Greetings all
Great sunny day. not a cloud anywhere. I survived the dentist. I am always scared of new ones but I have decided this one is quite nice and good. She is Korean and has little tiny hands which makes her much more dexterous. At one point she said something and her assistant said OH no and I got frightened but Dr said she had just had a hot flash. Anyway the crown prep did not take all that long and I am pleased. I did take a Klonipin before I went in.... After that I stopped at the store for wine and soft food like soup and tortellini. Felling smug and prepared.
DD I had a twinge of alarm when you said you were going to your parents on the first day of retirement. Red Flags! Don't want you to get sucked in to having to go there all the time and get nothing done but listening to complaints. Glad you figured out an alternative. First days of retirement should be spent on entirely frivolous activities like staying in jammies and grocery shopping at 10 am on a tuesday. If it were me I would do something devious like put my arm in a sling and claim I can't help. but you are a better person. Just keep in mind the B word. Boundaries.
No-see-ums. Are they the same as mosquitoes? I hate all biting insects which is why I live here because there are not any in the coastal zone. Too cool for them. My friend inland actually encourages them by keeping standing water so that the bats can eat them. No thanks. Our bats will have to find alternative foods.
Good luck on water heater Liz. And good idea. I know more than one person who has left home and come back to a water disaster. One was the ice maker in fridge that flooded the house. Maybe turn water off? My brother used to do that every time he left his weekend house.
So Paula you making more stuff for the art fair! Enjoy. I used to wear a carpenter's apron where I kept all the cash so it was on my person at all times. Summer fairs are starting here soon including Open Studios where you can visit the artist work space. All fun and at the end of the fair you can trade stuff with other artists.
Wow Ann you guys must feel like college students with one bed and 4 chairs. Can't wait to see the finished stuff. So worth it.
So I got the sweet peas and other stuff planted. The sweet peas are preposterously puny pipsqueak plants. Only about 2" tall. Maybe i should have planted seeds. Using plenty of Sluggo to keep the snails from gobbling the petunias.
CCSorry you had an insect attack. Good idea to fill holes. Yeah it does seem that Arizona flora and fauna are out to get you. You need a poolside day. And good plan to get Kirdy snipped along with the toe issue. Its time. My niece the veterinarian had her puppy X-rays to make sure that joint plates were mature before she was spayed. I think that was a little over a year but this is a smaller breed. This is the puppy she got from me Scatty nee Beyonce.
Peps the retirement stuff will be fun. People will say nice stuff to you. Bet you can taste your freedom. Sorry your Dad was wandering. Agree on the bracelet and maybe a different arrangement. The smaller home like care arrangements seem good - I had several clients with experiences with those.
Not much else. I am almost euphoric that the dental experience is over and it was not awful. Life is good.

Perfect plan! That way you can truly enjoy those first days of retirement.
The pasta salad does sound delicious.

I came up with a genius idea to preserve my 1st week of retirement : we have 3 weeks left of classes so I am going to use a sick day June 6 (a Friday) and go to my parents house Friday and Saturday. We will probably still go for Fathers Day on the 15th, but that is different than "helping". This just feels so much better to me.
My district retirement event is next Thursday. DH and a few work friends who are also being recognized for 15 or 20 years in the district will join me. Then the following week, the retirement happy hour with mostly my department and a few other work friends.
The weather is slowly improving, some sun today and 66. I'm not working tomorrow!! My plan tomorrow morning is to get going early and get some bedding plants. A coolish weekend is probably best for planting.
Off to the fancy grocery store that has a sale on some delicious deli items like chicken cherry pasta salad. It's delectable.
Wow, wow, wow! Retirement is arriving!

I don't think we have No-See-Ums here. I looked it up and we are in the variable range. I'm pretty sure I have not ever been bitten. The bite sound annoying as all get out!
District Retirement Tea is this afternoon. I don't really want to go, but I'm obligated (especially since the district changed the date so I could attend because the elementary concert schedule conflicted with the original date). I think BFF and Ron will attend.
I did decide to stay home this weekend. I felt a whoosh of relief when I cancelled my hotel for the weekend.
1 more teaching day. YIKES!
I talk to Poppy as Poopy Poppy Puppy. She thinks her name is poopy. ds
Those no see ums are nasty! We used to get them in the other house here in Florida but they must not be able to fly up higher because we don't get them on the 3rd floor here.

So the no see ums have made their debut (they say around mother's day here). I am covered in bites I never saw happening! 3 on the top of my head, 2 on my neck, 5 on my calf and ankle. Little *******s! it must have happened in my sleep as the leg with the bites is the one I stick out of my sheets when I'm hot. Grr.
Today I'm having lunch with a friend. The bug guy has been and gone. I have some phone calls to make (schedule the hvac visit to get ready for summer) and when I get home I have a project on dd, to seal all the weird little gaps around pipes and the hvac in my utility room because I think that's where the majority of the bugs are getting in. I have steel wool and caulking and I had the bug guy spray in all the nooks and crannies.
That's my list for the day. Hope you all are well! Hooray for the retirement countdowns!
LOL - so now you will be able to sit!

Whoops ... I meant that we'll be moving all our furniture in. Now we have only a queen bed, a desk and 5 chairs.
