It certainly doesn't feel like fall here! Highs are expected close to 90 and it is very muggy at least in the am. It is POURING now, and we just had an extremely close lightening strike. Justice is very nervous.

I ate more than I should have out to dinner last night, but I enjoyed it all. DD's reports on the new weight-loss drug sound promising so far.

I melted the rug in the bedroom partially yesterday by trying to remove deep furniture dents with a steam iron (iron shaped mark just as you walk in the door). Yikes! Then I spilt my coffee on the lanai indoor/outdoor rug this morning. Not going well.

But my sore neck is much better and we have our first actual Bocce game this afternoon. Our team of 6 is already down 2 players after one couple dropped out because the wife has pneumonia.

Time to plan the day! Have a thankful Thursday!

Definitely feels like Fall here! Cold winds from the north gusting to 35 mph, only in the 50s today and sunny with puffy clouds. Beautiful Fall day!

I had a great night's sleep despite the wind. It caused a power outage yesterday with a tree knocking down the line, but that happens a lot here. The power company would save so many service calls here if they buried just a mile of line along our road.

Not sure what we're doing today, but in honor of the change in temps, we're having white chili tonight.

I hope everyone is well and that Peps is on the mend!

I am on the mend. Thanks, CC! Weight is down, too. Always a good thing. In all honesty, I could have taken another day off, but I didn't really NEED to. I am still not sleeping well due to coughing and 3 wee hour puppy emergencies. (The two pups have diarrhea from eating too many acorns. Luckily, they whine to go out in the middle of the night and it wakes me up and I take them out for relief.)

Unlike CC's Michigan weather, DD's Minnesota weather, and Liz's Florida weather, we here in Northern CA are looking forward to low humidity days in the upper 80s this weekend.

I enjoyed reading DD's account of her first week on meds. Pretty cool how she analyzed the week and her cookie experience. I had similar results with Vyvanse. But I required more and more of the Vyvanse to maintain such results, which was no bueno! I believe DD is using a non habit forming medication (unlike the Vyvanse, which is quite habit forming...), too. There is an on line weight loss company that has docs prescribing meds for weight loss. It's a legit website. If any one is interested, let me know. I'll send you a link.

First trip in GOAT 3.0 this weekend. I'm looking forward to it. We'll see how it goes. I must have raised the antenna for the TV and forgotten to lower it. The antenna ran into a low hanging branch on the trip back to the house on Tuesday. Will have to get that fixed when I take it in for the new radio/nav system the dealership is installing.

Not much else to report....

Happy Friday, Shirl!

Peps, I was going to say I tried Phentermine, somewhat the same mechanism as Vyvanse, and I HATED it. Made me crazy, and not in a fun way. Topiramate was developed to treat migraines and seizures, and weight loss was an unintended side effect. It isn't addictive, but once you get up to full dose, you shouldn't stop taking it cold turkey. You have to step down like you Wellbutrin or Paxil.

Bocce Ball, I think it might be my kind of game. I am not athletic, especially with things involving balls. But I'm weirdly good at ski ball (that arcade game where you toss the ball at round targets). I feel like bocce balls are similar size and weight.

CC we do fall very well in this part of the world. I love summer, but the fragrance of fall is one of my favorite things ever.

Peps, glad you are on the mend. I always think take the one more day whenever possible. Sometimes it's not. My son took Vyvanse for Adhd, inattentive type. He lost an alarming amount of weight. In the end, he decided the side effects weren't worth the organizational boost it gave him. He did make the dean's list that semester though :)

So, I'm really tired. I upped the dose as prescribed, and I didn't sleep well. I felt like a stone skipping and skimming on the surface of sleep, but never quite submerging. I'm guessing this will subside again in a few days. I did sleep enough to have a dream about : wait for it: salad. Yes, I dreamt about a bowl of iceberg lettuce with some tomatoes. No dressing. I remember thinking it looked delicious. I have not considered this a "delicious salad" since the 70s. What on earth!!

My appetite is definitely different. I am going to need a protein shake each day to make sure I get a reasonable amount of protein. I feel like with this 50mg dose, some planning, and a modest amount of restraint, I could go below a 1000 consistently. I'm not sure how I feel overall at that calorie level, though, even if I'm not starving. I guess I'll have to try it and see.

This weekend we're going to Madison to help our son move to a new apartment. Looking forward to seeing him, haven't seen him since the beginning of August...

Wow! Having to count protein again is interesting. Hopefully the tiredness/disturbed sleep recedes.
