Afterwards they must have joined us in viewing the movie Conclave, as there was not a person under 60 in the theater. Hello my people!
Your first corn dog?!!!! I hope it was a decent one, as some are much better than others, says the lady who has tried so very many. They're one of my favorite junk foods.
We stayed at the Royal Pacific Hotel years ago during the great recession, when they were practically giving away the rooms ~ top drawer vacation, we loved it. Years later, when my kids were in college, we ended up in Cabana Bay at Christmas (long story, my whole family was supposed to go, but they all cancelled). Still one of my very favorite Christmases. I woke up before everyone else and instead of running around trying to orchestrate the celebration, I drank coffee by the pool under a palm tree. Must do that again some day.
Slept in this morning, and it feels great. Its time to get going on a few things. DS and his girlfriend arrive around 9pm this evening. DD isn't here until tomorrow morning at 8am. She leaves Boston in the wee small hours of the morning, hopefully before any of the big weather they're talking about on the east coast.
DF is doing bloodwork at his urologist's this morning while I sit in the car. Funny observation: I have never seen so many old men getting in and out of cars and going through the same door.

Still no weight today (at Universal hotel this morning).

Yesterday actually went well - my knees and feet didn't hurt much, just a bit of strain in my back by the time we quit at 5. DH's Ex had a rental scooter due to knee problems after having one replaced about 6 months ago and the other one needing to be done. DH commented a couple of times about how old she looked though she is several years younger than we are. A 9 hour day with half a corn dog for lunch. I'd never had one. It was pretty good but half was enough. Last night we had burgushi at a place called Cowfish. They had sushi and hamburgers but also these things that looked like sushi but were made of beef and cheese. Interesting concept.
This morning we are meeting for breakfast in 2.5 hours, then we drive back to our place, picking Justice up along the way. By the end of the day 9 people will be at the condo and we are all going to the clubhouse for prime rib night. We had to explain the dress code to the kids - no denim and no activewear shorts. They are at the age where that seems very foreign to them. Tonight 3 of us are sleeping at the hotel across the street and 6 in the condo (plus Justice). I wonder if Justice will sleep with someone? He is a great snuggler.
In re-reading this, I just realized that most of the comments on company are around the food. No wonder we all focus on food so much.
No news on funeral arrangements yet though that is no surprise with the logistics involved. I need to call some family friends who I am still close with today. I don't relish that.
Time to let the light in from the outside. Have a thoughtful Thanksgiving Eve!

So glad you got antibiotics to help you feel better. DS just finished his after having strep last week.

I'm with you on the long plane ride. The trip to Tahiti nearly did me in. DH floats the idea of going to Asia periodically and all I can think about is that awful plane trip.

Thank you. Yes, it was such a shock to everyone.
Lovely that you received such kind notes from your students. You know you are leaving the world better because of the impact you had on children.
And yes, we did have express lane passes that came with our hotel stay. The extra cost to stay at the higher level hotel was more than offset by receiving those passes for free.

Lucky you to have good teeth. Mine are also the kind that need constant maintenance. Genetics are interesting. Justice has big issues with his teeth - also genetics.

Frankly, I am so tired of the political discourse in this country! It does seem to bring out the worst in people. Paula, I'm sorry your DS2's friend deals with familial strife over political views. I find that so disheartening and truly bothersome.
I recently read an interesting article on the scientific research being done to understand transgender, cisgender, and non binary gender identity. Fascinatingly, it seems that there can be a difference between biological/physical gender and chromosomal gender. Who knew??? This could help us understand the actual biology of the sexual/gender identity continuum. I sincerely hope that the research continues.
Speaking of WL meds.... seems I have been taking the drugs long enough that Orderly Meds has bumped me up to Loyalty Level and I'm getting a good break on the cost of tirzepatide now! Whoo hoo! BTW, FDA is keeping Semaglutide and Tirzepatide on the shortage list until further review. Next review is scheduled for December 19, 2024. Until then we are all safe. I did decide to order two months at once this time, though. With the significant break in cost, I figured why not?
Weight 217.7, so up just a few tenths. I'm getting really comfortable with the ebb and flow of my weight while it continues to trend downward. That was not so in the past. I used to get upset about any upward tick.
Two doses of amoxicillin on board. Sinuses are beginning to feel better, but the drainage is now kicking in to high gear. Blech...
