Weight 125.0

Whoops! I didn't mean to publish my reply that fast.

The home remodel punch list is getting longer and longer. We've agreed that we're now willing to move our furniture into the home before everything is finished--it's just taking too damn long! The stress has been real--for us and our contractors who've run into scheduling conflicts and are experiencing real life challenges themselves (unrelated to our remodel).

Another thing that's gone wrong is that we've realized (way too late) that our painters did NOT follow our instructions re paint quality and finishes we asked for even though we handed them a typed list of all our requests listing the brand of paint to use (Benjamin Moore) and all the finishes we wanted on each room's walls, trim and ceilings (satin, high gloss, matte). Turns out they used the lowest quality of a lesser brand (Sherwin Williams) and also downgraded all our satin and high-gloss requests to matte and gloss. My apologies for getting into the weeds with y'all, but it's a big deal for us. Furthermore, since we already paid the painters for everything they've done, we don't have much recourse to recoup our money. Instead, we'll hire another painter to do it right this fall/winter when painters have more time on their hands to do interior painting when it's cold and wet outside.

On the positive side--I'm thinking, I'm thinking!--spring in Kentucky is gorgeous! Our backyard is going to be such a gardening haven! We're still married, which is a bigger win than you might imagine. We're still upright and shockingly healthy for our age (DH's foot is still troubling him, but he's going to rehab religiously twice a week, and I'm back at the gym and in the yoga studio). I'm getting all my annual old-lady testing scheduled here through my new primary care provider. We're going to North Carolina in a few weeks to see family there.

Finally, I treasure you guys and apologize for not being present these last few weeks. This weekend I'll go back and catch up on what is happening with everyone right now.

Peps and Diamond D, you both must have mere minutes left on your moments-until-retirement calculators! I'm truly tickled for you both!

Happy wedding day, Paula! I hope it's a wonderful day with a maximum of joy and fun and celebration and a minimum of stress and nerves and the kind of weirdness that can befall such an event.

Wedding Day! Early check-in as I doubt I will have time later.

Yesterday was busy but good! We were the hang out spot as wedding party started to arrive and before they could check in to their place. They have 14 people staying at their VRBO! Lots of errand running yesterday!

We need to be at the venue by 11:30 for the start of pics, ceremony is slotted for 4:30 and then dinner and dance! Weather is cold and crappy! Good thing everything is inside!

119.2

Another beautiful but HOT day today (90, with realfeel of = 96). I hope the weather will cooperate for graduations and pre-wedding celebrations in other parts of the country!

We will probably brave the weather in a similar manner to yesterday - sitting under an umbrella on the beach enjoying the seabreeze during the major heat of the day in mid-afternoon. Prior to that we will do an early Justice walk, then I have yoga at 10.

Our dinner out at the restaurant in Jensen Beach was great! Interesting place with a relaxed vibe including guitar music outside where we sat at the bar during Happy Hour. Inside was white tablecloths and piano music. Both areas with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. I really wi**** wasn't an hour away though the drive there was easy.

Not much else to report. Have a full Friday!

I am sure they can do transition lenses with no correction for distance. But maybe just wear small readers on the end of your nose? I think that is what my friends do when they need them frequently to see in stores.

Here is the menu for that dinner - I guess it really isn't hot dogs, but didn't interest us nonetheless:

Today I tried to hook up a new hose reel to the only backyard spigot. It would not go on and neither would the hose. A little googling brought me to a YouTube video describing a tool that cleans and reshapes the threads on hose bibs when they have been messed up (usually by misthreading hoses). Who knew?? Amazon is bringing me one tomorrow for $20. Wish me luck.

I spoke with the designer today and made a plan for the next round of stuff I need done. Hopefully she can get to it before I leave. I also made an appointment with a screen repair person to fix my cat patio screen door (screened patio the previous owners put in for their cats) and to fix the screen on my back door that is getting thin around the handle. Might as well fix it before my hand breaks through.

I also managed (miracle of miracles) to trim Kirby's fuzzy bedroom slipper paws. He makes any grooming task a total nightmare, so I really am proud of us! They look so cute!

I think that's all for now. Hair appt tomorrow. I need it!

Take care!

Your poor dad, and you! It's so hard to watch parental decline. With my aunt's dementia, my dad would get sad that she still thought their parents were alive and vacationing in Martha's Vineyard. I said it sounds like a nice world to live in, where she hasn't suffered that loss and they are coming back to her any day. So in your dad's world, he's not in a care facility stuck on the floor for hours. He's at his vacation place getting the mail and being vexed by his mailman gluing his mail together. Sounds like a nicer world to have spent the night. Though, cameras the staff could check periodically without waking him wouldn't go amiss...
