Good news about Justice! Your new clinic seems like a good fit.
I sat on the porch this morning with a blanket, drinking my tea. Although it's supposed to be a high of 78 today, it's cold in the morning. I am kind of stunned by how much the light has changed in the month I was gone. I know the light changes, and the sun stays lower in the sky everyday this time of year, but I've never been able to sit on the porch in September mornings and observe just how much. It's 10am and no sun has touched my house. With all the trees and the hill on the south side, it's not high enough anymore. Once the leaves drop we will get plenty of morning sun, but it's so dark right now. And it's so quiet. I think many of my songbird friends left. I hear a few cheaps, but nothing like the concert going on during the summer. It's interesting to observe these details that I never registered before as I was leaving at 7am and returning after 4pm.
Today we are going to my parents house as soon as DH gets home at noon. My brother texted me earlier this week that my Dad got mad about the answering machine, that he couldn't turn it off, and he unplugged everything, and ripped stuff out of the wall, including Wifi. Luckily my Mom is adept with her cell phone and texted him and asked him to come and fix it. Reports were that it wasn't easy. Nothing with them is.
I struggled with posting some pictures of our visit with our Aunt and Uncle, because my Mom gets so jealous. But other family members do want to see the pictures, and it is an authentic representation of my life that I want to share. When she gets angry that someone else got some of my attention or that I traveled ,I just tell myself (and sometimes my Mom) that I haven't done anything wrong. People go on vacations. The last visit went well, but my Aussie sister took the brunt of complaints before I got there. There have been no other visitors except my brother since then. I'll hope for the best. If it's crazytown when we get there, well, I've been there before.
I'm out of Diet Coke!! Now that my tea is finished, Time to make a quick run to the store. Tomorrow I'll go to Costco and stock up : )
My weight is down a little bit more today. I like this trend.

Justice did great yesterday. I dropped him off at 8:15 and was able to pick him up at 10:45. Other than a little sleepiness, he acted like his normal self even taking our usual length evening walk after dinner. We didn't let him use the stairs though. Everyone in the vet's office just loved him because Mr Sweetness was giving everyone kisses. My former chihuahua was a terror at the vet but Justice is very compliant and sweet.
Today there is nothing specific on the agenda other than the bathtub reglazing this afternoon. I wonder how stinky that will be? We may also hit some golfballs at the practice course. But first a Justice walk!
Have a thriving Thursday!

Good news that the trophies arrived so you don't have to worry about having them sent on.
Yeah, who knows what happened last year - the prior times Justice had his teeth done he was fine. That was the only aberration.

Indian summer is lovely in the fall. If it was like that every day up north I would stay longer but the cold, raw days drive me south.

Greetings all
It was almost chilly this morning but the sun is out in full now. Today started early by my standards with a studio zoom board meeting which I attended in my bathrobe. All good and we even have money! I suggested we order glaze ingredients to stock up if we can find them. Dang tariffs. After the meeting I did my gym walking. Apple music seems to have rearranged their search feature which left me hopelessly pushing screen buttons searching for what used to come up easily. Hate that.
Then it was studio time. I was not feeling too inspired but made a few things.
DD you are doing great to not gain weight on your travels. Ratatouille sounds yummy. No substitute for fresh eggplant. How awful would a canned or frozen one be!! I love the stuff but DH hates it. Eggplant was a forced vegetable when he was a kid. I never heard of it until adulthood since most vegetables came in frozen rectangles.
I think it is easy to get into the snack habit after VSG since our small tummies empty out faster. A big full meal can be daunting (especially if you have to cook it) and the grab and go nutrition plan is so easy. Anyway lucky DD to have bouquets of zinnias!
Liz glad DH is home safe. Deplaning in a storm must be no fun. Wishing Justice the best for a good dental treatment. Glad there are new fun people for bocce ball. Like DD, I might be able to toss a ball but I am incapable of hitting them with any sort of bat or paddle or other implement.
Peps I assume you are off to Montgomery County! Enjoy and win big. Glad the trophies arrived. Quite the road trip. If you drive through Nebraska, stop somewhere and eat a Runza.
House news Paula?
Yoo hoo to all you others who know who you are.
Pot pie tonight then back to the what's for dinner conundrum. Might go to an art and music festival at the winery Saturday. Should be nice.

