Greetings all

Sunny here and almost but not quite hot. Works for me. I did my usual trip to the studio and glazed some new things. Also did banking and picked up payroll plus financials. I find we have a 9 am board meeting so I had better read this stuff. Thats on the early side for this old owl but I will manage. All kinds of proposed projects so we shall see.

Yeah muscle mass is an issue for us old people. I am sure I lost what little I had. During covid I was even more sedentary than usual and when it gets harder and harder to move it becomes easier to just sit around. Awhile back when I had that tendinitis issue it made things worse because I had to wear that crappy boot thing which made hips hurt. One thing they make old people in pt do is stand up without using your arms. We should all work on this. If there is a small weight increase after an excercise program it should not be alarming. muscle weights more.

What a great trip Liz. Should be fun. Exercise your sea legs! Ladder climbing skills!. No walking of plank though. GL on house stuff.

Wow Peps two weeks on the road. What an adventure. You totally know what to pack but just be prepared for extreme heat. I once went to minneapolis shows outdoors and it was 100 degrees.

DH was using his balancing gadget today. Reminds me of old reducing machines from the 60s. I agree that working on balance is important and I should do it too. But I think I will just practice standing on one leg. Actually it's a challenge for me to walk the treadmill without holding on to anything. Works those core muscles.

CC hope you can stay clear of the infirmary unless you are needed.

Cheers. Diane S

190.8. Going the wrong way!

It's been raining pretty hard for hours. I wanted to run some errands, but keep thinking the rain is going to stop soon, and more keeps popping up... At least it's soothing to listen to and cool out! And it's straight down, so all the windows are open and the rain smell is coming in.

Still an infirmary across the driveway at the parent's house. So I continue to steer clear.

I don't really know anything else. Take care all!

Liz, I'm glad you are thinking about your muscle mass. It is important! Clinical studies are showing an average of 22% lean body mass loss over a year of taking tirzepatide, while up to 40% decrease in lean body mass was seen in certain patients in a 72 week period.

As for hanging skin, as much as I am loathe to say it, I am finding that in myself, too. I believe it has to do with age and fat loss, rather than muscle loss. I have always had very sturdy legs and as I lose weight, my thighs are becoming more defined, so I know I'm not losing much muscle there. BUT.... on my left thigh, especially, I have icky loose skin! Blech.... Never had that before. Yuck, yuck, yuck! But it is what it is and I prefer the smaller me to the larger bodied, fluffier version of me! LOL I've also got bat wings and some saggy man boobs. Also, as we age, our skin loosens naturally due to subcutaneous fat loss. It's just a sad truth of getting older. I will take loose skin and aging over the alternative!

Ate salty, salty foods yesterday, so I'm up a half a pound or so. But several handfuls of movie popcorn and two small slices of pizza for dinner along with good company was well worth it! I enjoyed the movie, too! However, I thought afterwards, "Did I really need to see Twisters right before driving through the midwest at the tail end of tornado season in the northern plains?" LOL! I did love the special effects and really enjoyed seeing Maura Tierney in a mature role!

Today is packing day! Have to pack the car, my clothes, and doggy supplies. Two weeks on the road is a lot! I don't usually do more than 5 day stints, so preparing for a full two weeks living out of a suitcase, going from hotel/motel seems a bit daunting. At least, I have a wonderful number of choices for show clothes to bring along. I am loving that!

I will be spending a lot of time on the road the next two weeks, so I'm guessing my check ins will be intermittent.

Weight going down again! Yay! This weeks injection seems to be working better!

Liz, that trip of yours sounds wonderful! How fun that you get to travel with friends!

Cloudy, rainy day today. I think we might go out for sushi. Not much else planned for today.

Tomorrow is my annual bloodwork. Anxious to see if the meds made any changes in my lipids! I was low on Vitamin D last year and added a D3 3 times a week in addition to my regular multivitamin. I actually had too much Vitamin D a few years after the vsg from all the supplements I was taking. Right now I only take calcium, the multivitamin and the D3 for supplements. I used to take biotin also but never really noticed a difference with it (mostly concerned with nails, not hair) so I quit it! Is there anything special you are all supplementing with on the GLP 1s? I see some Tik Tokers taking electrolytes, collagen, etc.

