Liz, that all makes sense to me. Despite the fact that we're all children and most of us are parents, those two identities and need sets and skill sets come in lots of different sizes. There are probably as many different kinds of parent/child relationships as there are relationships.

The wild thing to me is that nobody gets any training in how to be a parent.

Ugh, Peps. Those also aren't necessarily what I'd call "little things."

I look forward to hearing about your meeting with the state pension agency and hope it all turns out well. I'm glad you're closing the teaching chapter of your life. It's been a long one and, from what I can tell, a very successful one.

Laugh as much as you can as often as you can! As you advised Peps, we need to enjoy life while we can because we never know what the future will bring.

DS saw a therapist when he was young (for anger issues at about age 8, then after his sister died). We were told that he feels love, happiness, anger, sadness, all emotions deeply. His biggest asset and his toughest (in the negative phases).

Hmmm, I've been considering starting Baby Reindeer. If you thought it was worth your time, I'd probably like it ...

Liz, I hope DS was able to calm down and mend any fences he troubled while he was spinning. He seems like a person who feels deeply, which can be both lovely and disruptive, depending on which way the feelings are flowing. And your DD was 32 when she passed? Oh, that hits me hard. My DD is now 32. Hugs.

We arrived at the restaurant at 6pm, and stayed until 9pm. So much laughing. We met at a place that was owned by our mutual friend who passed away almost 2 years ago. His son is now in charge, and is the godson of my friend who we met up with.

So cold still. Not much to be done but stay indoors, and dress warm when we have to go out.

DH is out with his BFF. I think this is the first time I've been alone in the house since December 19. I like it! I love my family, but I'm happy to have alone time too. I never got to finish the New York Times on Sunday, so that's the plan for the evening.

All that's left is for your bed to actually rock you to sleep. Sounds wonderful.

Haha, I'm always trying to get DH to give me some of his space. We try to travel with just carry ons, and I always have thoughts about what else I could sneak into his bag, or his under the seat space.

Darn appliances!

I met with retirement pension people last year. Yes, sometimes you have to just know that enough is enough. You have to be reasonable (which is why I didn't retire at 62, the numbers just didn't work). You could chase higher pensions and higher social security etc, for years, but to what avail? I'd like more retirement income, sure, but I'd also like to move on to the next phase of my life. And who knows how long that phase will be?Your father has been blessed with many healthy years, sadly, your mother was not. And I comfort myself too with the thought I can earn some extra money if needed. Or maybe I'll find I even want to :)

Greetings all

Checking in on this cloudy day before I go to the gym. Scrabble was fun. Won one, lost two but all were very close. I thought I had The Shark on the ropes but no dice. I skipped my Tuesday cheeseburger - just not in the mood. I showed the scrabble group the elevator sign. They have no clue either.

Liz, no parenting advice from me. But it does seem like the right thing to do to tell your DH if he is acting on incorrect information. Hope it clears up.

Last minute packing Paula! My DH does that too. I have to nag him to get started. Once he was up until 3 am when we were leaving at 6 am. Hoping your flight goes well and all coughing and sniffling disappears on landing.

Well Peps, the pension board does not sound fun. But I bet it's all good and it sounds like you need to be done with what you are doing. When I retired early I was very $$ conscious for a few years but it all worked out. So start dreaming of how you will spend time.

Yep Ann cabin fever. Comes on pretty quickly. Makes me think of covid when the grocery store was a big outing. Glad thats over-ish. The flu is supposedly hitting our county big time but we have had every shot there is.

New bed CC - sounds terrific. Does it cook dinner too? We have one that used to vibrate and do ZG mode but the motor has stopped working. Costco knock off of the temperpedic. Wishing you years of good sleep. Take a video of the first time Kirby experiences massage mode.

We watched the rest of Baby Reindeer last night. It almost exceeded my weirdness quotient but was worth it.

Well time to wander off and do something constructive. I see a hint of sun! Diane S

I get your Dad! Being a Mom, and a partner to my husband are what most defines me, gives me meaning and joy. But sometimes these people just need to figure out some things without my input :) And then sometimes they amaze me with their wisdom, so it flows both ways.
