119 - injection day
It is so cold here with winds whipping around and a damp mist! Though we usually sit on the lanai with the glass sliders closed it is too cold to do that right now - we need the sliders between the living room and the lanai closed to hold in the inefficient heat produced by our AC unit. I suspect we are sucking up a lot of electricity but I don't care. Even DH has stopped complaining about me turning on the heat.
SIL got home successfully. I did send a note to her DS and good thing because he was going to pick her up at the baggage door. I can just imagine her arriving in baggage in a wheelchair and having to ask someone to retrieve her bag, then trying to wheel it to the door by herself. She hadn't really explained how hampered she is to her DS which I kind of suspected. When I brought her bag into the terminal here she was telling the woman that she thought she only needed the wheelchair on the other end. Thank goodness the woman convinced her to take it on both ends because there is a fair walk to the plane, then a rather steep ramp to go up to get into it. Hard to see her so frail.
I went with a friend to the fashion show/dinner at the clubhouse last night. Very fun! Also nice to see women making sure everyone was safe to drive. One woman was a little sloshed so another one jumped into her car to drive her home followed by someone else. No big fuss, just get her home safe.
Tonight we have a dinner out followed by the musical Mystic Pizza. Everyone who has already seen it has enjoyed it.
The tennis tournament here was almost a complete washout yesterday with only one match played in late afternoon. They are starting early and playing until after dark tonight. I believe it is getting extended by an extra day as well. The woman doing the volunteer scheduling has done a phenomenal job keeping everyone informed and filling in slots that keep changing times due to the rain delays. Crossing our fingers that it stays mostly dry all day today.
Have a toasty Thursday!

I hope you make it back safely today and get sleep on the way. That's the downside of traveling so far. When we went to Hawaii we were able to take a 13 hour nonstop flight from Boston to Honolulu. I rarely sleep on flights so that was much easier for me to stand than our Tahiti flight which was like your flight home to WI.

I could eat chili for a week and not get bored with it.
I think we all need To-Do lists at our age for errands. I keep a running shopping list and put the other errands at the top of it so I don't forget LOL.

Such a shame - certainly there are some government funded jobs that need to be reviewed/eliminated but a hiring freeze across ALL functions obviously isn't the way to do it. So sorry for your DD and for the homeless veterans she won't be able to help. Hopefully this dream job will open back up for her.

Somehow I never thought of Kentucky getting that cold but it actually is kind of in the middle of the US so I shouldn't be surprised. Keep warm!

Going to be a loooooooong day and a half of travel. Needed to check out of our condo by 10 this morning but flight doesn't leave until 9:00 pm. We have a layover in Denver and another one in Chicago before arriving to our little WI town after 3:00 tomorrow afternoon.
Think I will try and scrounge up some expensive airport grub, still have 3.5 hours before boarding! Praying I can sleep some on the plane!
I feel so bad for DD. I hope something similar might open up for her or a job will be waiting for her on 91 days! Thank God she still has her current employment!
DH likes the Murder in the Building series too.
Maui is also having a bit of a drought! Many of the previously lush green mountains are a dried out yellow these days.
DH uses the term short termer! 'Bout the same. He should be done sometime in April provided he doesn't need to take vacation for any reason.
Yikes! I think Kentucky might be colder than WI today! This sure is a crazy bit of weather!
I just heard Hump Day on the radio today, so the expression isn't obsolete!
