204.9 - essentially same as yesterday. Today should be shot day, but I'm going to go back to my regular Thursday schedule and wait until tomorrow.
After taxes were done, filed, and checks were mailed I went to work out. I think it was needed. It was a good one and helped soothe the sting of writing an almost 10K check to the Feds. (I had capital gains tax to pay... I was expecting to pay about 5K, not the 10K required!) I also had a "GULP" moment when I checked my balance on one account that I refused to look at since the market has tanked. I am down in that one account 20K since January. YIKES! Having to take money out of that account to pay my taxes really, really stung. I'm pretty sure that skin removal or any PS will wait now until 2026. Boooooo..... But I could be wrong.
Diamond D, we now have free breakfast and lunch for all students in CA. I agree with Liz that its a much better thing to have all kids on an even playing field for school nutrition.
One of the most wonderful things about staying home and taking care of taxes yesterday was all the periphery organization that I did in my office. Actually doing the taxes doesn't take more than about 90 minutes. It's the organizing all the paperwork and making sure I have all my ducks in a row that takes me the longest. So, I spent a lot of time going through extras since I had the time. I found stuff I had been hanging onto for over 20 years in one file (e.g., records of improvements on the former house that were no longer needed)! Of course, I got a little distracted and worked on some dog files and current home files that were not tax related, too.... But YAY me.... I"m glad I did those things. Tonight I will be shredding pay stub records that are well beyond being needed now!
I wish my RV/Motorhome would sell.... Would be so nice to have that off my plate. That's really the only albatross around my financial neck...
Winning, wistful, whacky, whatever Wednesday to all!
No, I ate them 2 nights in a row. DH had a tooth pulled on Monday so couldn't eat them anyway!
119.2 - seems like the Cape Cod scale and the one here in Florida are more or less in synch.
Uneventful trip back yesterday and it is so nice to be warm again. Really nice! Having the airport here 10 minutes away makes it all so easy. We were home by 3:30 and did a somewhat shortened Justice walk at 4:30. Even though it was easy, DH and I felt tired. Maybe because we did get up earlier than usual yesterday.
I realized when we got here that this feels like home now. I used to call my former Cape Cod place my home and this was my winter place, but now it is home.
This morning DH plays golf. I have water aerobics, a Justice walk, laundry, food shopping, and I don't know what. Tonight we are meeting old friends of DH for dinner. DH did his weekly weigh-in and lost another 2.6 pounds. It is getting noticeable in his face - one of his golf friends up north commented on it.
That's all the news from down south. Have a warming Wednesday!

When deceased DH was working we used to extend every year because DH was never ready to get his stuff together (self-employed) and the partner in his building who did them for us was an accountant so doing everyone else's last minute stuff. We would pay a bunch of money in April by estimating based on the prior year. Half the time we paid too much and the other half we ended up with a penalty for not paying enough. And we always almost forgot the later date to file so still scrambled at the last minute.

Sorry that I am chuckling again at Kirby's antics. It must be so frustrating. But someday when he slows down you will look back and chuckle at what a devil he was too.

Absolutely use those sick days if you don't get $ for them when you leave. We had a combined bank of days off including sick time, so we did get equivalent funds when we left. In my last years I used most of mine every year (even though I was getting something like 8 weeks a year) so I didn't get a lot but the check was a nice little retirement gift.

Some Massachusetts school systems supply breakfast/lunches to every kid (so no forms). It is in the budget. I like that because it means there is no embarrassment for the child *****ally needs that food. Everyone is equal.

I keep a feeder out all year. We have over-winterers! You?ll even see them feeding in the snow. Natural plants I think are always best, but not much is blooming yet here.
The irrigation lines are that 1/4" drip line. It's under the rock mulch, so he either digs it out, or gets it at the emitters and yanks it up out of the rock. Then swings it around like a lasso and chews it up! Such a jerk.
Federal and State taxes paid. I may be an outlier, but I feel I get a good return on my state taxes. One of my favorite ways my tax dollars are used is covering school lunches for every kid. I've seen enough kids who qualified for free lunches whose parents were too negligent to fill out the forms (because they weren't the ones hungry at school) or kids whose family could afford the lunches but were too negligent to keep money in the account, and then the kid is told they have a negative amount, but they can have a cheese sandwich. Why should kids be punished because their parents are jerks?
I am a slug when I get home. I don't have the bandwidth some nights to even read the paper. Lucky for me, DH gets us groceries and makes supper. Not like the kind of dinners happening at Paula's house, but it's food. Tonight was eggs and bacon.
We have Friday off ( but in case you're wondering, it's because of extended spring break, and not because it's Easter weekend), and I am so happy. Almost there!
