Good idea, CC. I'll try that.

Do you have a lot of land at your new place? Somehow in my head I was thinking not, but maybe that is just because I know how extensive your property was previously and anything would be smaller.

Such a long drive but nice that you spent the day with family. Lemonade pie? Never heard of it.

Such a terrible response by the chef, Liz! Diane, I bet the pots will be easier this year with your concerted walking efforts! The sweet peas are calling... DianeO, I haven't played mahjong except online by myself, probably would be a lot of fun in a group. Ann, good luck finding a spreader. Hope you give NextDoor or your neighbors a try. Peps, woohoo for shorts and muscles! Paula, lemonade pie sounds good and I love black jelly beans. My grandma without fail had a crystal candy dish in her living room with black jelly beans and those sugared jelly orange slices. Yummy. And surprisingly good together as a kid stuffing one's mouth before Nonnie came back in the room. Not that my black teeth and tongue didn't give it away! DD, you are kind to give your Easter to your parents rather than doing what you wanted. If karma is real (and I like to think it is even if it's just paying peace into your soul), you are racking up the points!
Quiet day here. Beautiful and 69. Kirby and I sat outside a few times while he worked on his smoked Easter bone. His lion's mane chest fur gets so wet when he chews on things laying down! I am tempted to put it in pigtails out of the way. I meant to plant the last of my plants in the pots, but petered out oomph-wise. I did walk Kirby being careful to avoid walking in front of my neighbor's house. I can't call her a friend anymore. I did return a hammer she left here under cover of darkness last night leaving it on the wall by her driveway. I don't want to be the "vindictive" "bad friend" who also "steals tools"! After venting to my board friend, he said that we should get free counseling when we join the board given all the drama and upset. He's not wrong. Maybe we could get it paid for by the directors and officers insurance.
Can't say I've been eating well with all the upset either. I go very carb intensive when I feel like this. Blech. Makes me sleepy. And chubby despite the shots.
To add to the list of my homeowner to dos, one of the motorized blinds in the high window in the living room is acting up just as the sun has reached that side of the house in the late afternoon. I'm not sure who can fix that out here, but I'm cooking like an ant under a magnifying glass! It's always something.
Anyway, Hope everyone is good! Take care!
What a strange response from the owner! I would think the first thing you'd want to know was did anyone get hurt, not yelling at people!
We are back home after bringing dinner to my parents. DH is so good with them. When they start going down the roads that lead to crying, or fighting, and litigating old hurts, he deftly redirects them in a way that makes them feel heard. It's pretty masterful. I can de-escalate situations at work, but some of my parent's stuff is too close to the bone, and the most I can manage when it starts going off the rails is to get up and leave the room to go make tea, or start the dishes etc. Depriving them of their audience does help, but DH's method is more compassionate.
Having a 3 day weekend was great, but now it's time to get another week started.
Nice disco club for the pups! I might dance too in such a fancy venue.
I love black jelly beans. No one else in my family does, so they pick them out, and give them to me. We drove home in the rain too, but I think our trip was shorter than yours. My parents are about 1.5 hours away.
I think I might align with Ron about Easter and Church. There are some hymns I just love that are only sung on Easter. When I don't go, like this year, I miss that. I miss the happy energy of Easter Mass, and the kids in their cute dress up clothes, and the beaming grandparents showing off their visiting grandkids. I am comfortable with whatever religion people choose for themselves, or none at all, no judgement from me. Mass does bring me moments of peace, and like working out, I'm usually never sorry I made time for it afterwards. Although there were some times when the kids were little that we would be so aggravated by trying to wrangle them that DH said we have more to pray about than when we went in :)
When I think about retirement, I feel positively giddy! Like I'm floating. Like I'm falling in love. My tentative plans for ordinary days at home: get up at 8, slow start with a latte, probably tucked back in bed watching local news for a bit, followed by reading the paper and breakfast, then, by 10am, workout, then home, showered and ready for what else is happening.
