Oh yeah - the dreaded menopause that the rest of us are either close to or past does make a BIG difference in metabolism.
You can get nasal steroid sprays over the counter which I use when I have a sinus infection. Like Flonase or comparable.

I actually don't need to be really low thankfully! I haven't counted my calories in a long time, but when I am carefully measuring, I lose well at around 1700 calories. I think it's just amazing how quickly I get to 1700 or above without thinking about it especially here with cheese and crackers before dinner, nuts everywhere, ****tails at friend's homes, parties, food gifts from neighbors, eating out, ice cream, desserts... If it were occasional, that would be easier, but there seems to be at least one of the above every single day. Add in my propensity to snack when I'm alone and my weight here has stayed fairly stable (I just looked and I've lost 5.2 pounds since I left AZ on June 27, which is pretty great considering historically I gain 10 pounds over the summer here). I'm sure this will change when I get past menopause especially if I don't step up weightlifting exercises!
My dad came home from the hospital yesterday morning after a night there. He seems better than after most of his previous clogs. Thank you for your well wishes!
My I-think-it's-a-sinus-infection carries on. I can breathe freely through my nose, but my sinuses are clogged, I feel off balance, and I wake up with a sinus headache each day. Last night I had a fever and my neck lymph nodes feel like peas. Blech. But I don't feel sick enough to "take to my bed", so I wonder how long I let my body try to deal with it versus going to urgent care? These aren't things I'm prone to, so I have no reference. Is it like a cold where antibiotics aren't helpful?
The invisible fence guys came yesterday and flagged the entire fence line for Kirby and then did some training for him. He caught on quickly what the "bad flags" were. The fence wasn't actually broken! The wires at the control box had come loose. But the rest of what they did was totally worth the service call.
Today our friends who have a golden are bringing her (Addie) over to meet Kirby and see if she can get him to swim. She's 10 and has always been very calm, so I think Kirby will look like a crazy Benny Hill skit by comparison. I hope they get along and Kirby can play with her nicely. He hasn't had a ton of interactions with other dogs, which is my fault for not seeking it out...
Such sad news we got. Claudia's best friend from here since childhood has a lovely son and daughter in law we've spend time with when they come up here. They were expecting their first baby next month, but he suddenly died in utero and she had a 20 hour labor yesterday to deliver him. Her son said he looked perfect when he was born. They've requested an autopsy to see what happened. We're all heartbroken for them. Life can be so cruel.
Ugh, just had to pry 20 puzzle pieces out of Kirby's mouth. Bad dog!
I think that's all I know. I need to tidy up in here - there are toy innards everywhere from a disemboweled stuffed chipmunk and just lots of stuff that needs to be put away. I think having that done will make me feel a bit better! Funny how a mess can make you feel even worse when you're sick.
Take care all. I hope Lizanne's husband is improving.
Weight the same.
Sitting in the Minneapolis airport ready to hop on second flight to Bismarck. Cloudy here. So far travel has been good. I?m masking as several friends that have traveled lately returned with Covid. I?m the only one! I forgot how hot and stuffy these things are! Hopefully the maskne will stay away.
No plans that I know of for tonight. DSD and her fiancé work today so I?ll just be hanging out in their apartment. Tomorrow we drive to Fargo for the dress shopping experience.
Try and have a good time at the Bachelorette party Liz, I get it though, they are designed for the younger crowd that doesn?t go to bed by 9:00 pm (that is me for sure)!
Weight 121 (official weekly weight). Still stable. Both DD and Paula were talking about how low they had to go in calories to lose weight. I think DianeS has expressed the same which I also deal with. I believe we are all fairly short so that is probably why we have to go so low. I would bet that even CC who is a terrific height (I always wished I was tall), has to be at quite a deficit compared to what her body normally needs to lose. It doesn't sound as bad but is probably still at a point too low for her body in the long-term. I am sure I lost muscle in this most recent loss cycle so I am looking forward to regaining it when I get back to Florida in the fall. I am looking forward to rejoining water aerobics and exercise classes. My arms have improved due to the shoulder exercises but the rest of me needs work.
It is almost 5 am here. DS who came home for a few days left here at 4:05 for the 3.25 hour ride to Portland. I am leaving here around 5:45. I have a check-on bag and a carry-on, plus a box for my DD to check. Both checked luggage pieces are filled with stuff I want transferred from this house to the Florida house.
I am very excited to see my finished living room. It was mostly done when we went there at the end of July but the painting and trim change are complete now. I am not looking forward to the bachelorette festivities as I am just too old for this stuff, though seeing DD's enjoyment will be wonderful. Speaking of which, SIL and I did this as a model for the centerpieces. The greenery is just a stand- in for the real seeded eucalyptus we will use and will also be in DD's bouquet. The bridesmaids will have hydrangeas in theirs.
Have a fine Friday!

Lots of old bags were tossed during the pre-sale purge here!

