It was very good! I could only eat a half of a bowl! We use round steak for the beef, add mushrooms and onions and the sauce is made with a rue, a little tomato paste, beef broth, sherry and sour cream and we serve it over rice instead of noodles!

PS - how cool you lived in Taos! You certainly have packed so much in and lived so many different lives!

Isn't that cool? The oldest house in the US, oldest church, oldest continuous use public building... buildings from the 1600s are par for the course in Europe, but it's really something to see them in the Southwest!

I agree with Diane S -- get it! In fact, ALWAYS get the art. :)

I adore Santa Fe and absolutely ADORE Taos where I lived for 10 years and found it to be the perfect place for me after 20 years in L.A.

That part of the world is American in such a unique way that most Americans know nothing about. So crazy that the big plaza in Santa Fe (and several buildings on the plaza) were built before the Pilgrims landed.

End of a long day of more decluttering, mowing and mulching all the leaves (only one more of those cycles to go before putting the mower to bed for the winter), and packing my car to head back to KY tomorrow. This morning I also inspected and reserved a climate-controlled storage unit, so that box is checked off.

My "bus" is scheduled to leave tomorrow by 7:30 am. I'll arrive before the sun goes down and be with my honey through Thanksgiving.

Not a lot more to report. I'm appropriately tired and hoping for a great night's rest. I confess that last night's insufficient number of hours asleep was due to my realizing that Downton Abbey is streaming again and watching 3-4 episodes from Season 1. I need to be more disciplined tonight and not do that.

My dinner tonight will be one of those 290 calorie frozen food boxes that tastes a lot better than it should, given all the preservatives it contains. And I don't care.

It's not even 5 o'clock here, and I'm ready for bed. Life is good. :-)

Greetings all

The atmospheric river is on the way. Light rain started. I went to the gym which was almost busy and between the time I arrived and the time I left, the wind really picked up. Like a lot. I met a woman at the gym who has the same hand disease I do - Dupuytrens disease. Would have talked to her more but she was having personal training. Maybe a new friend sometime. Seemed like the time went faster when talking to someone. The fishing channel was not quite mesmerizing.

Well Liz thats sad about the suffering wife of alcoholic. There are reasons she should know about the philandering (medical) but who wants to be the one to tell her and is it right or kind? Who knows. But enjoy the cowboy party!

Beef stroganoff Paula. Sounds great! Comfort food on a cold night.

DD adventures in salmon!! Food cooked by someone else is always best. And leftover salmon makes a good salad with mayo. Wishing you speed on the reports and such and a cozy evening with the dark sky.

I didn't really eat dinner last night. Had a 4pm snack of tuna and crackers and just did not feel like eating. So the mushroom chicken remains for tonight. Maybe needs pasta for comfort factor.

So our gallery membership meeting has been canceled due to the weather. Power may already be out up there. It's good because there was nothing that important to do and I avoided my conflict of how to vote on a person who is a good artist but I don't like personally. Maybe she will go away.

I am hoping we keep power. Our neighborhood has buried cable but beyond the subdivision there are old fashioned lines. Trees blowing them down becomes the issue. I will think about it later.

Another meeting in the morning and DH goes to cardiologist. More rain.

Diane S

Home from Santa Fe! Freezing there, but we had fun. I like it there. Yesterday, I had 17,000 steps. Kirby had a great time at sleep away camp according to his report card. I had them give him a bath so he's squeaky clean.

I found a ceramic totem pole there by a folk artist that I think I'm going to get. It absolutely goes in the category of ridiculous purchases, but it's so cool. They actually will bring it to me and set it up. Crazy, I know! But each figure has at least 4 pieces and there is a very specific way they fit together... It's 95" tall, which is great because of my high ceilings.

She's really renowned in the folk art world and they have delivered her totems as far away as Switzerland. So whimsical! It's totally going to have to go behind a fence to keep Kirby away.

Anyway, now I have 2 days before my next set of houseguests come in. I will need a month to recover...

Onto laundry for me. Take care all!

If I were to guess she is like your BFF. Really lovely woman in all ways - she doesn't deserve it, but we all make choices for our own internal reasons.
