Rain, rain, go away. Today is projected to be 1/2 rainy and 1/2 cloudy. Thursday and Friday are supposed to give us a break with some sun, then unsettled showery weather through next week again. Better than the extreme heat in some of the country and projected for here at some point but it feels restricting. DH missed his golf game yesterday and we ended up just taking a mid-day drive along the ocean for something to do. Poor Justice hates the rain so he is missing his walks and it is tough to get him out to do his business.

An offer came in for the other house which has been on the market just over a month. Way too low as they were adjusting for a new roof which it doesn't need. The house is 24 years old so if the tile was asphalt it would need replacement but it is tile in good shape and can last up to 50 years. We shall see what happens but apparently the potential homebuyer traffic has picked up. DH is feeling like the $10k spent for new plumbing was a waste. I felt that making the bathrooms look more updated with new vanity doors, counters, new clear glass shower doors, and fresh paint would have made more impact and been less money. If the home continues to linger we may do that as it can probably be done for under $2K and would make the bathrooms look newish (the layouts are good and the tile is in great shape).

My PT evaluation was good yesterday. I liked the young woman and I have several new exercises to start today. I need to find an exercise ball for a couple of them. My arm was achy yesterday but feels pretty good this morning.

Have a winning Wednesday!

Second day of interior construction. I had them reset a bunch of smoke detectors though which I really appreciated as the ceilings are very high. They needed to be hooked to my wifi as they had previously been hooked to the former owner's. They are Nest ones that are controlled through an app, but only if they are on your wifi. So if they went off, I would have no way to shut them off. I had done 3 of them I could reach. A nice young man with no fear of heights did the others (how old does that make me sound? Ha!)

Now I'm waiting for the designer to arrive.

Shower drama continues... I thought I had it all fixed then went to shower this morning and no water came out. So at 6:30am I was dragging my giant ethernet cable and computer out again and resetting it. It worked, but now I don't trust it.

I haven't started packing. Argh. But I'm glad I'm not flying seeing all the cancelled flights and the terrible air in Chicago. My folks said the smoke was terrible yesterday and very smelly. It should head to NY this weekend.

Trying to reign in my eating. Lots of stress making that hard!

Take care all!

Haha, nice young people are our salvation! DS says he feels it is his calling in life to reach things for shorter people in the grocery store. He likes to think the universe pays it forward and someone helps his grandma (5ft) and his sister (5ft 3in) when they need it.

The smoke is due in Massachusetts on Friday :)

Good luck with the shower - one does need water!

Sending good house mojo that you get a good offer Liz! Do snowbirds start looking in earnest as summer ends?

CC I don't know how you figure out all of your internet/app supported items in your house. I can't ever remember how to turn the oven on at my parent's house, let alone reprogram my shower.

Diane S, oh yes, DH knows about the SAC museum in Omaha, we visited when DD was still in a stroller. DH was an Air Force brat, and "aviation enthusiast". The only static plane displays I want to look at are the type of planes my father in law flew. That was pretty cool, there is an air museum in Minneapolis that coincidentally has a plane my FIL actually flew (DH has his flight logs and checked the number on the plane with the docents). Pretty awesome to stand in front of that plane and think about him being some hot shot pilot when he was young.

Hope your brother bounces back from his awful travel day. We were so lucky to land in NYC early Sunday, seems like all Beck broke loose shortly after.

Today we took Amtrak to Boston. We've never used a train as transportation in the U.S. Obviously there is Amtrak going through Minneapolis, the logical destination would be Chicago. But it's often cheaper to fly. And of course, just driving the 7 hours yourself is the cheapest, and still faster than the train. So people often take Amtrak for the experience. I know a lot of people who take the Empire Builder to Seattle, also for the experience.

So we were kind of fascinated with the whole train thing. It worked very well, we were quite comfortable, and enjoyed the scenery. It was very full, one of the workers told us just about every seat on the eastern seaboard was sold out due to the airline troubles.

We are checked in at the Hilton at Logan Airport. My Aunt wanted us to be here a day ahead of time, which turns out to be very smart. We fly out tomorrow at 8pm, so hopefully all goes well... We've been busy, so we don't mind a quiet night in a comfortable hotel.

I have one travel complaint, for the love of God, why does everyone have their air conditioning set so low??? All summer, I have to bring sweaters and jackets with me. I ALWAYS want to sit outside if that's an option, because a 90 degree day in the shade on a patio feels so much better to me than indoors with a 68 degree wind blowing on me. Looking forward to Europe where they are not so infatuated with air conditioning.

Greetings all

The new neighbors are busily hammering and sawing away. I guess they are replacing flooring. DH has talked to them and they seem nice enough. It will be some college students who swear they are quiet and don't party. Yeah right We shall see.

Liz hope more offers come on the house. Seems like you could wait a little longer but its no fun. At least you are not still living in it. I remember when selling my houses I always had a drill to tidy up and put pot pourri on the stove so it did not smell like a dog house. Cinnamon and cloves. And hope the PT works.

Ocean Diane a disobedient printer is hell indeed. I remember at my law firm when some item had to go out and it was after 5 and the clerical staff was gone and we were trying to print on letter head which meant trial and error to make sure the paper went in right and running up and down the hall because the printer was in another room. Hope you find one you like.

Yes.my brother finally got home. Not sure how he managed with his health condition but he made it.

DD have a great time. No 60 degree air conditioning in Europe though they don't need it on those islands. Enjoy.

I stopped in the studio to glaze stuff. A friend came by that I had not seen since she had a baby. The kid starts school now so she will be back. Yay.

It's cool and overcast here. Works for me. Enchilada tonight from a deli. I am realizing that all this deli food counts as highly processed which I am now convinced is the devil. But how do I get non processed food unless I make it? The health store deli has some things no so processed. A new thing to study.

Cheers. Diane S

We were lucky when we sold our first 3 homes that they sold fast and we were able to be away during the showings. DH wasn't so sure about moving everything to the condo ahead of time but I didn't want any confusion about what was staying or going. Though we did leave pictures and some Knick-knacks with stickers on them to make it clear that we were removing them later.
