Greetings all

Quick check in before I go out and about. Kiln opening. Have a great memorial day all. We won't do much except remember our service men and women. My dad was a Navy Sea Bee in WWII stationed in Atu and also on a ship. He was also a ship fitter. My mother's brother was killed in Italy. He had a daughter born two or three days before he was killed. The telegram announcing her birth was returned undelivered. The impact that WWII had on our parent's generation is beyond measure. WE all need to think about this service and sacrifice - especially when our democracy appears to be in peril.

Well off to do something fun and maybe even useful. More later if anything happens.

How cool that Bug and Grizz have become fast friends! Our dogs played a little more together when they were pups, now they just usually hang out with each other. Emma doesn't like to share her humans though and will hop down if Bella tries to intrude on pet/snuggle time.

I think you will be amazed at how quickly not working becomes the norm!

They just stopped the semaglutide a week ago. The FDA took it off the shortage list on 2/21/25 and the compounders had to stop in either 60 or 90 days depending on the type of pharmacy. So they stopped on 5/21/25.

I'm surprised the Henry Meds isn't doing the generic Ozempic. That is "legal". It's still on the shortage list and from my understanding generic versions of Ozempic are now allowed in the US.

Isn't it weird how weather occurrences which have always been around now have these new names which make them sound more significant than we ever thought previously?

The only time I have ever seen Justice pal around with another dog was one week when he stayed with our sitter here on the Cape. For some reason this other dog and Justice bonded - usually he just sniffs around other dogs, then ignores them mostly.

So Orderly is still providing tirzepatide? Must be relying on custom dosages, etc? HenryMeds stopped both tirzepatide and semaglutide once Lilly brought suit against them. I have enough purchased through bulk order to last me through most of the year though and will probably get it from Lilly after that.

202.3

The Pacific marine layer (or the Fog as we used to call it) came all the way inland to cloud us over this morning. We are 37 miles from the Pacific coast! It's now burning off, and I'm hoping for a bit warmer weather than we had yesterday. The weather is supposed to progressively warm to a toasty 96 degrees on Friday!

I'm having a lot of fun with little Grizz. He makes me smile. He's a really good puppy. I'm glad that he and Bug have become really good buddies. It's nice for the dogs to have a Bestie!

I have really enjoyed this weekend home! Dottie and Lucky have gotten badly needed trims and overall, I feel pretty darn relaxed! I've also started "project planning" in my head. I think that's a good sign. I can see I will get used to this no working thing pretty quickly.

I need to contact Orderly Meds to ask about my upcoming check in. My next check in is due while I'm in Europe. I will run out of meds while on the trip, so I want to have a supply for when I return home.

Yes, thank you to all who have served in the armed forces! As Paula wrote, I hope we are able to keep the freedoms for which men and women have bravely fought. I believe that's debatable. One of my co workers is picking up and moving to Europe in August. Her husband has legal residency and citizenship, but has already been hassled several times when flying for business. He is very wary of the climate here and decided it's time to relocate. My coworker is sad, but understands and is supportive. At least it will be a great "adventure" for her kids!

On positive note, all 4 of my grandmother's boys served in either WWII or the Korean War and made it home safely! My dad never even left the US! He enlisted in the AF for a special mechanics program and was stationed in Oklahoma during the entire Korean conflict!

125.4. Only up .2 I think. I?ll take that!

Still need to unload the car from the art fair. I?ll start that soon as I feel a nap coming on!

No food in the house so we had to do a grocery run this morning. DS3 and his girlfriend will come here for a grill out tonight (and maybe a fire and dip in the hot tub) and then DS3 will stay the week! Yay! He never stays! DC1 will be hanging out with us as well. DS2 is staying in Madison and the newlyweds will stay in Milwaukee.

Tonight we will have our trusted grilled pineapple chicken teriyaki sandwiches, grilled veggies, Mom?s famous pasta salad and I think DS3 is bringing home rhubarb so I can make rhubarb crisp!

So glad you got to your second home safely Liz and even more happy you booked a trip back your FL home this summer! Cool that DD is having an anniversary party of her bachelorette party! You showed them a great time last year!

Happy planting DD. I?m going to our local garden store tomorrow to pick up mint and basil, hanging plants and Hostas.

Enjoy your Memorial Day everyone and thank you Diane for reminding me why we are celebrating this day! So much more than the first camping weekend of the year (as it was for me growing up) or a day to grill out with family and friends (even though the day will include these things as well). Many sacrifices made for our freedom. Especially praying that those freedoms don?t go by the wayside!

No fires AND no grilling even over gas??? That seems odd. No restraints here on the Cape and in Florida you just shouldn't grill on a lanai. We may have a fire in the pit tonight (if I stay awake long enough).

Glad you are back safely to Massachusetts Liz. I wish there was an easy solution to get family to help consistently with the house upkeep, especially when they benefit from it so directly. Surely they want things like the AC when they're staying. I know its the principle of the thing, but if its not an economic hardship, maybe DH should pay to get things done. Or sit down with family AGAIN and say here are the jobs, Dad can no longer do all of them, which ones do you want to do, or pay for and divide them up? Maybe the "kids" might prefer to pay for their share of the work?

Another pleasant, sunny day. I'm hoping to finish planting the current batch of bedding plants I have. It takes longer because I'm prepping each flower bed as I go, (mostly raking leaves out) rather than getting all the beds ready, then planting. I like this method, because as I start a new bed, I can look at the completed one with satisfaction. Gives me motivation to keep going.

We had a nice fire in our backyard fire pit last night. It is nice that we can still do that in our city. I know in parts of Minneapolis the density of homes, people make it prohibited. We have friends who live in a nice town home that can no longer grill on their deck. I guess I'm living in the wild, wild west.

Thinking about Memorial Day. At one time, my Great Grandma had 5 sons overseas during WW2 at one time. 2 died, one had permanent injuries.

My Uncle was shopping at Target about 20 years ago, and when he handed his check to the cashier, she looked at his name and said, did you know Rudy Hillstrom? My uncle answered I knew of him, he was my uncle who died in WW2. She quietly said, He was my first husband. They must have been teenagers. Heartbreaking. So many lose so much during wartime.
