Topic: RE: activity??
Greetings
We are a group in Fargo. A few of us are online for this web site, but we generally don't post much on this page. I/some of us just use this page to keep track of when the next local support group meeting is.
I personally post on the MN board, ND board, Main board and RYN board.
I am not sure which type your looking for as far as friends/topics/surgery type etc.. I can tell you that the ND board is very slow and I and a couple others try to keep current and post things on it. Your more then welcome to attend meetings, blog ask questions etc.. someone will answer your needs in on way or the other
Nice meeting you

Welcome and congrats, as you ready for your re-birth of sorts. Happiest of days to you. Hope you can make it to some of the support group meetings. They are pretty laid back and helpful! Bring on any questions you may have or ideas. No questions are dumb, only the ones that go unasked.
Take care

Welcome Chris,
You should be excited about being approved and getting your surgery scheduled. It is a rebirth of sorts. You get to start your life over again. You will be just fine and have nothing to be nervous about even though we all go through it. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hope to see you at the meeting on the 14th.

Topic: Surgery Date!! Jan 18th
I am new to this group and am just beginning my Journey - I know the importance of support and though I have a strong support from family and friends, I think the most support can come from people who have had the same experience! I hope that there are folks out there that can be helpful support for me, and I for others.
I am excited - I got the call yesterday that I have been approved for surgery - I have a surgery date for RNY Gastric Bypass on January 18th 2010!! I am very happy, nervous, and relieved in so many ways!
I pray you all are doing well and continue your journey to a health you have always dreamed of!!
Blessings,
Chris

Topic: Sneaky sugars
High fructose corn syrup will make you gain weight, but you should know that table sugar {sucrose} is just as bad. Both are a blend of glucose and fructose and all sugars add about 16 calories per teaspoon to your diet. Check nutrition labels for sugars under their many other names- fructose, glucose, dextrose, maltose, lactose, galactose, maltodextrin, molasses and rice syrup. While some sugars are easy to spot, you may be surprised to find that a 6 ounce nonfat yogurt has more than 32 grams of sugar {thats 162 calories} and 1/2 cup cup of spagetti sauce has more than 11 grams of sugar.
Some things are better rich.. coffee, men, chocolate
Topic: 100 Pound Celebration
At our support group, one member talked about having a hundred pound celebration. What a great idea! She said the persons who came to her party had to bring 100 of anything to mark the occasion. She said one person brought 100 pencils, another 100 marbles (joking that since she lost some of hers, this might help her 'reclaim' a few more!) She had 100 erasers, etc. Everyone agreed that those of us who have lost 100 or any weight of that magnitude should celebrate our loss because it is a significant accomplishment. Too many times, we hear it was 'the easy way out' and other critiques of that type, but this type of celebration reminds us of what an accomplishment and milestone in our lives it really is. Maybe Hallmark will start making 100 Pound Celebration Cards??
