A thrifty Thursday will be had if, and only if I can stay off the internet every time I stumble across some po-dinkled thing needed for this or that project to be completed properly.
Liz, you are very close to saying goodbye to your lovely friend of a house. I'm thinking it's pretty cool that while the house will reincarnate with new owners, your history and presents remain..good juju all around.
It's too bad about the nice wood ... I remember my mom picking up " old, used furniture" in resale shops in the 60s-70s for pennies on the dollar and then replacing them with cheap, laminate veneer just because they were "new". That old stuff morphed into valuable antique pieces later.....go figure. Tastes change- real wood is irreplaceable and your pineapple bedsteads will live on some day.
Toothbrush and razor blade scraper in hand, I'm off to detail neglected kitchen and bathroom corners- not that I'm such a clean freak; just like to know that what I'm looking at in the future is my own neglected dirt.
Have a great day and good luck, Cicley, finding that nettle in Kirby's haystack of paw-fur.
160.1, up down up down up up down!
Eli Lily officially took their GLP 1s off the shortage list now. I don't think our Tirzepatide will be available much longer. Wish I had started sooner and was closer to goal. My PCP is still trying to get me approved for Zepbound but we need to jump through hoops to possibly get it approved and for me that will only be until June when we lose DH's insurance.
Bible study went well this morning. Need to file my sales and use tax for my business, get ready for a small craft fair I will be doing next weekend and do other business bookkeeping! Should keep me busy for the next few days.
"Dude, do it now!"
Sheesh.

183.2 today. More HOA stuff today - negotiating the maintenance contract with the landscaper at 9. I feel totally unqualified to do this! I've never negotiated anything really. I usually just pay if it needs to be done. But we asked him to increase his service and boy did he increase the proposal, by 60%. We can't afford that without raising dues and I don't want us to do that. Ugh. I think people see the nice neighborhood and think there are endless coffers, but we don't have that many houses and changing anything often means increasing homeowner's association fees. And to do that, it better be a good reason and landscaping isn't it in my opinion.
I walked Kirby last night and as you know everything in AZ wants to kill you. No soft grass here. If he ventures onto the verge of the road, it's filled with burrs, goathead thorns, foxtails, all manner of sharp things, etc. He's walking like he has stickers or thorns in a few of his paws, but I can't feel anything. I need to keep trying, but he doesn't make it easy. I did buy him boots, but he won't let me put them on let alone wear them.
Anyway, I'm going to go get in the shower and then work on Kirby's paws again.
Take care all!
Weight 119.4 (unchanged). Today would have been my DD Elise's 52nd birthday. She was very much missed over wedding weekend.
Yesterday we accomplished what we set out to in DH's home. I am essentially unpacked here - it wasn't a lot other than my hanging clothes and they were easy because they were in wardrobe boxes. DH still needs to integrate in some stuff in the kitchen but he has to clear out old junk first. Essentially every cabinet and drawer is half full of miscellaneous unused stuff. The only exceptions were the food cabinet, spice cabinet, and the storage container cabinet. Those were the ones I took care of yesterday. I know I sound like I am complaining but even DH realizes that they have been accumulating stuff since he had the kitchen redone almost 20 years ago.
I was up at 4:45 and am leaving for the old house at 5:45. Lots to do in getting donations out, packing what remains of mine, and arranging for pickup of what I can't donate. It is really hard to get rid of stuff these days. No one wants classic mahogany twin pineapple beds or the like. It will be a long day as we are meeting friends for dinner there and have to drive the hour back here afterwards.
Have a thrifty Thursday!

I do remember deceased DH having to deal with the babysitting/handholding for his clients too. Especially on Real Estate transactions (which he did a lot of). I try not to be a pain.

I rolled my eyes at a fellow board member's email so hard today they almost got stuck. He's one of the do-nothing guys. An exec at some healthcare company, on the board for over a year, in his early 60s. I sent him a complaint I got about conduit at the front gate put in when we got new cameras not being painted (the complaining neighbor has residual anger for the hoops the architectural committee has put him through and wondered rightly how something that never would have been allowed on his house is allowed at the gate).
Instead of saying he was on it, it was "should I ask at the meeting Friday? Should I do it now or wait? Any thoughts?" Jiminy Christmas.
