Already thinking about going back for work? When do you go back?
Tough figuring out how to best help your parents. It is so difficult when the roles reverse with our parents.

On the Road Again....
Today we bid buh bye to Wisconsin. Today we travel west and north to Minnesota. I was able to get an additional night at the Minnesota hotel, so I'll get on the road sometime around 11 am. That will get me to Grand Rapids, MN about 6 or 7 pm. I'll be off to North Dakota as Diane returns from the east. Passing ships....
The longer I am on the tirzepatide, the less I notice a day that the meds kick in. I truly believe there is a build up of the med in the system and as I continue with the long term use the med level seems pretty stable in my body. What I notice most is that my mental appetite is more ambitious than my actual ability to eat. My satiety signals are quite strong on the medication.
I am hoping as I travel west the wet weather that seems to be coming east (from who knows where because it's not in CA where it is desperately needed for that damn fire!) passes me by. I'm not a fan of steamy, wet summer humidity. This morning, though, it is pleasant. It's in the low 70s, so the humidity is very doable. Yesterday the humidity was so high the dew point here was 75 degrees! That's just ridiculous!
I suppose I should get my act together and pack up.
Good morning! I've only purchased one home in my life (way behind the curve here in our tribe) but remember thinking there were an insane number of not picking details, and they still got things wrong at the closing. Hope this furnace thing gets solved and its all smooth sailing from here.
I agree that my most powerful restriction is a few days after injection.
We head home on Friday. I'll be ready to get home. We've had lots of fun, but I'm actually kind of tired. Might be from not eating enough protein. Once I'm home, there's only 3 weeks left of break. Thinking about home, I feel the weight of my parents needs and the coming school year settle on my shoulders. What to do for my parents is an unsolvable riddle. As for the coming school year, I'm feeling like let's get started so we can get it done, and I can move on. Yesterday I learned they finally hired new directors for Special Education. The Executive Director of Student Special Services looks to have a very diverse background, and taught in a number of states before they became an administrator. The Special Education Director is an internal hire, promoted from elementary coordinator to director. I'm happy about that. She was here before everything blew up, and might be able to right the ship. It won't matter much to me, but could be good for my co-workers.
The only plans today are to meet up with DD for lunch at her workplace. She wants to introduce us to her coworkers and supervisors.
DD gave me The Midnight Library for my birthday. I finished reading it our last day in Rockport. If you're looking for something to read, I recommend it.
Weight 123.2.
Lots of good stuff yesterday: Winning against the shark, combining homes requiring clearing out of clutter and donating to family members, listening carefully, winning shows, and trying to eat enough. We lead busy lives at times.
On the question of when the medication is most effective, I would say generally the second to third day for me if I noticed a difference at all. When it is at its most effective it seems to be about the same most every day though it might trail off a bit the last day.
Busy day yesterday with 4 appointments and out to a birthday dinner. The Purchase and Sale Agreement did get signed. Apparently the buyers had signed it Monday night but the lawyers didn't get it to me until 11:30 am, 1/2 hour before the deadline. But a new frustration- the furnace technician came and looked at what the inspector said was a problem. He said he couldn't figure out why the inspector wrote what he did (that there was a risk that a certain part could corrode and cause carbon monoxide leakage). He said that couldn't happen. There were 2 slightly loose screws causing a little water leakage that had stained the cabinet which he tightened then cleaned the stain as best he could. He described what he did on the invoice which I sent to my broker and lawyer. Now the other broker wants to know if he tested for carbon monoxide leakage. He didn't because the supposed issue wouldn't cause that regardless of what the inspector wrote. Reminds me of when I was getting a mortgage on my first Florida place and the appraiser had written that it was an over 55 community (it wasn't). The mortgage underwriter kept insisting on receiving the over 55 HOA documents which didn't exist since it wasn't an over 55 community. We had to make the appraiser change his appraisal to remove that before the underwriter would approve the mortgage. I asked my broker to ask theirs what wording they were looking for to clear the issue.
Anyway, at the end of the day we had a fun evening with the ladies (2 SILs, 2 nieces, and me). Lots of laughs.
Today I need to bring my car for servicing and get a loaner car. I actually hope it isn't ready until tomorrow because it is about an hour round trip. I'd prefer not to have to do that twice in one day. Not much else on the agenda.
Have a winsome Wednesday!

