Still no weight as we are in the hotel across the street from our place. Though I will have pooped (thank goodness we aren't in Antarctica), I will have had coffee and eggs by the time we go back so no point. I'm wondering where Justice slept last night. DH's younger daughter and her husband have watched him before so they were taking the doggie stairs into their room.

When we got back from dinner last night, the grandson decided he wanted to go to sleep so he blew up the air mattress in the master bedroom (remember the discussion about no one being willing to sleep on an air mattress?). So we could have stayed on the pull-out couch after all. But in a way it probably was more restful over here and DH's friend needed a ride anyway. At least my overnight stuff was already packed from our previous trip. I slept really well last night though it was warm. Anyone else ever notice that most hotel thermostats lie? They make you think you are turning the temp down to 65, but they really have a bottom limit of something like 68.

We will shower here and head back over at around 8:30. Bocce tournament at 10:30. Turkey at 6 after several hours of appetizers. That's how it gets done in DH's family.

I am thankful for my extended family still in this world and also watching us from above. And I am thankful for all my friends, especially you. Think about how much we share amongst our group on a daily basis!

Have a continuing Thankful Thanksgiving day!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! DD's plane has landed and DH is in the cell phone lot waiting for the text that she is off the plane.

DS and his girlfriend arrived safely last night. She came in with a very nice hostess basket with cheese from her hometown and both red and white wine. So thoughtful! We chatted for about an hour and a half before we all went to bed. Our very good impression from our first meeting continues. She is just delightful. DS looks so happy and relaxed in her presence. I like it all.

Our dance card has filled up for the weekend. Today big family gathering. Tomorrow we will take them to our coffee shop, and in the early v evening we have tickets for the movie Wicked. On Saturday, we spend the day with DH's BFF and our chosen family. Sunday brunch with BIL and SIL before DS has to get on the road.

I need to assemble the green bean casserole and the vegetarian stuffing, get dressed and then get on my way for my cross country Odyssey.

Some words of wisdom for this special day:

As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly ~ WKRP in Cincinnati

And one of my favorites:

If the only prayer you say is Thank You, that will be enough ~ Mister Elkhart

Thank you all for your wonderful friendship! Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Ruth 2:14.
So much of my life chasing unmet needs- trying to satiate a hunger and need for "more", with food or whatever else I might be abusing at the time, was not enough and left me empty ....
Yes, indeed, the wholeness, joy and contentment of living in whatever cir****tances knowing that "it is enough". So thankful...enough said.

I had never ever twigged on how the last part of that Bible verse might apply to my own satiation issues: "And she ate until she was satisfied, and she had some left over." That's awesome!

Happy Thanksgiving friends! Weight 146.something. Can't remember exactly what it was.

Did the Turkey Trot with the fam this morning! Pretty darn cold! Makes me nervous about the Packer game tonight. I will definitely be bundling up!

Plan for today is to nap, we will have an early dinner (lasagna) around 4 and then we need to hit the road for the big game. Game doesn't start until 7:20 but gates open up 2 hours earlier. Traffic getting there is always nuts too so I think we will leave around 5.

Tomorrow more family and friends will be here. We will have a pizza night and then games and maybe hot tub. Saturday is our official Thanksgiving celebration with traditional fare. We will also do Christmas gift exchange with the kids (they draw among each other's names so they only have to buy 1 gift) and then we will play the games where they win prizes. It will be fun!

Happy Thanksgiving all! Heading to my neighbor's house with Kirby (at least until he wears out his welcome and I need to bring him home). Hope you all have a lovely day!

Greetings all

Great sunny day here. I made cheese crisps and green beans with blue cheese and walnuts to take to our friends. Only seven people there this year which reminds us of those we have lost. Grateful for that group of friend and this group as well.

So we had a nice dinner and good wine and an excellent apple pie for dessert. I ate a few bites of DH pie piece. Yum. Someone brought a sweet potato dish which was gawd awful. Had a ton of sugar in it, some kind of brown topping I could not identify, and peanuts on top! Gross! Hostess insisted I take some home but its going straight the trash. Even so it was a great dinner and good company and I should not complain.

DD sounds like your DS girlfriend is a keeper. Hope so. Glad the holiday plans worked.

Ditto Liz - all good in spite of the air mattress chronicles. You no doubt got better rest where you stayed.

CC enjoy your friends. Kirby will too!!

Driving home after dark we spotted Christmas lights all over the neighborhood. Guess its ok but people sure rush holidays!

Our team plays tomorrow so it's back to the routine. Paula I hope you stay warm at the Packers. A night game!!! Brrrr.

Anyone going shopping tomorrow? Not moi. Diane S

Sounds like an enjoyable Thanksgiving for you. We used to have a squash dish every year which sounds similar to that sweet potato pie one though it wasn't overly sweet. Unfortunately DS has made it a few times recently and tweaked the recipe so it is closer to what you described and I can't eat it that way.

Maybe people moved up Christmas decorating because Thanksgiving was so late this year? We are starting this weekend.
