142.0

I've joined the N&S club, too. My hearing is dependent on location and proximity of sound, like a cardioid mic. There can be noise all around me, and a pin drops in front of me, I'll hear it. But then, if the room is dead quiet and someone is softly humming between me and Pavarotti belting out Ava Maria, I pick up the humming. Quite annoying.

Ohhhhh, a dress fitting! I am vicariously enjoying each and every step of this mom/daughter affair-keep posting.

Movers coming by today to take inventory and give quotes.

From the sound of things, (Kurt in the background commenting on all the Olympic events that are streaming today) looks like his agenda is set. Good idea and I will take a big break and enjoy a bit of baking and making in the kitchen while I have kitchen.

One of my next door neighbors (we have three, these people border my little house) have friends that came to stay with them. 5 sets who all brought their RVs with 3 of them parked with their side windows facing my kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Nice! And they were noisy well past 11. But then a skunk sprayed very close by, so I had to close all the windows. Yuck. Then I couldn't hear them anymore and wondered with a smirk and my virtual devil horns on if any of them were sprayed directly. I think there would have been more horrified yelling rather than the whooping and hollering...

One of the other next door neighbors who likes to bake brought cinnamon rolls to pop in the oven. Claudia just texted to tell me they are ready in 5 minutes. I reluctantly passed. One of those things where the first bite is good then all subsequent ones are a march toward feeling yucky and a long sugar-induced nap. Plus I'm still up in my weight.

It's a pretty day here. Not sure what is on tap except drinks at a friend's and dinner out.

I tried to watch the Olympics opening ceremonies, but it was so very weird. Then they got to the threesome scene and I was done. All I wanted was to watch the athletes arrive (cool on the boats) and see Celine Dion and the torch lighting. Too much to ask, I suppose.

I think that's all for me. Enjoy your days!

Thanks, Liz, especially as you know the what's about it all. I've been tagging along behind you like an intern mimicking the homeowner-pro, who, smoothly demonstrated how to "get-er-done".

I am going to be brave and type this directly in OH since it seems to be behaving lately. Usually I type it in notes, then copy/paste here.

We made it to Saratoga Springs to meet with DH's family members last night after an extra long drive due to traffic. Accidents on highways sure clog everything up. We had drinks at a bar next to the horse track, then ate at a popular restaurant in town. Very fun, but I realize how poor my hearing is in noisy crowds at places like that. I can hear fine when speaking with people without loud background noise and I can hear the TV without turning it up, but crowd noise has me smiling and nodding a lot. Reminds me of my grandmother and mother who had hearing loss in their later years. At some point I will need to have it tested but I don't think it is necessary yet especially since even the modern devices don't help a lot with background noise.

We need to leave in about 45 minutes to drive to DD's wedding dress fitting. It is on our way home, so this trip worked out conveniently for both. We will spend the early afternoon with DD and her fiancé, then go back to Cape Cod. Hopefully we will be able to miss the bridge backup. It was 3 miles when we were leaving the Cape yesterday just after noon time.

Have a scintillating Saturday!

A teller who can't count: what is this world coming to? I've gotten used to that with store cashiers but at a bank?

Stay on that tightrope- every time you mention this I think that I should be doing the same. I can barely stand on one leg to get my pants on.

Congratulations on a great offer and quick sale! I'm sure it is hard to leave the house, but now that the work is done it is wonderful that it went quickly.

I don't think ever in my life have I left a position or made any move with out knowing that there was something securely in place ahead. No thrill seeking, bungyjumping risk taker here. Buying a house before having sold this one first made me really anxious.

Do you have a location in mind for Florida? My family (Dads side) have been in the panhandle piney woodsjust north of Panama City since the 1840's- true Florida crackers. Truly beautiful there.
