119.2 - I wonder why my skeletal muscle mass percentage is so high? Seems more than I would expect since DH's is essentially the same. I do have good core strength but I feel like the muscles in my arms and legs need work. I do sink like a stone in the pool though during water aerobics. Some women don't need a flotation belt at all but I am still very low in the water with one.

Very cool day yesterday with a strong north wind. The sun was out but the wind overwhelmed its warmth. It shifted last night to come from the east so it feels a bit warmer. No sun today, but it is warm enough for water aerobics.

We are considering going to the outdoor venue near us for music this afternoon but it depends on the wind since the venue is right on the water and with the wind from the east may be too cool for comfort. Hopefully this spell is the last of the really cool weather this season.

That's about it from Florida! Have a sustainable Saturday!

I don't put a lot of credence in electrical impedance scales for day to day numbers. They are heavily influenced by your hydration. Using them to watch long range trends might be more helpful. Or getting a dexa scan (there are lots of mobile fitness companies that do them) to start and compare to what you're seeing on the scale might give you more context?

I am taking my folks to the airport in a little bit. It was really nice spending time with them, but will also be nice to have my house back to myself! (At least for a little while, then I have a friend coming to town the first week of March). They are excited to get back to the snow, the snow plow tractor, and their home. I think the ever-lengthening days make it more palatable there.

My dad and I took the new car to pick up pizzas last night. I noticed quite the rattle from the backseat! Hoping it was my purse strap or something. I'll experiment when I get home from the airport.

Today is my 8 year surgiversary and I am at a normal weight of 183.6. I was 38.2 pounds heavier on this date last year, having already lost 10.5 pounds on Zepbound. So all told, about 50 pounds down on the meds. I am up 0.6 pounds from when my folks arrived. Not bad considering! I am also 100 pounds down from my pre-VSG weight. And 155 down from my highest ever recorded weight. So despite the ups and downs and maybe not being exactly where I want to be scale-wise or body appearance-wise, I am winning health-wise in the grand scheme of things! These tools and you all - my good friends, my fellow soldiers in battle - have made all the difference. I am a grateful girl.

I think that's it for now. Take care!!

These numbers are amazing! I like your analogy about soldiers ~ we are all weight loss warriors! Sometimes the battles are won easily, but sometimes it takes every bit of determination, cunning, and knowledge we possess and the support of each other. I too am so grateful for the tools available and the good friends here.

You are doing fantastic! Feel good about yourself!

The noise in a convertible is sometimes something vibrating in the wind.

Thanks, Liz! This is with the top up and is a definite rattle under the rear center cupholders like a loose screw. I don't hear it on the smoother roads near town, but definitely on the rougher ones closer to my house.

Liz you must have good bone density. Even thinner, it's very hard for me to stay submerged. I pop to the surface like a bobber.

Yesterday was an easy going day. I have these super annoying reports I need to complete. They are quarterly reports on IEP goals progress. I have 20 to write, and they take about 15 minutes each if I have decent data to work with. I had 15 left to do, so I did 5 yesterday, and will do 5 more today and 5 more Sunday. Then I only have to do this loathsome task 2 more times, at the end of quarter 3 and quarter 4. There are a few other things I'd also like to complete this weekend so I can hit the ground running Monday, but they are not as annoying.

I'm also trying to hype myself up to go to Costco. Maybe I'll wait until closer to closing. Other than that, no big plans.

Weight 128.8 lbs.

DH's foot repair surgery seems to be working out great (after less than 24 hours). He says he doesn't feel any pain at all right now, which is a massive improvement over what he's suffered for nearly the last year and a half. This weekend he'll keep his foot it elevated and ice it 20", then no ice 60", then ice it 20", etc. He's also sleeping again right now which isn't unexpected after

Now, about the F**K**G surgeon. I'm not going to describe that conversation on a public bulletin board. I may post on TT about it ONLY because I learned from this experience a lot about how to improve pre-surgery and post-surgery conversations between doctors and patients, and others might learn or improve upon my lessons learned thus far.

This coming week will be warmer and will certainly remove the final snow and ice of this past week's white precipitation. I welcome it. The Ohio River which crested late yesterday caused some floods and closed roads along the water. I drove down by the river on Thursday just to see how far the river was up, and it was 1-2 inches below the road in some places. Whoa! Other long sections of the road were completely closed because they were much farther underwater.

I got to the gym only once last week (given the pre-surgery activities and organization). I plan NOT to replicate that next week.

Second post of the day ...

This morning I was watching some FB reels (usually a big waste of time), but found some videos of Charlie Munger (Warren Buffett's best friend who was renowned for his savvy advice and for not suffering fools). Anyway, Charlie was explaining "Inversion Thinking"--a way he uses to achieve the best results by imagining how he could possible create the worst results and then assiduously avoiding doing any of those things.

It got me thinking about how I could use this technique to improve my likelihood of lifelong weight maintenance. Here are some ways I realized I could fail miserably at doing that.

  1. Don't join a good gym.
  2. Don't go to the gym regularly or focus on weight-bearing exercise.
  3. Don't do yoga regularly (3 times a week at least).
  4. Don't weigh every morning.
  5. Don't eat 80-100 grams of protein most days.
  6. Don't eat at least 5-7 servings of vegetables and fruits most days.
  7. Drink more than 7 alcoholic drinks a week.
  8. Don't maximize my good sleep (7 hours/night).
  9. Don't take daily meds every day.
  10. Do bring home sweets and desserts from the grocery store.
  11. Don't maintain regular contact with others who are working hard to maintain their weights and who aren't nuts.
  12. Etc.

You get my drift.

Here's Charlie's little (less than 4 minutes) chat about inverted thinking.
