164.9. I thought that big drop might have been too good to be true! Still happy with the loss.

Warm and sunny today. Too warm to take Mom to the Botanical Gardens. DC1 hanging out today. Otherwise, shopping errands have been run, laundry is being done and I prepped tonight's dinner (meatballs with mushroom gravy) yesterday so that only needs to be warmed and rice made.

Anyone heard from Peps? Hoping all is well with him and his Dad!

I don't like dark colors either (other than black dresses for going out). I find them depressing.

We have great apples in the fall here in New England. I'd love to bbring some back to Florida with us if we have room.

I use very few "recipes" but can generally tell you amounts and ingredients in the things I make! Here is a good one for all of you. Easy and delicious! Not much protein but you could add chicken or shrimp or sausage if you liked.

Tortellini Soup

4 cups chicken broth

3-4 cloves minced garlic

1 can diced tomatoes with Italian seasoning

1/2 package tortellini (I prefer Costco's 5 cheese)

smaller package of fresh spinach

Parmesan cheese for topping

Add broth, garlic, tomatoes and bring to boil. Add Tortellini and coo****il done (usually 5 minutes), add fresh spinach and coo****il fully wilted. Serve with Parmesan cheese on top and crusty bread if you like!

A bonfire and Old Fashioneds sound like a perfect evening. Are you a brandy or whiskey Old Fashioned girl? I prefer brandy with oranges and double cherries!

We're experiencing the same here except, being somewhat south and west not so early as you. I remember going to school in the dark and, if I had play rehearsals, not leaving school till dark...

But, hasn't the full moon been outstanding these last few days...Just like day almost only it's 3 am.

Not local, but Costco had amazingly ripe peaches for this area. They usually arrive rock hard in our Northern stores. Enjoying one or two peaches a day as I go through the flat before they spoil.

133.6

I forget sometimes the privilege we have and availability of fresh and tasty foods. I have all these cookbooks, but rarely do I explore other than familiar and convenient. Same with foods....Oh, the boring ruts I fall into. While I truly do not have access to your lobster, Liz, (living in the interior has true fresh seafood issues ) I'm reminded by Ann's fruit and veggies list of the upcoming apple and orange season! Why waste time and taste buds when one can enjoy Paula's recipes? So, keep up with your favorite, healthy and tasty foods and dishes . I'm off, after church for fresh apples, avocados, etc and garbanzo beans are soaking for hummus. Sunday football yummy stuff to be relished today!

I look forward to wedding planning updates! I hope the weather holds. October can be so beautiful.

I did go shopping yesterday, but shopped the clearance racks. All the new items were burgundy, dark navy, beige, black, deep teal... All fine colors but I'm just not ready to leave summer brights behind. I do love cream/beige/black combo (I have a lot of animal prints!) and wear those colors a lot in the winter. But even in this season, I look for brightly colored pieces, especially after reading about dopamine dressing. Apparently bright colors can impact our overall moods. I notice when I do wear a hot pink sweater in December, I get a lot of compliments.

DH enjoyed his formula 1 outing, and cheerfully told me that i made the right choice because it was really loud. Even the videos he showed me were obnoxiously loud. We ended the evening with a bonfire and old fashioneds. A very satisfactory Saturday.

Today, read the paper, do some laundry, and go downtown to see the musical, Back to the Future. We're trying out some wonky tickets. The old fashioned "boxes" on the sides of the balconies are considered partial view so are cheaper. What I like about them is that they are real chairs, and there is nobody sitting in front of you. I may be willing to give up being able to see the far left corner of the stage for these comforts. We'll see.
