so wish I could help everyone be right where they should be all the time but then I tend to dream big.

A 13 pound Chihuahua?  Yep, big boned and you sound so much like me when you mentioned the unconditional love.  It's the best I've ever found so that might be why I have so many unconditional lovers in my house!  I'm so glad you found yourself at OH and this board too.

Hello

I am Erin. I am just starting the process. I am currently waiting for approval. So keep your fingers crossed for me.  I hope the have RNY in December if everything goes through.

I have been overweight since birth, but it really has gotten out of control in the last 5 years and I am ready to lose it all.  Over the last year I have lost 28 pounds. It is not small feat, but just a drop in the bucket of what I need to lose, so my doctor suggested WLS. So here I am.

I am excited to get to know you all.

Talk to you later
Erin

Hi All!  My name is Patti and I had Lap RNY on April 30, 2009.  So far, I've lost 70 lbs and a bunch of comorbidities!  I feel terrific - I still have about 50lbs to go, but I feel wonderful!  Yeah for me!

I've been lucky that I haven't had any complications - its been pretty smooth sailing since surgery and I hope it remains that way!  I hope to get to know you all better and hope to become friends.  This is a journey that is so much more fun when you aren't alone!

Best wishes to all,
Patti

Hey Patti!! So glad you are here.  WOW!!! 70 lbs!!! Isn't that awesome?????  (oh and losing a bunch of comorbidities)  When trying to qualify for surgery I remember it was the only time in my life I wished for things to be wrong with me!  I'll bet since you've gotten this far without problems that you'll be just fine.

The board is a lot of lurkers and maybe it's not as exciting since we have no drama but there are a bunch of nice people here.  I'm so pleased you picked us!
hugs, Y

Hello! My name is Ana and I'm 31 years old. I am Brazilian, with Portuguese nationality and living in the Netherlands.

When I was a child I was not fat but never thin either. I started gaining weight when I was a teenager and on age 14 I started to try diets and spent some vacaiton in SPAs (my mom is also overweight so I'd go with her). Everyt ime I would lose a lot of weight and later on put it back with some extra (as I think most of us). Now that I am maybe thinking of having kids I couldn't bear the thought of carrying even more weight and also risk my life and the child's. Well, being a mother can wait but I decided that having a healthy body cannot! When I can't anymore get home without stopping to rest (I live on the 3rd floor with no lift) and every day just to wear my socks is a nightmare I think it's time.

So I am set for my laparoscopic RNY gastric bypass on Jan, 7th, 2010. So far I am dealing with it pretty okay. No fears whatsoever. My biggest issue is that because my Dutch is not that good I can't really go into a support group in here and living so far away from my family and close friends might be a problem on the first days/weeks of "what have I done?" feeling. And that's why I am trying to search this support in the internet.

I believe a lot that positive thinking and attitudes help us face difficult situations much easier. :)

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! How impressive to have a member from so far away and we can be your support group.  I want to copy and paste a part of your message to help others understand about that "what have I done?" period.

I'm so impressed that you know any dutch!  I have a wonderful "pen pal" in Brazil.  I'm so glad you're here!
