119.2 - 49 degrees out. Should be the last morning under 50 for a while. I've been frozen.
The first wave of the family made it here on time yesterday. Nice visit so far. Today is the beach club followed by dinner at the clubhouse. But first the bus leaves at 7:30 for breakfast. Only DH and I will be on it as they all plan to sleep in.
After breakfast we will do our usual Justice walk. He is good with the company as long as they let him approach at his own pace.
Have a surprise Sunday!

Good times for your family as they enjoy your beach club: definitely a slice of Florida heaven. Having just you two on the breakfast bus sounds kind of nice. It gives you a little time together before all the family fun and the commotion that goes with it.
I did get some cleaning done, but there is still more! The more I deep clean, the more I see other things that need to be cleaned. Yesterday evening we went to see a Gilbert and Sullivan Opera. It was the one originally set in Japan, but fell out of favor because it is ridiculous in it's portrayal of Asian people. This company however, is committed to performing the entire G&S canon in rotation, so they reset it in Scotland. Worked for me! A dear friend from high school, lawyer by day, tenor by night, was performing. I always love seeing his bio where he lists the King of Siam among his favorite roles. Despite many professional jobs over the years, he reaches back to our high school performance of The King and I. I was proudly one of his wives, and had a 3 word solo: praise to Buddha. And yes, I see the irony of finding the Mikado problematic, while treasuring the memory of a bunch of blue eyed Scandinavians recreating the royal court of Siam. I plead innocence, as things have changed a lot since 1979, and I didn't know any better. :)
For more than 30 years, my family celebrates Thanksgiving at my Uncle's house on the north end of the metro ( I live on the south). My parents live west, about an hour and a half northwest of me, and an hour southwest of my uncle. They cannot do this hour drive by themselves any longer. So Thursday I will drive the 1.5 hours to their house, then the hour northeast to my Uncle's, then west back to their house, and finally southeast back to my house. DH and the kids will meet me at my Uncle's. I thought about asking my brother to meet me halfway, but that would require my Mom to do extra transfers and interrupt his day. He's going to his son's house. I figure he's doing a lot of the heavy lifting right now, so I can do this. My Mom is one of 4, and we are so fortunate to have all 3 brothers still with us. Of anything I can do for them, getting them to this family dinner feels the most important. The other question is whether my Mom is up to it at all since her fall. I think she will be, she really rallies when it comes to Thanksgiving.
I've read the papers, and drank the tea, so I guess it's time to tackle a few more chores. Only 2 days of school this week. I can do this !!!
That's one of the problems with cleaning. You keep finding additional stuff to do! I was reading something the other day where it suggested emptying all your kitchen cabinets once a year, cleaning them and putting new liner in. Once a year!!!
I would do the trip on Thanksgiving too. Traditions are so important to keep as long as you can because you never know what the future will bring. But I bet you will need downtime the next day.

148.8, uptick. No longer feel dehydrated. Yesterday wasn't a good eating day (pizza for lunch, pretzel bites with cheese sauce and a stout beer for dinner at the comedy show). Calories were still just under 1,000 for the day but sodium high!
Comedy show was great last night. They have audience participation for part of it and DSD got involved! They left early this morning to head back home to North Dakota for a few days and will drive back here Wednesday night to get here by Thursday morning. We will do the local Turkey Trot 2 mile walk, nap and then go the Packer game Thanksgiving evening. We will do our T day festivities on Saturday when all the kids can be present.
I love that your DSD and her fiancé enjoy spending time with you!

Greetings all
Off and on rain today. Eggs for breakfast and then I went to the gym for my daily waddling. Up to 16 minutes. No grunters. It always strikes me as amusing that they have mirrored walls in gyms for the wight lifters. Yeah I know they need to observe their form but seriously. Of course I always hate seeing myself in those. Residue from observing myself in dressing room mirrors at fat stores.
Well DD, the Mikado in Scotland! What a great idea. I wonder if they could do Brigadoon in Kyoto. It could work. High school musicals are such a great thing. I wonder what schools are doing these days. Some of the themes of the classic ones seem sort of quaint these days. Like South Pacific. Fabulous music though. Love show tunes.
And DD sorry you have to spend so much of the holiday in the car but it will be worth it. I bet your mom indeed rises to the occasion.
Paula the comedy club sounds fun. Glad it was good.
Just got my assignment for thanksgiving dinner. Green beans. I am going to do them with toasted walnuts and bleu cheese. This time of year better use frozen. Fresh might be tough. And dinner rolls. No I am not going to bake my own. It would be wrong for me to take business from a bakery. .
So after the gym I made a CVS run for coffee and then to the studio. Place was busy. I made some new things and finished others. Came home to DH watching some sci fi movie. Last night I watched Dune 2 with him. He owes me big time. I hated it. But we also binge watched the second season of the Diplomat. Its terrific. Super surprise ending.
Facing the dinner conundrum. Might be time to liberate some space in the freezer.

My high school is doing Oliver! this week. Last year they did Mary Poppins. No flying though, we're not ready for that. When my DD was in high school she was in Beauty and the Beast, Hello Dolly, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. My favorite performance of hers was not a musical: The Velveteen Rabbit. She was the skinhorse. The director imagined the skin horse as a faded southern belle. DD was costumed in a mink coat and pearls. Hot on stage, but looked awesome.
I loved the Velveteen Rabbit book. DD must have been awesome in that role.
