Wednesday, January 1, 2025 - New Years Day
120.6
I already had to correct the year from 2024 to 2025 - that should happen a thousand more times over the next few months.
Good food last night though I probably ate less than half of it. Both the meal and the singer at the Beach Club were great. We were in bed by 11, so a bit later than usual but we didn't make it to midnight.
Our company just left here a few minutes ago. And the dolphins already came by in front of the condo. It is nice to have the place back to ourselves. DH is playing golf in an hour. No water aerobics due to the holiday so I'm not sure what I am doing. Probably washing sheets and towels. Maybe taking down Christmas decorations? Maybe sitting by the pool for a while?
Tonight we are having the turkey pie I made after Thanksgiving and froze. Seems like a long time ago LOL.
Have a Wishing Wednesday!

141.8, up 1/2 lb.
Had a very fun NYE with our friends at our house last night! Non nutritious appetizer foods but portions were small. Too much wine! DH and I did stay up to bring in the New Year! Nap will be in order for sure! Will have to help DC1 fetch their car today as they wisely Ubered home last night!
Making Cornish hens for dinner which is a bit of a New Year's Day tradition. I always thought it was cool as a kid to have a whole chicken on my plate! Today we will split 2 between 3 people. My Mom also used to make a shrimp dip with Campbell's cream of shrimp soup and cream cheese. I loved dunking raw cauliflower in it! Should have bought ingredients for that too!
MRI tomorrow. Praying we will get answers and the results are not scary.
We used to make Cornish hens a lot - haven't had one for a long time.
Also praying for good results from your DH's MRI.

184.8. I ate a LOT yesterday. Dinner was fabulous if I do say so myself. Haha.
I made it to midnight, but instead of welcoming it in with some profound thoughts about new beginnings, I looked up from watching Instagram reels at 12:07 having missed it. Hmmm.
Now watching the Rose Parade. I can't stand the regular network coverage, so I stream KTLA on YouTube. No commercials and they don't cut away from the bands. My annual reminder to you - if you can ever get to the Rose Parade in person and sit in the stands, it an extraordinary experience well worth the trip! The tv doesn't do it justice.
Decorations will come down today. And a dog walk.
Hope you all have a great welcome start to the new year today!
My Christmas decorations are gone too.

DH had to work this morning so our plan was NOT to party until midnight. But as I suspected, he was having too much fun and chose to stay. Like other comments, we had some lovely party food, but in small quantities. I had 2 glasses of wine over 4 hours, so when the champagne was passed out I could only take a few sips. The meds definitely limit what I imbibe, in addition to food.
Tomorrow, back to work. Some districts don't start until next week. The advantage I guess about this schedule is I get to ease back in. 2 days, then the weekend hits again. I can do this!!!
No plans for today except to get a few things in order for returning to work: finding my water bottle, packing lunch, doing laundry. Tomorrow evening we have our Pub Night tickets with friends. I'm so glad we bought the season tickets. The 1st Thursday rolls around so fast every month. It's nice to have these monthly plans with them.
DD stays until January 6. I love having her home, but I know she needs to go back to the life she has built in Boston. DS sent a few pictures from Palm Springs. He looks happy.
My New Year's resolution continues to be: being happy in the space between where I am today, while still working to be better. A few years ago, I decided to stop mentally listing to myself, all the ways I was unacceptable. I think I described it as thinking I'm hot Sh#+ , while simultaneously striving to be better. It has been liberating in so many ways. A few friends my age have passed away in the past years. Whatever time is still allotted to me is for the pursuit of joy, both the rowdy and explosive joy, and the kind that hits the heart in the quiet moments of wonder. As Mary Oliver asks us: Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Oh my goodness, LOVE this so very much!
Great resolution/philosophy! We should all try to think this way.

Greetings all
Happy New year!! We watched the ball drop on CNN and packed it in after other tv. We are dull. I did not even wake up to whatever fireworks there were. They wig out Tesla so there must not have been much.
No New Years resolutions here other than to take better care of my teeth after the dental rude awakening a few weeks ago. Already in the habit. I heard some tv person say that if you are trying to make changes then pair a couple of habits so they each cue the other or something like that. Makes sense. Mostly this new year I feel gratitude for being able to do mostly whatever I want most of the time. Wishing you all the same expecially you soon to be retired teachers.
DD you are so right. You are hot sh--t and so are we all. Powerful insightful people be us.
Just finished some eggs and am doing the pairing - some squats during the two minutes before flipping the eggs. baby steps and baby squats.
Yikes on this horrific event in New Orleans. Guess they are delaying the sugar bowl. We have started the daily football watching but the real event is oregon at 2. Studio buddy will come over and I will fix some of the yum yum sandwiches. We will get ready for our ears to bleed. House got cleaned this am. Cleaner wanted to go ahead and work today.
I hope everyone has a quiet peaceful day. Thats my new years wish - peace and quiet to all.
Diane S
Thank you Diane - and the same peace and quiet to you