Peps has me worried about my muscles. Though I don't feel weaker I think I have lost muscle in my legs and arms more than in past weight loss as my skin is much looser. My arms aren't that surprising because of the shoulder surgery and I am working on strengthening them daily but realized that I should add some work for my legs. Though I have continued my long walks I haven't participated in other strengthening activities like I have in the past, again because my shoulder has restricted me. I googled exercises focusing on legs that I can do at home. In the fall I will be able to rejoin some past activities and potentially start working with the new trainer here but will have to wing it on my own for the summer. In the meantime I am paying more attention to how much I am eating still trying to have enough protein in the mix.

The home inspection was last night and I have retained an attorney. The broker said the inspection seemed to go well but we won't know until later this morning if they want me to make any fixes.

I had the strangest dream last night that they found a room off my basement that I never knew I had. It was sort of an office with an oversized AC unit in it. They requested that I replace it with a smaller more appropriately sized one. Weird!

We worked on some details for a trip in March with friends last night. We are chartering a boat in the British Virgin Islands with 2 other couples for a week, staying the 2 nights prior in Tortola and the 2 nights after in St Thomas. Should be an incredibly fun and amazing trip. The others have done things like this in the past so not as amazing to them but they are super fun people and we are really looking forward to it.

Today we need to clean the condo so it is ready for the bachelorette party descending here a month from today. Tomorrow we fly home assuming Delta has stopped cancelling flights. I hope we make it as I have 2 appointments on Thursday that I need to get home for, and we drive to NY on Friday to see DH's DS and DIL who are here from Poland for a week.

Have a writative Wednesday!

Greetings all

It started foggy and chilly but now it's warm and sunny. I spent some time in the studio and did some glazing as well as picking up about 10 new things to take to my woefully empty gallery area. Items delivered and I feel better. Prices raised. Can't sell out so fast. The little village of Trinidad is hopping and all the tourists are out enjoying its unique charm.

Hmmm Liz, you had better eat some more. And make it protein. Part of my gimpyness at this age is I think due to muscle loss during rapid weight loss and then no muscle left when I regained some flab. Hence gimp. But as I have often said even my minimal treadmill walking each day has made a noticeable difference.

DH got yet another electronic gadget which is sort of balancing table. You stand on it and it wiggles back and forth supposedly helping improve sense of balance. I tried it. Hate it. Felt like I was going to fall all the time. DH can have it. Not sure why he things he needs this but oh well.

Yay to everyone whose clothes are too big. Congrats and hot damn. More power to you. There is no feeling quite like "Wait, this is too big!".

Not a lot to report today. Scale the same. But my short's waistband which is unforgiving with no stretch is looser.

My dad caught Claudia's cold. He came to sit outside my house for a while and really struggled with his balance to get back. I had to hold his arm to make sure he didn't fall while he shuffled back and swayed. A real wake up call that even the smallest illness on an older person is very hard on them. So far this summer we're just bounding from health ailment to health ailment!

Crazy thing I read today: This will be the first Presidential election since 1976 to not have a Biden, Bush, or Clinton on the ticket. 48 years! Mind-boggling.

I think that's all here. Hoping for everyone to start feeling better here.

Take care all!

Sounds like real estate transactions in CA are like FL. Much simpler.

141.6

Just a really short drop in to catch up on the hap's

I, too, was a "scooper" In high school at Millers Ice Cream #1. The dairy and ice cream factory was right there in Eaton Rapids (original Miller got tired in the 1880s of selling his milk for nothing and ...). Big Ice Cream Festival every year. Oh...Paula, you have nothing on me re ice cream sampling! My favorites....where should I begin?

Signing seller contract and paperwork-pictures tomorrow so nitpicking just everywhere which is tedious and putting me in a mood of sorts. Liz, I'm just so happy that you hit the almighty "sell first day" lottery. But, then, your house, from what I saw, is just spectacular and it would be unusual if it didn't sell immediately.

Devon, I've had just that same experience as you described- just goes to show that the number itself is irrelevant as to value. The difference is in the direction one approaches it.

Off I am, catch you later, gators!
