Last year when we spent the month of January in Fl, we had way more cold days than warm. Only a handful of beach or pool days were had!

I think I'm the odd woman out. I don't like the smell after a rain. I think it smells like worms. I like the smell of wet leaves or a wet forest but that worm smell gags me!

Yes, I do think it has been cooler this month at least - we were talking about that with friends tonight who agree.

Justice still has his dewclaws. The new Vet asked if I wanted them removed when he had his teeth cleaned next time. But I liked that she said they were a little jaunty so it was up to me (pointed out future potential nail problems). They are really floppy so kind of move when he walks LOL.

Of course you know some of us (me) had to look up petrichor. Nice to have a name for that smell (one of my favorite).

Mom successfully had her second surgery in two days. This one took 6 plus hours. They ended up replacing the metal post in her femur as it was a bit loose and cleaning out any infection that was there. Looks like she will be in the hospital until at least Monday and then a skilled nursing facility for some time after that.

Saw a new area on Maui today. Very beautiful! We ate at the Mediterranean food truck we ate at our first full day here. I got a shrimp pita, a little too saucy but good. Tonight I'm making grilled teriyaki chicken skewers with grilled red pepper and Maui onion! I've been snacking more than usual and definitely having more alcohol but I don't care. If I gain a little on vacation then I did vacation right!

Enjoy your long weekend working peeps!

Greetings all

The sun finally peeped out. DH went to lunch with guys at the marina but no sun for them. I reveled in having the house to myself and total control of the tv remote. I went to the gym and did my walking. Talk about fixation on small numbers! I love each additional .01 of a mile that I can add and each single calorie burned. Place was rather busy with all the elliptical in use. Minimal grunting. Quick store stop after that.

Yes it seems like weather reports for southeast are colder than usual. Cold all over the east. Seems like this should be the best time to be in Florida but I am no meteorologist.

Liz sounds like you have a fun golf group who are not hyper competitive. Fun. Hope your SIL gets some rest and pain relief.

DD yay a long weekend. Your time and energy is valuable and can be best used by sleeping late.

Hmm Peps never thought about vets and docking. Kind of you to help a friend. Good you found a work friend for lunch much watch.

Yeah that amputated finger story was weird. I wondered as well about leaving with ones finger in a jar. A nurse told this story. Who knows.

Worked on the lease from hell this am. Have a new approach. We shall see.

CC I think Kirby has a promising career in HVAC. He looks so intent. And yay for rain even if it's just a smidge.

Tomorrow is the memorial for our friend who died just before Christmas. It will be hard. I expect a pretty big crowd. Lunch reception to follow. Not looking forward to any of it starting with finding something to wear.

Fish and chips tonight from DH lunch. Yay for the lunch club.
