WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes

I have actually seen a gallbladder that had been removed.
how would i describe it.. like a small water balloon. or maybe like the size of half of hot dog. and remember this was an UNHEALTHY one- so healthy ones much smaller and next to no weight. probalby less than 4 ozs. I would guess.. maybe even grams....
I am 5 ft. 6 in. tall,I have hazel eyes and brown hair. I currently live in Mesquite, Texas and this is my story.
I was overweight pretty much all of my teenage to adult life.As a child I was pudgy and I remember my mother bought me pretty plus clothes. I don’t know about you, but there is nothing pretty about being pretty plus sized as a child or adult.
I had Lap RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery (proximal) in 6/2002 and was very successful.
I lost all of my weight and made it to goal in six months.
I had all of my reconstructive surgeries approved by insurance.
I was thin for more than six years and due to a gastro gastric fistula I have gained some weight back.
I am now scheduled for a revision of my Lap RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery from proximal to distal for September 2, 2009.
Due to the fact that after the first surgery I always ate healthy and followed the rules (Protein first, drink maximum amount of water daily,no sugar or carbonated drinks, waiting to eat after drinking, taking my vitamins, and exercising) I have to doubt that I will be successful this time around as well.
I look forward to meeting you all soon.

If I didn't have my 2 older kitties when she moved away I would have taken that little dog home with me when she moved. Thankfully, she did find a good home for Lady when she moved out to California...
anyway- glad you're here. I wish you success with your up-coming surgery! keep in touch!

I never use to like dogs point blank period.
My ex went to Iraq and I was all alone so I needed a friend.
Our next door neighbor had a Chihuahua and we were together all of the time at her house so I started wanting me one.
We found my Nico and we've been attached at the hip since.
He is the most comical creature I have ever seen in my life.
Check out his pics on my profile.
I am glad to be here as well and thank you very much for the support.

Thank you sweetie for the compliment.
You are the best.
I love love love Dr. Nick too.
I realized that he was one of the on call docs for my first surgeon when I had my original surgery in 2002 and I already met him.. LOL.
He starred at me and kept saying I know you from somewhere. My eyes give me away all the time thick or skinny.
I then begin to tell him that I was big in the WLS community for a while years ago and that he probably saw me online a lot and plus that one time in 2002.
I now have 10 days 15 hours 30 min 6 sec left before my revision and I am sooooo ready.
This road has been hella long for us girlie, but oh so worth it.
I have learned so much about life and myself .
Things you can not learn in a classroom or textbook.
All of the trials and tribulations that I have been through in my life have only made me that much more stronger and determined in everything I do.
Thank you so much girl for the introduction.
Hugs ..
P.S. I need to tell you that I am so proud of you for all of the good work that you have been doing in the WLS community. Keep it up we need you.

My name is Jenn. I am 39 years old and weigh 270. I was recently recommend to see a bariatric surgeon by my orthopaedic doctor. he suggested that I get a gastric by pass. I have my 1st appointment with the bariatric surgeon on thursday the 27th. My sister is going to be my support person. I am a single mother of a beautiful boy, who is 5 years old. He is going to kindergarten in september.
I have always had issues with my weight. When I was a teenager I plumped up to about 150 and then in 11th grade i had a swimming class and got back down to 130. But ever since then it has been an uphill battle and my weight has just kept going up and up. Now i have moderate to severe arthritis in my knees and swelling of the lower leg and feet. my BMI is 46 and my ortho doc says that he can't even think of operating on my knees untill my BMI is below 40. But from what I figure if i lose at least 100 pounds, I may not even need that surgery for a long time.
my ortho doc has said that he will write letters of medical necessity for the my insurance to pay for it. But I have medicaid and I am not sure how many speed bumps that will throw into my path.
Any ways, that is my life in a nut shell ..
Thank you all for letting me join this group
Jenn
Welcome Jenn!
You weight ten more pounds that I did when I started and how cool that your doc recommended it. Back when I had it my doc said NO WAY. It didn't matter, I was doing it anyway.
I know there is a lot of help here so don't give up. If you do run into any speed bumps, ask everyone you can on this board, on the main board, on your state board.
We're really glad you're here so jump on in and come and play! Ask anything you'd like because that's why we are here!
hugs, Y

Yvonne has been a friend of mine for several years. I met her through her husband, a radio guy that I listened to daily. I went to one of his meet and greets and met Yvonne there. I really can't remember when I found out she had WLS, but my wife had her WLS in June 2006 and 18 months later it was my turn and I had the most wonderful angel around. Yvonne!
I am 58 years old and have been married to the same wonderful woman for 35 years. We have 2 children, 6 grandchildren and have adopted 2 greyhounds.
We live in Texas. Not native Texans. But I guess we are Texans now. And Yvonne can tell you, I don't normally admit to that. LOL. I am a Yankee, born and raised in New York. I joined the Air Force and served our country for 20 years. My last assignment was in Fort Worth, Texas, so we stayed here. Did not want to move any more.
I am glad we did, because if we had not, I may never had met the right people to encourage Mary and I both to have WLS.
A couple of other things about me. I work two jobs, about 16 hours a day (from the time I leave my house to the time I get home). I love my baseball and am a season ticket holder for the GREAT TEXAS RANGERS. I watch a lot of TV. The DVR was a great invention. I also have TV on my cell phone, just so I can watch while at work. It saves me from watching some shows on my DVR.
Not much else to say. Besides, it is about time for me to go home and get some sleep (I work overnight).
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
