Good morning (and afternoon to you east coasters)!
I managed another decent eating day yesterday and a walk. 4 pounds of water weight down thus far, I think? Once again, the holes in my plan are enough green vegetables and water.
I'm afraid I've done something very stupid. As I was investigating properties to rent, I had no idea I needed to ASK if they had air conditioning in the DESERT. I don't think this place does. I think it has a swamp cooler. I may be heading out for MI sooner than I thought. Or running to Home Depot to buy a portable air conditioner. And going in the pool. A lot. I was watching a You Tube video about pros and cons of living in Sedona and the woman said some houses don't have a/c, only swamp coolers and I thought, oh no... There was no mention of it on the listing and the real estate agents didn't mention it one way or the other. I found mention of a heat pump and ceiling fans, but nothing else. No wonder utilities were included! I will contact them to ask, but I can't get my very large deposit back. I hate life lessons. It won't matter for a good chunk of the time I'm there (fall into winter), I guess. And eating certainly won't be appealing if I'm hot and miserable.
Today is not eating my feelings about a/c, a walk tonight as it's going to be hot today, looking at the moving contract, and a trip to the grocery store for veggies and a few other things.
Hope everyone has a good day!
The other nice thing about the swamp cooler is that it adds moisture to the air so you don't feel so damn dry all the time. I'm a big fan of swamp coolers. The problem with them is they don't work in even mild humidity. Lots of older homes in the central valley still use swamp coolers vs. AC. It's cheaper, but does use water.
Fathers' Day was a success. We had a cookout here for the dads in my family. The weather was perfect. Still able to sit outside at 9:30 with only shirtsleeves. The dogs were unhappy about being left out of the festivities, but with two men in their 80s and 90s a bit unstable on their feet and my sister in law who is also pretty unsteady even though she is just 60, precluded them from taking part. LOL! I partook of everything, but stuck to VSG portions so I wouldn't get overly full. Lucky for me, dessert was truly a slider food and I could handle a full portion.
Today really, really feels like vacation. I have nothing on the calendar. I have just dawdled around this morning... feeding dogs, cleaning puppy pens, etc.... I haven't even showered or shaved yet! Rare for me at this hour. I am feeling this is a well deserved day.
Not much else going on. My food focus this week is really simply trying to eat what makes me feel good physically. I can really notice the difference when I am eating well. The older I get the more problematic sugar and over carbing becomes. Ah.... would it were that I was a vegetable lover.... Nope.... "Meat and potato" guy in the flesh!
Happy Monday to all that follow!
My adventure started out with disaster. About 5 am this morning I started vomiting and then diarrhea. Ugh. Sometimes both at the same time. The bathroom rug was collateral damage in the war waged by my digestive system. I feel terrible, awful and no good. It's now 3:30 pm and I've managed 3 sips of Ginger Ale and 2 bites of a banana. I think its all going to stay put. Luckily we had padded the road trip with an extra day in case we saw some place we wanted to explore more. Even if we left on Wednesday, we could still make our appointed arrival time of Friday, by 5pm. I hope it's food poisoning, and not some kind of virus or stomach bug I could pass to DH....
You're on the road with this yuk? Oh, my. So much worse than being sick at home. Feel better soon so's you can truly enjoy the trip.