Annoying! Especially if they arrive tomorrow after you leave.
Monkey wrenches thrown my way... I'm supposed to transport trophies to to Pennsylvania. They were supposed to arrive today. No such luck. They have have to be in Pennsylvania by October 4th. Ron may have to ship them from here to the hotel where I am staying in PA. Dang!!! Always a complication of one sort or another.
Weight still at 206... booooooooooooo
Hope Justice does better this time around. Coming out of anesthesia is not always so easy for older dogs. I wonder if he was having a reaction to the anesthesia as well as having a lot of pain. Sure sounds like it to me.
Packing and trimming on the docket for today.
Hopefully, hitting the road bright and early tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Good morning! Welcome home to your DH! I hope Justice's appointment goes much better than last year. Bocce ball sounds like a fun way to socialize. We'd love to be the new couple joining you. :) DH has expressed some interest in PickleBall. He played a lot of tennis when he was younger, so he'd probably do great. I still contend I am not made for chasing balls type games, but tossing a ball I might be able to do.
The foggy and clouds burned off yesterday and it was a beautiful fall day. More days in store according to the extended forecast, even some days in the low 80s. Wonderful.
I noticed the neighborhood was quieter yesterday. Today I saw the kiddos heading for the bus stop while I was in the kitchen making my tea. They'll be back around 3:30pm with all the energy and action. It wasn't that long ago that I was the Mom walking my little ones to the bus stop.
While I was away my Zinnias exploded! I made 2 bouquets yesterday evening after I finished unpacking. Yeah, I did get that done, but still need to wash dresses and sweaters, which I think takes a little more care. No freezes predicted yet, so I don't know if the buds that have been set will actually bloom. At this time of year, it's more a question of light.
Yesterday and today I am alone upon waking. Yesterday I thought about how I hadn't been alone for a month. I love my family, but I don't mind some down time. DH gets home around noon. One plan for today is a visit to the farmer's market in our little downtown. I want to make ratatouille, but our market is small and I don't know if anyone will have eggplant. We'll see. Tomorrow we will go visit my parents.
Yes, I am down about 2 pounds since before I left on my trip, confirmed by a real weigh in this morning. I told DH I would commit to having some kind of dinner for us around 5:30pm each night. I think we've been snacking too much. If I know I will be eating in 2 hours and I'm hungry, I am more likely to choose a small snack like a handful of grapes or a cheese stick to tide me over. I also think psychologically it feels better to have a meal, even if it is a small meal. Maintaining (or losing) for me is never mastered, but always something I'm tweaking. The good fight goes on!

DH is home! So great to have him here though he did get up terribly early this morning (5:30). His flight arrived 15 minutes early yesterday but a thunderstorm was starting so they only let about 1/3 of the people off before they stopped the deplaning due to the lightening risk. DH was one of the last ones off. That is a problem with this small airport where one has to walk down stairs from the plane then outside to the terminal. Anyway, good thing he didn't have to wait because we had our bocce team arriving for a pre-game get together 2 hours after that. But the storm was so intense we weren't sure people would be able to make it - there were numerous power outages and lightning strikes in the area. Luckily it calmed down by the time they were coming and all went well. We have a new couple joining our team who are also new to the community. Really nice people! Another couple who were new last year also made it and we got to know them better which was great.
This morning Justice is going for a teeth cleaning. Feeling very nervous about that because last year when he had it done was so traumatic. Maybe because he had more major teeth removed but I couldn't help but think that maybe they didn't give him enough injectable painkiller. Within an hour or so of being home he was whimpering and would not open his mouth at all to drink water and certainly not to take a pain pill. I spoke to the new vet about the experience and I think he will be well taken care of. They don't seem to handle as many animals in this practice so I feel like they will be more attentive.
Hoping Paula didn't report in yesterday because they were working on a house offer.
No plans for dinner after our first bocce game - I need to think about something.
But right now it is time to get a Justice walk before he goes to the vet. Have a winning Wednesday!
