Greetings all

It's foggy in our town but clear a few miles away. Northern CA typical. I started my day with my usual coffee and net surfing. DH went to our friends early to help with computer issues.

Dinner last night at the chinese buffet was fun. My friend who was sick for so long was there and could not eat much. Its concerning. After dinner I went to the Dollar store for tissue paper. The Dollar store after dark is an unsavory experience. Numerous weird-os. Made me skip a few aisles. Just as well since it's now the $1.25 store. They actually had wine for that price.!!??

On the way to the studio I stopped at the gym and did my meager walking on the treadmill. It really is a good time to go there. Practically empty. And I met another old lady using the elevator to go to the upper floor; thereby validating my own elevator usage. Next mission was the studio. I did some glazing. There will be enough stuff to fire kiln #1 which means I will have quite a bit of stuff Monday.

After that it was mission groceries. The main goal was to get ground turkey for the dogs. They won't eat kibble unless it has a spoonful of ground meat on it. DH was very concerned that they are not eating but he forgets about the zillion treats he gives them all day. Anyway all is good for a few days and there are chili makings for football weekend.

CC glad you made it home easily. It does sound like total chaos between the gates, emergency vehicles, balloons and scorpions. Yikes. Hoping the deck continues to go well.

LOL DD shorter than drivers license! Me too! And my hair is a different color. No clue about weight. Not going to look.

So Liz good on you for finishing photo stuff. Wedding countdown T minus 9 days! Enjoy it all.

Ann are you still mopping?

I am still enjoying sweet peas and am grateful that some of them were slow growing.

Bonnie I hear you on the moving deadline. Move it or else. We had a garage sale about two months after we moved cross country. Too much stuff.

Liz, I think these 9 days are just going to fly by. Lovely to hear your daughter is happy with her dress. And she is lucky to have your support and organizational skills.

DH is off with his best friend, drinking bourbon, eating meat and watching horror films. I treated myself to dinner from the deli at the fancy grocery store in the next town over. There was roasted butternut squash on the hot food deli bar. So good! Not a food DH enjoys, so I don't make it very often.

Perhaps a significant storm coming our way. No rain, but lots of ominous rumbling, in between peeks of sun. I feel like the in and out sun, mixed with thunder is a little spooky. A big shift in the weather is on it's way.

6 feet. So I'm 2 pounds to the very top of a normal BMI

Welcome home! Too bad about the gate business, which sounds like a big inconvenience in addition to being pricey to fix.

Ditto Miss150's praise re ditching the scenic views photos. Good principle.

What better milestone! How often do we actually weigh less than the stated weight. I think I'm now shorter than it says on my driver's license, so I've had weight loss and height loss!

You describe my favorite kind of morning, watching the birds cavort, savoring the morning breeze before the heat comes, DH close by.

Just noticed, I'm 4.2 pounds less than my driver's license! And I was lying when I gave that one!

Bonnie, my painting isn't hung yet. My decorator asked me to collect paintings with black frames for a collage wall in the family room. I'm up to 4, need more...

Congrats on finishing the photo sorting! I realized long ago I'm great at starting projects, but not at finishing them. So go you!

185.8 this morning. I haven't seen that number in a long time.

The flight was wonderful and uneventful. Such a luxury. Home safe and sound. Before I could do anything else, I vacuumed the whole house. Dust, dog hair, and dead scorpions. The dreaded 3 Ds. Thankfully they were all dead, but I really didn't need to see 7 of them. So defeating. Then on NextDoor this morning a neighbor posted asking for a scorpion sting remedy since she was stung on her lower back this morning sitting down on her couch with a cup of coffee!! Whole new vistas of things to worry about.

After the vacuuming yesterday, I went to leave and the exit gate to our neighborhood wouldn't open. It's our only way out. Lots of back and forth with the board president and the repair guy and neighbors who had workmen that couldn't get out. He came and fixed it, then it broke again this morning! More back and forth. Before the guy could get here to fix it (which took 2 hours, another big problem), a dump truck tried to get out the entrance and ripped the steel gates off the wall and broke both gear boxes. The gates are irreparably mangled and we'll need to have new ones fabricated. The dump truck company said they will pay for it. It's going to be pricey. Next up is meeting with the sheriff's department this afternoon to file a report in case the company balks once the estimates come back. And while that's happening a bunch of fire rescue trucks came through to rescue a hiker as our neighborhood back fence was closer to the victim. Pandemonium! My neighbor who I really like jokingly said, "you know everything was just fine until you came home..." Ha!

The repairs are happening to my deck and it looks incredibly torn up, but like he is doing a super job. The wallpaper in my power room looks great.

Just walked the dog - it's a gorgeous day. It's interesting how different the light is here vs Michigan this time of year. In MI, it's a gold glow as the sun is getting low in the sky. Here it's still high up and incredibly bright. Lots of balloons this morning over the house. Kirby had forgotten about them and barked up a storm upon hearing/seeing them. So vicious...

I think that's it. Need to go rustle up some lunch. Take care all!
