163.4, another smidge down!

Made Mom?s Amazon returns to Kohl?s today and then we shopped there for her. I told her it was my pay back for making her go to the Mall with me during my teenage years! Shopping with her is pretty painful (indecisive, finds something then decides she doesn?t like it, finds something then decides she doesn?t like the laundry instructions), we finally ended up with 2 new tops and it will be my brother?s problem if she decides in the next few days she doesn?t want them after all! I know I?m complaining but I wouldn?t trade this time with her for anything!

Great dinner of grilled red pepper, onion and zucchini with Tuscan seasoning and salmon with a cherry preserve, ginger and brown mustard glaze! Delish!

Tomorrow will be a busy day bringing Mom back home. It is a 3 hour drive one way and I?m going to pretty much drop her off and get back in the car and come home.

Got all of my pages in the scrapbooks! The only thing left to do is make a Table of Contents page to start each album (many of them already have it done) and to make a little metal tag for the outside of the album which identifies the date range of the pictures inside. Hard to believe that I have been doing this since my first one was born (1998) and very soon I will be all done. Looking forward to selling all of my supplies. If I get a hankering to do it again, I?ll go the digital route!

Greetings all

quick iPad check in from the gallery. It's a great fall day and there have been quite a few visitors. I already messes up a sale bit minor.

so dinner out tonight at the Chinese buffet. Friends want to celebrate our birthdays so that's nice. There is a dollar store next door so I will stop in for wrapping supplies needed at the gallery.

yep liz I have often thought about how our little group represents the patterns of life. So much is shared here and it's good. Hope justice gets the walk of his dreams. My phone alerted me to the fact that dh took poppy on a walk. It tracks her steps and seems to have set a step goal for her. Also gives a map of where they went. This is indeed modern America where we need dog step info in addition to that provided by dh Apple Watch.

cc have an uneventful flight. Hope there are no surprises at home.

more tomorrow when I have a keyboard

Thank you so much. What you are saying really resonates with me, and I know I need to look into support groups/therapy, etc. Right now, it's just such a HUGE hole in my heart that I can't see how it will ever heal, though I know intellectually that people go through this and find a way. I believe myself to be a resilient person as well, but ... David was always there to be my rock and center me. Anyway, thank you very much. I really appreciate it.

Quick update as I wake up before the mad dash to pack... The first week on 12.5 was a good one! Even with a lot of celebratory end of summer food. I was 186.4 today, so 2.2 pounds down this week for a total of 46. Hoping to get back on track once home to get to my goal.

Thinking on September here in MI, this has been the warmest I've experienced and my folks say the same. Normally my heat has been on at least a few days and I've gotten in some sweatshirt weather before heading home. And fog. No fog this year even once. Still shorts and Tshirts weather and windows wide open. It will be interesting what sort of winter they get here.

I should go start organizing myself. Have a great day all!

Good morning, all! Hump day--remember that?

Weather here is lovely. Mopping continues, although at this point I think I'm just plain lazy.

CC, this is your big travel day, and I'm thinking about you and the puppy up there in the sky looking down at our lovely country.

I don't have much else to say, except that all's good here.

Here?s the FB group that worked for me: https://www.facebook.com/groups/389365021164214

You will see that it's pretty specific and may or may not be the right group for you.

A few other thoughts about grief support groups and ME (not necessarily you):

Although I'm a resilient person, my husband's death took me to a place I'd never been before. Losing 'my human' was, for me the greatest loss of my life. And the phases of my grief were a surprise to me, although they were not those five tidy little Kubler-Ross boxes we've all read about. I was comforted to observe that many other widows and widowers were also not finding that model very useful.

One of the most frustrating aspects of grieving such an overwhelming loss was the fact (and I do think it's a fact) that anyone who has NOT lost a treasured partner cannot begin to understand the depth or the qualities of that loss. People are kind--they want to be comforting, and that's wonderful--but they really do say and do some of the most astonishing things sometimes when they're trying to offer solace.

I think that eventually most widows do "recover" from this kind of loss, meaning that we process and process it until we find a way to incorporate the raw reality of it and accept it and then go forward and rebuild our lives. But as I'm sure others here will agree, it takes serious work.

And although you'll probably think I buried the lede about my grieving process, I was also in therapy before my husband died and continued in therapy for several years afterward. That was very helpful. There are a lot of things I needed to say or express or feel, but needed to do so with someone who simply, merely, and magically just LISTENED and then did not tell me what I was feeling or supposed to feel or supposed to do.

I think of you daily, Lizanne.

Weight 118.2. 10 days until the wedding. Eldest DD arrives from New Jersey late tonight so I am getting the downstairs room ready for her to stay and work in.

Deep thoughts about life changes yesterday: ThinLizzy navigating the world without DH but with support from her DD; Diane S learning about a new life being created on her birthday; a wedding coming; several of you planning for retirement. On the last note, it is scary but it seems that for most it just works out. Some spending adjustments just happen: fewer meals purchased during the work day, less gas, less money spent on work clothes, keeping the car longer so the loan is retired, etc.

Today we are taking DH's car to be fixed (it failed the annual required inspection last week so has not been drivable). Then we will go out to DH's home to put the wardrobe delivered Friday inside the house and mow the lawn. Not sure if we will bring Justice though he really does love taking walks there. My home is in a neighborhood with paved streets and though pretty with views of the pond doesn't offer as much for a dog - DH's neighborhood is mostly interconnected dirt roads ultimately ending up at the ocean beach where we can continue the walk. Lots of good smells and space to run.

Time to put the laundry in the dryer. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
