119.8 after appetizers and dinner out last night with extended family.

A nice afternoon and evening yesterday got me out of my funk. We didn't get home until about 9:30 so we were up until midnight - very late for us. We watched a couple of episodes of the rather romantic novel-like show Virgin River. Humboldt County is where you are Diane S, correct? Beautiful scenery in that show.

Today we do laundry and start packing to return to Florida tomorrow. Like all Christmases we have more to take back than we came with (since my gifts for others were shipped here). I may have to leave a few things to take back after the summer as we only have carry-on bags. DH is going to lunch with several of his friends from high school or earlier. I will drive him to one of their homes 1/2 hour from here and on their way back from lunch he will be dropped off to pick up the rental car to get to the airport tomorrow. Likely a shared dinner out tonight to avoid leftovers. I feel like we planned food relatively well to avoid having too much to throw out.

This afternoon I have to return all the stinky anti-rodent stuff to my car (mothballs, peppermint balls, dryer sheets). It did air out enough to be bearable but I can see why it repels the animals. The car was pretty pungent at first.

Have a scintillating Saturday!

Maybe a touch of SAD with holiday funk. It is dark by about 4 here, nearly 1.5 hours earlier than Florida. It is a bit later in the morning there before it gets light but not by a lot - the day is definitely longer. And of course it is much easier to get out into the light during the day when it is warm.

Figuring out how to recycle as much as possible when I cleared my house was certainly a challenge. In the end there were possibly a few things that went to the dump, but likely in the swap shop at first so maybe not.

It would have made a lot of financial sense to have our kids go to the U of M, where they were both admitted, and commute from our house. But I too wanted the whole experience for them also. They each chose a college that was a good fit for them. In the end, the extra cost was worth it. They both had great educations that have placed them in rewarding careers, and made truly life long friends.

Oh my goodness! I was lounging in my jammies this morning when the doorbell rang. I thought it was the gopher exterminator, but it was my friends Amy and Cathy with flowers in a ceramic vase Amy had made filled with flowers her dad had arranged, a happy birthday balloon, party hats, a case of Diet Coke with a bow on it, and a box of gorgeous pastries from the local bakery! Honestly, I've never had anyone go to such lengths for my birthday, I welled up. Such amazing friends! I'm so lucky! Everyone donned the hats and we chowed down on pastries and coffee.

Then the gopher guy did come to lay bait (it's breeding season so the mounds are everywhere). So that dirty deed was done.

Then I cleaned my closet looking for a scrap of paper with the amount I owe my dad for my flight home from MI in September (I'm in arrears!), which I never found, though in my mind's eye I can see it in various places, but it's nowhere to be found.

Then a dog bath was done and a blow dry outside with the dog blow dryer. He loves to chomp at the air. And so much fur came out and flew around it looked like we were in a snow globe.

Now thinking about a snack and out to dinner later. A good birthday! One of the best!

Hope you all have had a great day. Take care!

214.4 - down another tenth. i'll take it!

Post Christmas Winter funk is definitely a thing! Sorry you were feeling blue yesterday, Liz. I think a lot of people have post holiday funks, or let down after the holidays. Some have SAD. I am lucky to not have many symptoms associated with Seasonal Affective Disorder! BFF is severely affected! So is my brother's father in law.

Yesterday's cleaning did not happen as hoped, but I got a start at least... More today... Maybe... LOL

Had a really good workout yesterday, followed by 30 minutes on the treadmill. I believe my addiction tendencies are transferring to exercise. There are worse things, I suppose. Today is a partner workout with my trainer - always fun.

Blitz had a long distance date today. The girl lives in Nebraska, so his DNA had to get shipped FedEx overnight. Another date tomorrow morning! Animal husbandry sure has gone high tech!

Ron wants to go to a movie, so we'll have to figure that one out!

Not much else here. At least no rain so far today. Stormed something fierce during the night. I did not waken, but the debris in the yard was plenty of evidence!
