Good Morning All

1.5 hours into our drive to the farm. Had to detour due to flooding. We should be there around 10.30am. Just doing a day trip- 7 hours driving but need to check the cows & open up another paddock so they have plenty of feed etc. We are breaking the rules but need to caregive to our animals.

We are right in the center of South Beach. Loving some things, not enamored of others. Very Pretty, a million lovely patio restaurants. We had a nice lunch, with mojitos and Cuban appetizer platter. People are so friendly. We are some of the oldest people here, I believe people think we are cute. We were buying some wine at a liquor stores, and they clerk gave us some little bottles of rum because, he thought we were funny. We got an umbrella at CVS for $18, and the hotel has beach chairs, so we're set for the beach tomorrow. Our room is noisy. I read a lot of reviews, and some said it was very noisy, others said it was well soundproofed. It is not, at least not our room. I bought ear plugs, so should be okay. I'm sure it will be rowdy and noisy tonight, but fully expected that on a Saturday night in South Beach. The thing I HATE however, is the room temp. It's 69. I've set the thermostat at 75, but after several hours it's still 69 in here. I opened the window in the bathroom, but I don't know if that will help, maybe just make it cold and humid? Anyhow, I may have to get more blankets. I know lots of people love having the air conditioner set this low, but I am not one of them. I might be opening more windows :)

Yes, South Beach is VERY interesting. We too were the old, cute couple there. I actually made a mistake and booked the wrong hotel which turned out to be a small newly redone boutique place just off the main drag and very quiet. So my mistake was a blessing in the end.

It probably was. I like this hotel and it's amenities, and the staff is great. But if we return, I think I'd chose something around 15th street or further north. We are 10th Street and Ocean Drive, pretty much the epicenter.

Ah, salvation! DH took another look at the thermostat for me and figured out how to turn off the fan. I will not freeze to death in Miami, as it should be.

Yay on fixing the thermostat. I too hate excessive air conditioning even though I also hate hot. Ocean breeze is the best. AC. I have no doubt you are the cutest couple in south beach. Have fun. Ds
