Hello All,
I'm new to all of this, but I really like this group so far. I have my proximal RNYset for 10/22/09.  I'm up for any and all advice and suggestions for staying on track. I'll start my liquid diet on the 12th. Have a great day!

Welcome to our little group and I LOVE your avatar!!!  If you follow your doc's directions the first year, you'll be on track.  Change your lifestyle the moment you have surgery and if you want some of the best advice I can give, NEVER start eating sugar.  At first it will make you dump but eventually if you pu**** you'll be able to eat some of it.  Look at it like it's poison.  Also understand that cravings will go away when you quit eating things.  Some people like to say that if you eat just a little of something it will get you past the craving.  Think how well that would work with an alcoholic taking a taste of something to get past the craving. I don't want to overload you but stay positive and stay out of the negative mindset.  You'll need all the positive thinking you can use.  Stick with us and we'll be here for you.  I'm so glad you're here!
hugs, Y

Hello all.  I am new to the group.  I am 30 and live in the Garland/Mesquite area.  I had lap RYGB 7/23/07.  I have not been able to stop loosing weight since then.  I got a feeding tube in June of this year.  I have talked with a few surgeons and I may be having reversal surgery.  They just gave me some more med for nausea and suggested a protein drink with 500 calories.  Hopefully I will gain weight with that so that I don't need surgery.  It is nice meeting everyone.

Welcome to the group!!  I am so sorry you are havng these problems and even though some people may think they would want to be in your situation, that is just a serious as having the opposite problem.  Can you go to see any docs?   Dr. Provost has been around for a long long time and he knows his stuff.  Is there any way you can check in with him?  We are here to help so please let us know if there's anything we can do.  So glad to have you here.

It is funny that you say that.  I went to dr Provost yesterday.  He is getting me to try a drink that has 500 calories.  He also gave me a third medication for nausea.  He said if these two things don't work, he will reverse my surgery.  I will go back in a month.  You can pray.  That is what has gotten me through everything so far.  Thanks for having me.

I'm so very glad you went to see him.  Bless your heart.  I feel so much better now that you're under his care....so much better.  Consider prayers sent and I'm seeing you well and especially non-nauseated!!  Please keep us posted.
hugs, Y

My surgery date is January 5th and I am getting nervous. I have loved food for so long that I am afraid I will feel deprived when I can no longer have the foods I like, for example: Greasy Kentucky Fried Chicken breast with mashed potatoes and gravy and a couple of biscuits loaded with butter, or Lonestar Steak House filet minon, loaded baked potato, salad with ranch dressing.  Now I'm facing having a couple of shot glasses of beef broth as my meal.  YUK!!

Does anyone have any advice???

I almost missed this so I'm going to copy it and put it on the main forum part if you don't mind.

Thanks Yvonne,
I think I am just having last minute jitters about my upcoming surgery. It is a life altering situation and I have a hard time picturing myself eating small amounts and drinking protein shakes. I do need to lose weight and improve my health, so it seems this is the way to do it. I'm sure when I start seeing the pounds come off I will think back on this blog and say "How silly for me to question this surgery."
