Today is day 2 of clouds though I think the showers are done. The long-term forecast looks good for the remaining 10 days we are here.

Yesterday we went to a couple of restaurant/bars in Marathon. One had been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and was recommended in a few articles. Though their sushi happy hour special was good, the fish sandwich was not at all. Hardly any fish on a hamburger bun. And the atmosphere was so-so. The other place which we found out of the way by looking at Google maps was a cool, local Florida Tiki bar with some great music and a nice view of the water. We have no idea if the food would be any good (we just had drinks), but we liked the ambiance better anyway.

Today is an eat at home day hopefully with a walk later once we are sure it has finished raining. Maybe a quick trip to the food store.

Have a mostly good Monday!

My youngest sister's (63) husband committed suicide yesterday, at their home in NY. He was in chronic pain and had a poor quality of life, unwilling to try. My heart breaks for her, even though he was controlling and miserable. I was packed and ready to head up to NY when I spoke with her again. No obituary to be published, no services... cremation. She's going to spend a couple of days with my brother and sister and then come visit here. They had no children.

Liz, eight year old Sadie is beginning to randomly balk at jumping into and out of of the back of my SUV. She hops in and out of my bed with no problem, and is not seemingly in pain. I did order a collapsible ramp for her.

I'm so sorry for your sister's loss. Such a tough thing to experience. I hope she can heal and not feel guilty for the choice he made on his own.

Such complicated loss. How wonderful that the siblings, including you, are there for each other.

It's interesting how some places become famous, or a must do, but in reality are medicore. It's a flat out crime to have a bad fish dish in the Keys of all places. Although, in my opinion, Massachusetts is really the leader in seafood. I haven't traveled extensively in other parts of the East Coast to compare, but I've had the most delicious fish in Mass. , even better than Florida.

I think I've mentioned that I am the advisor for the Dungeons & Dragons Club. Today I had a meeting with a Mom, and she cried and thanked me, and said it was the only thing her son looked forward to at school, and the only social outing he has. I was thinking I might need to let it go next year (because of how much the workload is increasing) but how could I now? This is something meaningful, I need to keep it going.

For whatever reason, I am having some success tracking and following an eating plan. Still no clue as to why sometimes it's easy until it's not, so I'll just lean into it for now.

DH is in the air, winging it home to me. He said it was sad to leave DD, but he can't stay forever. He helped ease the way for a bit. DD had already planned to be home April 8th for DH's birthday, so we will see her again soon, and can pour on some more TLC.

I am obviously biased but I agree with you on Massachusetts seafood.

Good job on getting on the eating plan wagon. I just can't get my head in the right place.

Greetings all

Ocean Diane such shocking sad news regarding your BIL. So many emotions your sister must fee. It's good that she will go stay with others and then with you. You have such healing comforting energy which will be a comfort. Thinking of you.

Liz icky fish in Florida? Nope not good. Shout out for our seafood here in no cal. Crab available right now, halibut, tuna and salmon though I think they are cancelling salmon season.

Gallery duty today. It's sunny so there were a few visitors. Did my errands to the accountant and drug store earlier and picked up a few groceries afterwards. Personal reward: one cookie.

DD how nice of the parent of the D and D child to thank you. Have you learned anything about playing that game? The community center here has game night where they do that.

The missionary hostage released from Niger today was from our town. 6 years a captive. Wow. He has a wife here.

Time for dog dinners. Scrabble tomorrow. Diane S

I really don't know what is going on in D&D. You play a character with special skills and spells, and everyone in the group goes on a campaign together, and they end up places because of a dice roll, and then, who knows what they're up to. But clearly having fun :)
