Peps, ich würde so gerne mit dir nach Deutschland reisen. Du bist gerade an einem wunderschönen Teil des Flusses.
Enough of that! You've probably already visited or cruised past Mainz, where I spent a wonderful 1966-67 when all that part of the world was still West Germany and I was a wide-eyed naïf. Anyway, keep posting those gorgeous pix. We're enjoying them so much.
I posted yesterday, but the site ate my post. I didn't have much to say, so not much was lost. Today the plan is to drive 300 miles south to Huntsville, Alabama, to look at a car we are interested in buying. As I mentioned earlier, we're ready to sell two of our cars and replace them with a comfy, cushy sedan we can enjoy during the long road trips we both enjoy. Planes are great for getting across oceans and big swaths of North America, but we're ready for seats that massage you and safety features for old folks who cat around like they're still on spring break.
And speaking of weight maintenance and comfy ranges, I'm almost at the point where I almost don't worry about my weight anymore and simply trust any upticks are due to holiday eating or bathroom inactivity or (lately) gaining a little more muscle (physical therapy is really kicking my butt!). I do still weigh every morning and record my weight on My Fitness Pal--don't think I'll ever stop doing that.
Time to coffee up. The bus leaves early this morning. Wishes to all for a satisfying Saturday.

Couldn't resist doing the date in German! Anne will appreciate. It would be nice to be traveling with her since she is 100% fluent in German, unlike I. My German is conversational, at best. I spoke German to a young woman at a concession kiosk and she started speaking Kobelenz Platt... Needless to say, I had a hard time following her. I will take that as a warning to speak German only when needed. But part of me wants to use my German. It's been such a long time since I've been able to use it.
We docked in Koblenz early this morning. We docked on the Rhine just a few meters from the convergence of the Rhine and the Mosel. The view from our stateroom is the very impressive monument to Wilhelm I. Ron and I did a walking tour of the old part of town. My brother took a sky tram/cable car to the fortress and will meet us later in the day. The rest of the day is a cruising day. I am hoping to spend a lot of time on the sun deck taking in the views.
Shot kicked in this morning. I had some thinly sliced meat - probably 3 oz and and piece of brown bread toasted. When my eggs came, I could not eat them both. On our way back to the boat, Ron was hankering for some gelato. We stopped for some at previously mentioned kiosk. Worth every single calorie!
Not much else I can think of... Let me know if I'm over posting the pics on TT.
I do miss my dogs, a bit.
It did to me as well. I do like all the different components though and have been seeing it posted a lot. Since we have leftover taco meat from taco salad last night, I'm going to give it a try!
Well my work email address no longer exists, and my Google docs connected to that account are now just mist in the online world. So very official.
Rainy, cold temperatures in the high 50s. Knowing I can drive to the major airport 20 minutes from my house and fly somewhere warm on a bargain airline anytime I want takes some of the sting away.
The staff meeting was fun. Each department head says a few words about the retiree. It was very sweet. A few tears, some hugs, and then I was on my way.
I was home by 10:15am. I hope I didn't alarm DH by sitting on the family room sofa, eating chips and dip, swilling diet coke, and watching The Jason Show, a local talk show. My son said it was a Victory Meal. :)
I had some time before my appointment, so I went shopping. To further celebrate my retirement I bought 2 nice swimsuits. Most of my suits are $30-40 from JC Pennys. I decided as much as I like to be in the water, I should have some better constructed suits. They were definitely more than $40, but a good investment in my future plans. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Most of my WLS visit was strategizing what I will do when I inevitably loss my coverage to Wegovy. I'm going to bump up to the highest dose, so I can continue to stretch out the time between doses, and keep stockpiling. She said some of her patients move to metformin as a maintenance medication, but of course it's not as effective as Wegovy and Zepbound. Zepbound is now approved as a treatment for moderate to severe sleep apnea, so if people have that diagnosis, they are going that route. My doctor expects an oral GLp medication to be available in the next year. If people have to pay out of pocket, it should be much cheaper than the injectables, and therefore more affordable. It's a brave new world. Competition amount pharmaceutical companies can only help us.
Going out to dinner this evening, where I will eat some good protein to off set the complete lack of nutrition in my chip/dip splurge.
Huge fan of ratatatouille also, but my DH joins the others and doesn't share my enthusiasm, although he does enjoy vegetables.
I agree with the veggie trays, that has helped veggie consumption.
There are those places that feel like they are knitted into our DNA. I've never been to Finland, (6 of my great grandparents were born there), yet I feel great pride in their accomplishments and concerns about Russian threats. I'm glad you are enjoying your heart's homeland so much.
Never heard of that meal. Sounds a little odd? I looked it up - still sounds like a weird combination to me

Same issues with ratatouille in my house - I love it but DH is very unsure.

124.8. Feeling hungry today! Trying to keep calories at bay. Will for sure increase to 2.5 mg on Sunday.
Happy Retirement DD! A whole new life begins!
Cold yucky weather. Worked out on the treadmill, made a Costco run and will also go to the local grocery soon. Also picked up replacement hot tub cover!
Tonight we are having the viral meal of taco meat, roasted sweet potato, cottage cheese and sliced avocado all drizzled in hot honey! I'll let you know the verdict!
Enjoy your last few days on Aruba Liz!
