Darn appliances!

I met with retirement pension people last year. Yes, sometimes you have to just know that enough is enough. You have to be reasonable (which is why I didn't retire at 62, the numbers just didn't work). You could chase higher pensions and higher social security etc, for years, but to what avail? I'd like more retirement income, sure, but I'd also like to move on to the next phase of my life. And who knows how long that phase will be?Your father has been blessed with many healthy years, sadly, your mother was not. And I comfort myself too with the thought I can earn some extra money if needed. Or maybe I'll find I even want to :)

Ugh, Peps. Those also aren't necessarily what I'd call "little things."

I look forward to hearing about your meeting with the state pension agency and hope it all turns out well. I'm glad you're closing the teaching chapter of your life. It's been a long one and, from what I can tell, a very successful one.

138.7, almost a pound down but probably not a real loss due to my lack of eating and drinking yesterday. Tomorrow will be my last weight and last injection for 2 weeks! No tracking either, I will just try to be mindful of my eating choices. Portions are not the problem!

Bella is still not herself but seems to be improving some. I feel bad leaving DC1 in charge of a sick dog, but better him than a boarding facility.

DH still hasn't started packing yet! I know he will get it done, but come on.......I need to see how much spare room he has left so I can bring more! Lol! He is still coughing some but he also seems to be improving. I have the sniffles, hoping that is all it ends up being.

Uber picks us up at 6:30 am. I think our flight lands in Maui at 4:30.

I'm afraid that I am like your DH - I do most of my packing the afternoon or evening before we leave for a trip. But I do create and use checklists of what to pack on my iPhone using the closest similar trip as a model then refining it over a few days prior to that.

That's exactly my scheme. Copy the last trip's packing list and update it.

Haha, I'm always trying to get DH to give me some of his space. We try to travel with just carry ons, and I always have thoughts about what else I could sneak into his bag, or his under the seat space.

My new bed was delivered today! It's a Tempurpedic Activebreeze that can be 30 degrees colder or warmer than the room. Perfect for a perimenopausal woman. It's got speakers, a USB port, does zero gravity positioning, massage, automatically raises the head or vibrates if you're snoring and rates your sleep. It will even wake you up with a change in temperature and vibration. Mattresses aren't just mattresses anymore.... And the all important vacuuming under bed happened, which was made up of so much dog hair. Yuck.

We just walked the dog and the wind is brutal and cold. My face is still defrosting. No precipitation though. Fires in the area made it very smoky yesterday. We need rain.

We finished Day of the Jackal yesterday. So good! It's great storytelling that leaves you rooting for the assassin.

Anyway, hope you are all well!

Sounds like a fancy-schmancy mattress! I hope it is as comfortable as you expect.

All that's left is for your bed to actually rock you to sleep. Sounds wonderful.

Greetings all

Checking in on this cloudy day before I go to the gym. Scrabble was fun. Won one, lost two but all were very close. I thought I had The Shark on the ropes but no dice. I skipped my Tuesday cheeseburger - just not in the mood. I showed the scrabble group the elevator sign. They have no clue either.

Liz, no parenting advice from me. But it does seem like the right thing to do to tell your DH if he is acting on incorrect information. Hope it clears up.

Last minute packing Paula! My DH does that too. I have to nag him to get started. Once he was up until 3 am when we were leaving at 6 am. Hoping your flight goes well and all coughing and sniffling disappears on landing.

Well Peps, the pension board does not sound fun. But I bet it's all good and it sounds like you need to be done with what you are doing. When I retired early I was very $$ conscious for a few years but it all worked out. So start dreaming of how you will spend time.

Yep Ann cabin fever. Comes on pretty quickly. Makes me think of covid when the grocery store was a big outing. Glad thats over-ish. The flu is supposedly hitting our county big time but we have had every shot there is.

New bed CC - sounds terrific. Does it cook dinner too? We have one that used to vibrate and do ZG mode but the motor has stopped working. Costco knock off of the temperpedic. Wishing you years of good sleep. Take a video of the first time Kirby experiences massage mode.

We watched the rest of Baby Reindeer last night. It almost exceeded my weirdness quotient but was worth it.

Well time to wander off and do something constructive. I see a hint of sun! Diane S
