Good morning! I am completely depleted but happy. We've been going 110 miles since we landed on Thursday. Made our first Costco run Thursday, then went to DDs apartment, back to the hotel at 10:00 pm. Friday graduation day, left the hotel at 7am, returned 10:30pm. Saturday, party day, left at 9am, back at 10:30pm. Sunday, left the hotel at 9:30, drove 2 hours to see my Aunt and Uncle in Amherst, drove back, dinner with Boston Mom and Dad, and back to the hotel at 10pm. Whew!
The graduation ceremony was surprisingly moving. They asked the 1st generation students to stand (1st in their family to attend college) and probably half the students stood. Amazing!!! So many joyous, proud families, many of them clearly immigrants, who sacrificed to give their children opportunities they didn't have.
The party Saturday was so fun, but tiring. DD found a cool venue in an old theater. I've joked I could cater my kid's weddings from Costco, but doing this party for around 70 people just about killed me. Everyone says they're going to help, but once the party begins, they become guests. It was amazing to see all the communities DD has, book club friends, friends from her very first job in Boston in 2015, from the job she just left, from her new job, from school, one friend she met when the 2 of them were attending theater solo whose whole family came, even her hair stylist. We finished the night on DDs deck eating leftover party food and taking shots with "the kids". Whew.
Yesterday we went to visit my Aunt and Uncle, and learned my dear Aunt has to have a complicated surgery. She has a very atypical hernia that will kill her if it is not repaired. It's scheduled for June 20. My Uncle's son will be with them for the surgery, and we offered to come for a few days when he leaves.
Today we are not leaving this hotel room until the last minute! Then we go to DDs apartment, and probably go bet some lunch, and then to the airport around 4. If all goes well, we will be back in Minnesota around 8:30 pm. Then back to work for 3 days. I already put in for a sick day on Friday, and now I am so happy I did. I'm looking forward to our quiet house and tea on my porch the upcoming weekend.
If I knew it was the last day of my life, I would choose to be with family, both birth and chosen, and I would meditate with gratitude about all the wonderful things big and small that made this journey so worth it. I'd like some sunshine too, like Liz.

6 days until we fly north. Packing must get serious. Questions of what to bring home for the wedding in Madrid have been answered. We also need to get the house cleaned and stock up on non-perishables like drinks for the anniversary bachelorette party here in mid-August. Plus tooth crown to be installed today and hair to be done tomorrow. Lots of last week stuff.
The Nine and Dine yesterday was a lot of fun. Thank goodness there was a good breeze the entire time so it actually wasn't too miserably hot. And dinner was tasty BBQ themed.
As to Ann's question: "What if this were the last day of your life? How would you like to spend it? How much attention would you be paying to everything?"... I probably would feel much like my daughter did and want to be with my loved ones having an ordinary but warm and sunny day with my dog curled up in my lap. I would listen to the birds and smell the air. Not earth-shattering I guess.
Have a momentous Monday!

The slugs are awfully cute (slug and cute in the same sentence seems weird though). I can see why they are quite popular and apparently well traveled ;)

Greetings all
Checking in on this sunny day before I head to the studio. Neighbors are weed-eating which they rarely do. A bunch of college students lives there. They are actually pretty quiet and don't party but tend the lawn only once a year whether it needs it or not.
Poppy seems a little better today. She got out of bed to eat the remains of my eggs just now. More loafing on the couch for her today.
So I need to get to the studio and make more stuff as I have had good sales recently. Paula you are right - some people in California just have too much money. Plus our gallery gets tourists from all over the world. Some of my slug figures went to Singapore.
We started a new show last night. Murderbot. I was initially uninterested as it is sci fi and such but the robot has developed human abilities including being sneaky and naughty. So it is kind of funny. We also like The Studio which is about Hollywood ridiculousness.
Peps hope you are home safe with Neon Leon. He is so cute.
Ann glad you can now enjoy the kitchen. Yay. As to what I would do if it was my last day, probably get a bottle of wine and a lawn chair and go sit on the beach with dogs and DH. Or go to LA to see the new grand niece if it was possible.
Safe travels Paula.
And Liz sounds like it is time to leave Florida. I forget how hot it gets there in the summer. No thanks. Ace the tournament.
Not much else. We have shrimp from Costco tonight which I might stir fry with some veggies. And I need to get the rest of the plants into the planters.

I actually found your last questions to be good ones to ponder. Makes one want to live every day to its fullest and savor the time (especially at our age).

Oh, dear! What a thought... Your words took me by surprise and unsettled me. LOL

Another beautiful morning here in Kentuckyland. I'm not sure what we'll do today -- perhaps I'll head back to the gym (only 1.2 miles from our home) for an extra session of pumping iron and yoga.
We had a wonderful time last night laughing and cooking in our new kitchen. We have only limited pots and pans, dishes, and silverware, but we made it work. The sirloin was wonderful. DH was so happy to be cooking again--dancing, playing air guitar, and making do with what we had to work with. I think everything here is on the upswing. :)
What if this were the last day of your life? How would you like to spend it? How much attention would you be paying to everything? :)

HOT, HOT, HOT here. Yesterday we ran around and did errands and ran from AC in the car to AC in the buildings. A taste of summer here. It was the first day of this heat wave where there wasn't much of a breeze which makes all the difference. When we walked with Justice on the golf course last night (we can let him off-leash then) it was still stifling out. Even he barely had the energy to chase a rabbit very far.
Hopefully today will have more of a breeze in the afternoon (the forecast says it will). We are playing a Nine and Dine golf tournament with friends (play 9 holes, then dinner).
Wonderful pictures of the wedding and the new puppy yesterday! Many happy events.
It is 7:11 and the bus leaves at 7:30 for Sunday breakfast. Have a surprising Sunday!
