Greetings all

Another warm day here. I went to the studio and not many were there. That's because on sunny days like this they are all at the beach. These are not swimming beaches as it's way too cold, but fun to walk on and look for rocks.

So I did a little glazing at the studio and thats about it. Seems like a couple of hours is enough for me. Pretty much everything is enough after two hours.

Yeah CC I get it. The "thing for the day" can be all consuming. My scrabble friend and I have discussed that one can only do one "thing" per day if it involves leaving the house. And yeah I used to have meetings and turn out documents and be on the phone with multiple matters every single day. No more. Today I got the gallery insurance paid over the phone which means spelling my name out and email and all kinds of other stuff and bank numbers and bla bla bla. Then I got the call from the cal tax department to help me figure out our status. Person was helpful and did get it straightened out. But geez how many numbers do we have to have? They gave me four contact phone numbers, transaction number, entity type number (which has changed from when we set up) and who knows how many other numbers. This was the response to me getting so angry that I called our state rep in Sacramento. But it worked and now thats done and tax is paid. I am just computer challenged to start with and crooked fingers make all this even harder.

DD glad school is going well. Hoping that this retirement year ends on a good note instead of last year's WTF.

I have not tried the Chikes drinks but hear good things. One thing I recall being pretty good is health wise protein tomato soup. Not a lot of calories and not sweet. I think I still have some circa 2008.

Liz that museum sounds cool. And a whole new island! I say go for it.

Somehow I woke up this morning feeling pretty good. Usually I feel like I got hit by a truck. Wish I knew why.

We have been watching Bad Monkey which is funy and weird. Also Sunny which is just weird.

Thanks for the Netflix tip Peps. We will check it out. Better than exploding aliens.

I thought I posted at some point, but I must have not hit the submit button...

Very windy today making it cold today, but pretty nevertheless. I walked Kirby, did laundry, stripped the bed, tidies the kitchen, worked on my neighborhood newsletter, and got my thoughts together for my update at the HOA board meeting tonight.

It's funny I really struggle with doing anything else on days I have something scheduled. My brain gets all consumed with thinking and fretting about The Thing. And when The Thing is late in the day, it gets to stew in my brain all day. Hard to imagine I used to be in back to back meetings all day, 5 days a week! I saw a humorous Instagram post with a woman sitting in her foyer with her coat on and purse at 10am waiting for her 3pm appointment. That's me.

Shot day today. I was down 0.8 this week. Would have been better, but I was ravenous yesterday...

Anyway, off to sit in my foyer with my imaginary coat on!

I'm home for a bit, then need to head back for Open House tonight. Advantage to living within 6 miles of work, while others who drive further are just staying. Makes for a long day as we will wrap up Open House around 7:30 pm.

Back to work is going much better than last year. There are hiccups and problems to be solved as would be expected, but I don't feel as crazy. Lots of students stopped in to introduce themselves while I was working, and a few students from previous years. It's always sweet to see former students walking their younger siblings around the building to help them get acclimated and see their pride as they introduce them to us.

Weight is holding steady, without any real effort on my part, besides making sure I take my shot at some point. Protein continues to be an ongoing struggle, but I am mostly doing okay.

Do any of you use the Chike protein coffee? I've heard good things. There is a variety pack for sale on Amazon I might try. I bought some Quaker Oats high protein, apple cinnamon flavor. Blech!! I was so hoping I would like it, because when heated up with Fair life milk it has a good amount of protein. Oh well. I can probably come up with a higher protein oatmeal if I use an overnight oats recipe with Greek yogurt and chia seeds.

168.9. Not sure what the exact weight was but I have moved from obesity to overweightness. Yay!

Layed low today, skipped my weekly gardening at church. I just didn't sleep well at all last night! I will still go to couple's Bible study which tonight includes a potluck. One couple just got back from an Alaskan vacation and a different couple went to Hawaii not too long ago so there will be sharing of pictures and stories before we dig into Luke!

DS3 comes for a short visit tomorrow until after dinner on Friday and then we travel to Madison on Saturday to see DS2 and go to the Farmer's Market and Taste of Madison!

I have been increasing protein trying to be in maintenance the last few weeks - just not counting the calories. I try to make my snacks be protein rich and eat more protein at my meals.

Not much here. Up 0.6 this morning - as expected. School, work out and grooming on the schedule today. Not a lot of rest time.

We are watching Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches on Netflix. Not nearly as good as the novels I read back in the 80s. But after 2 episodes I was invested. So watching all 8. 5 down, 3 to go. If you haven't read the books, I think it's probably pretty good. Ron likes it. I just find the vibe too different. The lead character is too weak compared to the novel.

Liz, I'm with you on the calorie counting. I don't think you need to necessarily count calories, but rather gauge your intake. My current NUT suggests counting calories 1 time per week just to check one's average intake. That might be enough for you. Since you mentioned muscle building, just remember you can not build muscle while in a calorie deficit. So, you'll need to increase protein calories no matter what you chose - building muscle or simple weight maintenance.

Pretty much it from me today.

Weight 121.2 (up 1.2). Funny (but not) how an uptick from being the lowest in my preferred range makes me nervous even though I intentionally am eating more.

Yesterday we had a good visit to the New Bedford Whaling Museum, then an early dinner with friends on the waterfront. Lots of history - I had never been there even though it is only 40 minutes away. We did not finish the museum in the 2 hours we were there. The waterfront is filled with commercial fishing boats. Quite a beautiful view.

Today we are headed to Martha's Vineyard for lunch, meeting Florida friends for a drink, and dinner out at a restaurant DD gave us a gift certificate to for Christmas 2022. We never made it over last year. Again, only about 45 minutes away (by ferry). Speaking of which we found out there was a ferry to an island called CuttyHunk from New Bedford. We have also never been there so we might try that next year (though it will be about 35 minutes more to drive to the ferry from DH's house vs mine) - hmmm.

Time to get cleaned up. Have a winsome Wednesday!

Congrats on a win against the Shark!

Yes, lots of STUFF in homes, even second homes though this one is worse than Florida because it was my first home for a while. Good luck to your friend dealing with it all.

I hope the antibiotics work quickly. A UTI is so uncomfortable.
