It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!
We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they
ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

I've been to two meeting and they have very interesting. They have an amazing support system. On line meetings, telephone meetings, face to face meetings and you can even listen to speakers on-line. It's pretty neat. Take a few minutes and check it out. The website is www.oa.org

I've been an active member of OA in the past. Right now I'm not an active member simply because I don't have a chapter in my area, but I do subscribe to the OA worldwide list because I was going to try to get an OA penpal a while back. I've had this group going at various different times here (I live in a small city ~ it's actually a group of small towns all pulled together now under one umbrella). Anyway, the problem we have always run into is getting people to share responsibility for the groups' tasks like opening the doors of the meeting hall, and taking responsibility for the literature, etc., etc. The gals want to come to the meetings, but they don't want to assume any responsibility keeping the group going so unfortunately our group has folded. Long story short, I see no issue with practicing both programs. If you really want something to think about, another program you can look into is Women for Sobriety.org. It is a program specifically for women, originally designed for women with alcohol or substance abuse problems. However, it has also been used by many women who are compulsive overeaters. It has message boards and a chat room, both of which are available 24/7. The program is very empowering and very positive and it focuses a great deal of energy on building a woman's self esteem.
As to your last question, I need all the help I can get girl. And I'll take it from whatever corner I can find it!!! So long as the program applies to me I will try to apply the principles and suggestions to my life. I do however suggest one caveat. A long long time ago when I was first introduced to Al Anon there was a saying that they used to read at every meeting. I don't remember all of the saying but I do remember the jist of it. Basically it said some of what you hear in these rooms you will not agree with and that is okay; just take what you need, and leave the rest. I always remembered that saying and many times over the years I remembered it, thinking, "Oh, yeah, now I know what they mean by that!!!"
Hope this makes sense to you. Have a great day.