Hi everyone! I've been missing in action because internet was scarce at my Aunt's house, and these 2 80 year olds ran us into the ground! Part of what wears me out is that both of them have speaking complications, my uncle has aphasia and stuttering from Parkinsons, and my Aunt has a module impacting her volume. It requires very attentive, careful ljstening.
I caught up on the posts I've missed, weight losses, art sales, home sales, dog shows, road trips, sweet sweet frozen custard. and dress fittings. Lots of good news and a karma skunk when needed.
Today was another careful listening time at my Aunt and Uncles lawyer. We had a 2 hour meeting to discuss various trust and power of attorney options.
I have no idea about my weight these past 2 weeks and I know I haven't eaten nearly enough protein. I don't know how you do it Liz when you're on the move so much.
Greetings all
Great day here though there was a little mist in Eureka. Went to scrabble where I won two and lost one. Beat The Shark! Lost the last game by only a couple of points. Then I picked up my Tuesday cheeseburger at a little place where I can read the San Francisco Chronicle while I wait. A good newspaper is such a treat. We used to subscribe but too dang many papers around.
Ann good to hear from you. Yep we spend the first half of our lives acquiring stuff and the rest getting rid of it. Glad you have younger family who is willing to take it. That was my mom's justification for saving absolutely everything. Went to the dump. And good on you for seeking 1 story house. It's what is needed.
Stopped at the studio and glazed more.
SH has Poppy out for a walk. I know this because my phone tracks her and tells me when she leaves the house. Also DH is not here. Good clue.
I have the Olympics on. Water polo. A sport I do not understand and don't especially want to. Looks like under water football. But the mens gymnastics last night was fabulous. And all the muscular young men... Women's gymnastics tonight even though I already know who wins...
Paula hope you have a great pool day. Nothing better in July. Wait, july is almost over!
Liz I bet your sale goes through. So mu*****onsequential stuff can delay stufff including lawyers and staff who are not that concerned about a couple of hours.
Yay Peps for Molly! Sounds like the trip is going well. What a trooper she is!.
Not much else. Remainder of turkey BLT wrap for dinner tonight.

So humid today! When I woke up, you couldn't see out of the windows as they were all fogged up with the a/c on inside, hot and steamy outside.
Lots of little stuff done this morning, none consequential, but all satisfying to have done.
I have a board meeting this evening. Otherwise, nothing else I have to do.
Didn't bother weighing today.
Take care!
Busy day today! I get my hair cut and colored at 10:30, will try and eat some lunch (couldn't get all of my breakfast down) and then going to a friend's pool to hang out in this humid weather. DS2 will arrive this afternoon and I will make us ahi tuna sushi bowls for dinner. He needs to pick up some of his stuff here for his new apartment so it will be a short trip for him!
When do you notice the meds peaking after injection? I'm thinking it's day 2 or 3 for me. Food just sounds yucky to me right now. I will try to be diligent in getting my protein in. Friend wants to do ****tails by the pool but I will pass on those!
Glad that you stopped in to say hi Ann!
Wow, so much moving and selling -past, present, and future- goes on with our small group! Ann, I bet it will be hard to leave your idyllic acreage! I have seen a few photos of your pastures and woods. And then that house! I would have a hard time letting all that go. But, I understand, too.
I have no idea what my weight is doing. I can only gauge by clothes and what I'm putting in my mouth. I think I'm doing just fine. My meds did not arrive in time for me to take them along. So I'm going to have to piece meal together a dose from the three vials of "leftovers" I brought along for the ride. I may "shoot up" a day early so I don't have to deal with refrigeration for the rest of the trip!
If I get everything accomplished today as far as grooming goes, I will head off to Minnesota tomorrow instead of Thursday. An earlier departure makes sense and will allow me to be leisurely in my travels and give me more time at the museum on Thursday.
Molly is asleep on the hotel bed after a bit of a hard night. Her gut was bothering her and she had to poop twice during the night. Poor girl. She's done well at the shows. I am proud of her. She won the owner handled group yesterday and got a group 2 the day before. (For Diane S: Molly also racked up two 5 pt grand champion majors...)
Not much else to report.... Touchy Tuesday, indeed!
I'll quickly try to catch y'all up on my stuff.
My weight's doing fine. I'm now hovering between 125-128. The rather unexpected additional weight loss (coinciding with selling DF's home, us moving back to my home, working on my home, looking for a single-floor new home for us, and all the physical exertions and emotional impacts of those transitions) has finally stabilized. I've weighed in this range for the last 6 weeks. I have to admit that I don't hate how I look at this weight. Admittedly, I still need more pants that fit.
I continue to make progress on my home inspection punch list--2 new dishwashers installed, trash compactor repaired for $100 (didn't have to spend $1800 for a new one), electrician's fixing some minor GFCI issues, found someone who knows how to repair a glass door that doesn't open (locking mechanism is frozen), etc. I'm glad I have a few months to finish things up. Declutterring is going well and continues.
I haven'****ched much of the Olympics yet, but that will change soon. Mostly I'm awed by how beautiful the world's best athletes are!
This morning I have a hair appointment and a few errands, then later we'll be clearing out all the kitchen stuff I need to get rid of. There are so many duplications when you're combining two big homes. Happily, there are post-college grandchildren and nieces now establishing their own homes who look forward to receiving some of this stuff.
That's all I've got now, unless you want to hear me opine about political goings-on, but I know you don't.
