Happy Birthday to Peps! And hoping that DD will be poolside with her Mai Tai by mid-day (after a restful sleep)!
Yesterday the beach club visit got cut short as it was pouring at the beach though dry at the house. Apparently the intracoastal was the cutoff. VERY humid day, so hopefully the rain that did make it here last night will reduce that for today. Our Valentine's Dinner was quite nice and very not crowded LOL.
Today the friends who stayed with us over New Years on the way to the Keys are stopping in their way back north. So some light cleaning is on the agenda this morning in addition to water aerobics. We may rent with them for 2 weeks next year.
I was up at 5:30 am this morning after being awake for an hour, so still have more than another hour until Justice walking time. I do like this time of the day but it sure makes it difficult to stay awake very late. Have a Salty Saturday!

Quick post to let you know, yes, we are breathing the humid air, and loving it! It was snowing when we left Minneapolis, which delayed our flight by 2 hours. We got to our room at 1am. It's overcast right now, with peeks of blue sky. Optimistic the clouds will burn off, or at least partially. We're going to make a quick Publix run, then pool. Only other plans are a dinner reservation at 6:30pm.
Welcome to Florida! It is 10:30 now and the sun is out here so hopefully it is for you too!

Happy bday, Peps! Welcome to Florida, DD! Well done to all the lifters, treadmillers, cooks, posters, and temporary lurkers.
Yes, we deserve sweet hugs (real and virtual) for all we do and are going through. Life is always going to be part performance art.
Yesterday morning I had a fitness consultation and orientation to the gym by a lovely young woman. I learned what I most wanted to find out which is that at 127 pounds, 5'5" and 79 years old my body fat is 36%, which ain't that great IMO. The interwebz tell me I should be no more than 30-31%. So that's my goal. I also realized I'd love to have a home scale that tells me my body fat % every morning--not just my weight. Am about to go shopping for one online.
Our dinner party last night was fun with one exception--I felt like I was being force-fed by the truly large portions the hostess served, although everyone else seemed to be able to finish everything. I know this is a VSG issue (11 years later). I also have trained myself to be a slow eater, so that diminishes the amount of food my brain wants me to eat.
Good news was that the awesome 2012 Italian wines we took were wonderful--had not gone bad at all!
I will also say that DH's bolognese is much more to my taste than the hostess's--although she'd copied assiduously Ina Garten's recipe. I realize all this makes me sound like an ungrateful guest. Mostly I felt socially pressured to eat something I didn't enjoy a lot--which pre-VSG I'd never have experienced. I think I need to take a class in how to politely tell others no.
Today is a super lazy day. We both slept until 9am--very late for us.
Nothing else to report. So glad to have each of you in my life. Thanks for your stories, observations, and common sense!

DH used to side-eye me and give me a hard time when I didn't eat my meal when I first started Tirzepatide but I told him it was my choice and not his role to make me eat. He finally saw the light and leaves me alone now. He either finishes my meal or I get a doggy box if worth it LOL.

We eat what we want then put down our fork and say I am full! Or no thank you to that peanut butter cup or whatever. No room in the Inn (or sorry it just doesn't appeal right now).

Ann, curious how the new gym determined your percent body fat? I wouldn't guess that you would be 36%. That seems high for your height and weight and frankly how you look in pictures. Under water weighing and Dexa are the gold standards for measuring body fat. I know Shel and I had quite a few discussions on this after VSG. If you truly want to know, I would try and get one of those. I know I did a Bod Pod scan after VSG and I came out super low in body fat "extreme athlete level". Of course I was an exercise fanatic then!
Paula, I squeezed some little gizmo I held in my hand, but have no concept of how doing that measured body fat.
Next week I'm going to use some better assessment equipment at a sister gym in town where they have a different gizmo I tested on 2 years ago. I'll see what that one says. I agree/know that the water displacement test really is the best measure of body fat, but I've never found a place that would do it. (Another thing to research.)
