My name is Donna and I'm new to the group. I had RNY surgery on 11-02-04. I live in 30 minutes north of Atlanta, Georgia with my three fur babies: Baxter who is a Husky mix, Samson and his mother, Sugar Bear who are Maltese. I recently found out about your group when Yvonne's article was posted on the OH home page. I'm excited to be here and look forward to meeting you.
Donna
I've been so busy and I'm trying to be more active here. I'm so glad you are here because if you liked my words then you are in the right place. We are all kind. Please feel free to post. I'll be a little gone for the next week because I'm going to New York for the Obesity Help Event and have tons to do! I love people with fur babies too! Welcome, so glad you are here!

I'm always inspired by Y's positive attitude, and since I need lots of help in that department, I know I need to be here.
I have always been fat, starting when I was about 5. I had many reasons to turn to food; it was (and is) my drug of choice.
I'm not sure of all of the rules around here, so I will try to read up before I make any posting errors.
I can't say my highest weight because I never got on a scale that was able to weigh me at my largest - no truck stops nearby and I was good an in denial anyway, so there! :) I did get down to 333 when I was weighed for my laproscopic RNY on 2/14/06. I have not been a great patient. I got down to about 216 at my lowest. Right now I am hovering near 230 and unhappy. So here I am. Ready for some positive energy and helpful nudges.
Hope I'm in the right place.
Karen
You are in the right place. There are no rules except to respect each other and give support! I've never had to ask a single person to behave and that's wonderful. As I said earlier, this next week I will be scarce because I'm going to the New York Obesity Help event but I'll be back. I have a very busy facebook page and lots of email so I'm sorta spread thin but I'll do better at being active here. Welcome!!! I'm in Plano so we aren't to far away! So glad you're here!!

I'm fairly new to OH having struggled through my first year on my own. I'm14 months out of a RnY and have lost 75% of my weight. I have another 20-25 lbs to go and have stalled due to my own laziness. I KNOW what I have to do so I've reconnected with WLS sites to get some support and kick-start my mojos. (I accept kicks in the rear from friendly sources!) That said, if I were to stay at this weight forever, (165) I'd be thrilled to pieces because I feel sooo good and consider myself "normal" when it comes to how a 56 year old woman should look. I do, however, want a good BMI so I have a widdle more work to do!
Additionally, I've been on many message boards over the last 15+ years and have even created a few. All were based on healthy eating. Go figure! Eventually I burned out on two things;: sitting on my butt all day and dealing with the infinitesimal group of people who can turn a friendly board into an ugly board. Fast forward to now, I decided to give OH another look and after a couple weeks of looky-looing and posting, I decided to personally request the name of proven, friendly boards since I also started to see some spottiness (snottiness?) on the main board. So, thank you Chris for the referral. I am so pleased to meet you all!
Oh yeah, I am 56 as I said, a married, stay-at-home mother of 2 grown kids - 22 & 24 - with one still living at home. I also have two, older step-daughters and 4 grandkids. I live in Orange County, CA and had my RnY on my 55th birthday as a gift to myself. No regrets here!
I love to cook and create recipes. I guess I have a thing about following directions - I prefer to make my own rules, hence the weighty issues.