Greetings all
It's actually raining here a bit. Good for the lawn but it can stop any time.
Yep DD it must be fun to be from Minnesota now. And Nebraska like me. Gotta love that Gus. So adorable.
Spent some time in the studio making a few more things. Gotta get ahead on stuff because I will be out of commission for a bit come October.
Pink! glad it was fun Liz. These days a big concert is not appealing but I went to the Rolling Stones in my younger days and other stuff. My favorite concert of all time was the Temptations and the 4 Tops on the same stage! Awesome.
CC sorry your dad is back in the hospital. And sympathies to Claudia who is really going through the mill. No rest and no place comfortable even to sit. I doubt the smash burgers were the issue but who knows. Hoping you all get some rest and that your dad is home soon.
Thinking of you Lizanne. Hope your husband is mending
Came home awhile ago and no DH but dogs here. Turns out he is napping in bed and did not feel well. It's unusual for him to go to bed in the middle of the day. He is more of a Lazy boy napper.
Enjoy your trip Paula and keep us posted on the dress. Your comments remind me of how many old suitcases and bags we have and need to toss.
Burgers tonight. Over and out.

169.8, finally broke the plateau. About a week ago I was 170.8 and was sure I would hit 170 ish the next day (even had great elimination). Instead the weight went up to 171 something and just stayed there! Then today I got into a new decade as Peps would say! Hallelujah!
Fished out an old carry on bag for tomorrow's flight and it looked big to me so I checked the allowed dimensions and it was quite a bit over! Regulations must have changed since we last used it. I normally carry my camera gear as my carry on so have not actually had a packed bag that wasn't checked for a long time. So after Bible study this morning, DH and I made a Target run to buy a new carry on bag, travel sized toiletries and then when shoe shopping because one of course needs new shoes when traveling. Since we were out and about we decided to have sushi for lunch and we will just wing it for dinner!
I'll be up at 4 like Liz as my flight leaves at 6:30. Thankfully the local airport is small and we don't have to be there 2 hours before the flight leaves like bigger airports. I'll wave to you Diane when I have my brief layover in Minneapolis!
Glad the Pink concert was good Liz! We were going to an annual Christian music festival every summer but skipped it this year. A few summers back I went to see Foreigner again (a fav from my youth). I went to all the rock concerts in High School but since then have only gone to a handful of country concerts, saw Kenny G in MN in the late 80's, Paul McCartney in Milwaukee in the 90's and went to see Elton John in the mid 2000's in Vegas. I actually really enjoy attending Dueling Piano shows!
CC and Lizanne, sorry to hear about your Dad/husband being in the hospital! I pray both of them are able to make a full recovery from the current illness and return home soon.
DD, I sometimes wonder if the ultra low calories I need to lose/maintain weight loss is sustainable (health wise) as well. I know it is quite a bit below the TDEE calculators out there! I want to be of normal weight but not at the expense of my health. Thankfully my labs have remained fairly stable after VSG so I must be getting in what I need.
Time to get packing that new suitcase!
Saw the Rolling Stones so long ago (1989). We were in seats as far away from the stage as was possible. Still loved it!
Liz, glad the show was awesome and satisfying. I agree at this stage of the game, it has to be something I really want to see to brave the big arena shows. Old enough to remember holding up lighters at Billy Joel's Glass Houses tour in 1980.
CC, so sad that your Dad is dealing with his stent again! Keeping him overnight was probably wise. Better to stabilize well, then have him come back later.
It's unseasonably cool here again, not even 70, and, surprise! raining. This weekend it will get sunny, humid and hot, followed by several weekdays of the same. Of course, the best days of summer are always during workshop week. Next year, I will be home enjoying them.
"If you didn't come to party, don't bother knocking on my door, I gotta lion in my pocket, and baby he's ready to roar!" ~ Prince. Sure is fun being a Minnesotan this week. :) You can never play too much Prince at a political convention.
I have plans to meet up with some current co-workers so we can pump each other up later this afternoon. Dreams of a beautiful summer day on a patio can not be, but it will still be nice to see each other.
Working out is still going well. I hope I can keep the motivation when I'm back at school. Weight continues to be stable. I'm spacing out my shot 8 to 10 days, and I'm one step down from the max dose.
DH is going to switch to Zepbound now that our insurance covers it. He lost about 35 pounds on Wegovy, but has been at the same weight all summer. It seems Wegovy took him about as far as it's going to go. He wants to lose another 20 or so, so he's hoping the extra boost of Zepbound will help. Wegovy definitely gave him a smaller appetite, but it didn't shut off the food noise like it did for me. It will be interesting to see how Zepbound works for him. 35 pound loss is a good thing, but I understand why he wants to take it further. I'm staying with Wegovy. I'm sure Zepbound would crush my appetite, but I just don't want to live at the calorie deficit I need to in order to lose weight. As it is, I'm not eating so much, but I think its enough for basic nutrition. I'm having bloodwork done in a few days with vitamin panel too, do we'll see if I'm on the right track.
Hi Lizanne, so sorry you are going through this. Hope some answers are found for your DH and that he recovers soon. PD is not good. My mother had it and I believe it was caused by the old sick building she and her co-professors were in at the university. Four of them got PD out of a small department. That whole building had weird smells
Anyway, wishing you some rest and progress for DH. Glad DD is nearby and glad you have good insurance. It is a blessing. Sending good energy.,DS
