I think DH is still in disbelief. He has worked for the same company for I think 35 or so years. He thought he might have some tears on his last walk out of the building. He did say some of the "old timers " almost made him cry today with reminiscing old stories. He has a pretty soft heart!
Liz, congrats to DH on the weight loss! That's awesome. Such a great feeling to fit into old clothes that were previously too small!
Paula, congrats to your DH on his retirement!!!! How's he feeling? Mixed emotions?
203.2 today. Still okay in my book. I'd prefer a 202 weight, but the 203 range is perfectly fine. I had a few extra carbs than normal yesterday because I decided to participate in Taco Tuesday. I don't usually eat a lot of carbs at night, but tacos are not tacos without tortillas! It was a yummy dinner!
I did the treadmill yesterday for exercise. 30 minutes on a fat burn program was way too easy, yet I didn't want to pu**** because my eye is still most definitely in the healing stage. At least it was something. I felt like I needed to move my body. I can get back to weights next Monday. Technically I could start up again on Thursday, but I don't want to pu**** Last thing I want is a complication in an eye surgery. The idea is terrifying.
My puppy has been chosen. Now I must figure out a pick up. I will do a quick fly to North Carolina and back. I'd like to do a red eye and get in early in the morning and fly back at night, but I can't find flights to accommodate that itinerary. Looks like I'll have to stay over one night. They sent me a posed photo of him to show structure. I'll post that on TT along with the video of when the pups were 4 weeks old. He's the Black and Tan puppy with the yellow collar. He draws your eye right to him. Personality plus!
16 work days!
123.2, uhh ohh. Almost 2 lbs. below my low goal range. I upped my calories another 100 to 1400 daily, though I don't always get my calories in. We are spending the weekend in Door County so calories should be up for sure!
Today is chilly with the wind (feels like high 40's). I think I will do the treadmill for exercise. DH gets his retirement cake today and gets to say his goodbyes. He will turn in his keys and phone and laptop as well. He is scheduled tomorrow but will probably only go in for a few hours. What is he going to do without a phone or computer? As it is, there has barely been anything for him to do!
No plan what we will have for dinner. Now I'm lacking the mojo!
Hope you have a nice beach day Liz! Congrats to DH on his weight loss success!
119.8
I did not go to the pool yesterday mostly because it was too hot. Summer-like weather has arrived. The 2 dogs and I were wrung out after our 3.5 mile walk yesterday morning. We are going earlier today. Instead I altered a couple of clothing items and I put the first coat of paint on one bedside table. When we bought this place almost every piece of furniture was dark. I have slowly been painting them because I generally like the style of items, just not the darkness. I'm saving my purchase plans to buy 2 new sofas for the fall.
Today after our early walk I am going to water aerobics, then we may go to beach club for the afternoon. Definitely a day to sit under the umbrella on the beach.
Today is DH's weigh-in day and he is hoping for a good week. He certainly looks a lot thinner especially in his face and he has been able to get into clothing he has had for years but not worn.
Have a wonky Wednesday!

Your DD is at such a great point in her life! Sounds like she makes friends easily.
Sorry about your aunt and uncle. We see that in friends where something health related happens and even though they mostly recover it changes their future completely. We have neighbors here in there 80's (not the ones who belong to Moby) who were very active until the wife fell and broke her pelvis. She has recovered after many months, but they just sold their place here, are working on selling their other long term home, and are planning to move into a community where assisted living support is available when they need it. They said it was an eye-opener about making changes.

I looked at the Hokas, too. Just too ugly. That sole is just too much for me. I'll stick with New Balance. Roughly the same price.
Oh, I hadn't updated Teva prices in my head. I typically pay $90 -$110, but I bet they're more expensive now too. I've been eyeing Hokas. So ugly they're kind of cute thing? Several co-workers swear by them...
I always do because I learned early, early in life how important shoes are. When blessed with EEEE width feet you learn to pay for what works. I just don't like paying for it sometimes! I used to be able to buy New Balance for between $80-100. Now, only 3 years later I'm looking at paying about $140 for the same shoe.
Liz, I would have picked going to the pool, and that is why there is dust on every surface in the livingroom. I need to invite some friends over for dinner to get me motivated!
I chatted with DD about all the fun she's had in the last weeks ( bridesmaid in a wedding, a bachelorette party for one of her Roma girls). At one of the gatherings she was chatting with someone's sister about wanting to date, and this young woman had DD look at her contacts, and then gave DDs number to 5 different people. Better than having to find them yourself wading through responses online! As DD says, if her goal is to meet someone for a serious relationship, it's a numbers game. I hope she has fun while she's on her journey to the right one, be it a girl or a boy.
We are heading to Boston on the 15th for her graduation and party. DS and his lovely girlfriend, my BFF and her boyfriend, our dear friends (DHs best friend, and whose daughter is also one of our daughter's best friends) DHs brother and his wife (daughter's godfather), 2 of her high school friends are all traveling to join the party.
I am sad though, that my dear Aunt and Uncle are not able to attend. My Aunt had a stroke a month ago and at the time I suspected I was not getting all the details. A previous stroke about 7 years ago left little deficits, so my guess is she wasn't sure of impact of this one, so waited to share all. She is getting a lot of therapy and using a walker. They do not feel up to the long travel day to get from Amherst to Boston. DH and I will go see them Sunday morning the weekend we are there instead. It is hard to reconcile. Two years ago they wore us out on our cruise. It may have been the last hurrah as they billed it then, but I didn't want to see it that way. They are incredibly resilient, and I'm sure there is still joy and pleasure in store for them, but I think it will be much closer to home than previously. Even though there is much to be grateful for, it hurts my heart all the same to see their wings clipped.
Teacher appreciation week was a fun lunch today. It was a ballpark lunch with hot dogs chips, candy etc. It worked well because the chips were in single serving bags, etc. Easier to control portions than a huge table of sweets. I ate half of everything: half a hot dog, half a bag of chips, half a bag of M&Ms. I felt like I had a nice treat, but not too much.
Being able to remember what things cost even a few months ago is a frustrating skill these days!!!
